“Swim-up?”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

Just got back from a baking hot week in Majorca at the Sa Coma Playa. I decided to splash out and go for a "swim-up" room (sorry no pun intended). The protur hotels website showed a picture of a swim-up terraced room with the pool almost touching the terrace... however this was not the case. What you actually got was a very nice large room which had access to a small pool which was wedged into a corner of a communal garden which as far as I could see was shared by a total of ten rooms, all very nice but not what I would call a "swim-up room"... The hotel is also very popular with young couples and their little toddlers. The management of the hotel is first class with the very charming Chej leading a equally charming and helpful team. Also the food was very good so if you are looking for a hotel which is very child-friendly with very helpful staff and are happy when booking a "swim-up" to share a pool in a communal garden then this hotel is definitely the one for you!

Room Tip: if you go for a swim-up be prepared to share the small pool with nine other rooms set in a communal...

Thank you for your kind comments. Just to give you an update: for the 2014 season we have made some changes and now offer new swim-up rooms that offer direct access to a large pool which we are sure that will be very popular. The management.

We were invited to join our son, daughter-in-law and lovely grandchildren for a week's holiday at half-term. This is not our usual sort of holiday but we are now converts. What a wonderful hotel: very friendly staff, outstanding service, very varied meals ( we stayed full board) and the loveliest of rooms - we had a suite which we can highly recommend. Housekeeping is of the highest order. There was so much to do - from sitting by the pool, playing tennis and watching our grandchildren enjoying the children's play area. We also enjoyed walking to the beaches near the hotel, bike rides and horse and trap rides too! We hope our family will ask us to accompany them again! This hotel is to be highly recommended.

Stayed at this hotel for a week from 21st May to 28th May with my wife and 13 year old son. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone. The rooms were roomy and the shower exceptional. The staff in the hotel were all very nice and helpful, especially the pregnant lady in reception. The food was excellent, even for a non foody like myself (alway something for a vegetarian). The public areas and grounds were always clean. The entertainment was ok, and especially good for young kids.
Although there was not a lot in Sa Coma, Cala Millor was only a short bus ride away, and worth visiting if you enjoy shopping.
We did a trip to Palma to see the cathedral and really enjoyed it.
When we left the hotel the manager came to see us and thank us for staying with them and wished us a good trip home. A nice touch!

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room prior to arriving. I did, and got one.

We want to recommend this hotel to all our friends and family. The food is never boring. Always new courses to be tried. The rooms are big, modern and very clean. Beds are quite firm though.
Lots of things to do for both children and adults. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel and grounds are well maintained.

It really is difficult to add much more than what was said about this hotel. We are just back from two weeks there with my wife and two kids aged 4 and nearly 2 and it is probably the best holiday and hotel I have ever been to in Spain.

Sa coma is a failry quiet wee place with a cracking beach and a few of the usual bars shops etc. no real nightlife but a few british type bars with the usual tribute acts on but it is mostly big hotels who have there own intetainment. Its a ten minute walk from Cala Millor which was much busier with more to do but still fairly reserved.

It is far and away the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in, the communal areas and pool are spotless and the rooms are cleaned every day.

We went All Inclusive, have never done this before as i wouldn't just go and eat and drink anything because it was AI but we had read up that this place was good food and all of the drinks were branded and the reviews were spot on. The meal times were the usual affiar in holidy hotels with self service buffet type food but there was load of choice and it was always hot and fresh. And if you didn't fancy the buffet stuff they had a Stir Fry Wok section and a fresh meat grill.

I like good food and the meals here were great, there wasn't a night where you didn't have something you were happy to eat. You could also book into 4 different restuarants which were different to the buffet which were decent for a wee change.

The drinks were great as well. Bottles of San Miguel Export and San Miguel and Estrella on draft. Spirits were all branded so tanquary gin, Jack Daniels and Smirnoff. Also some pretty tasty cocktails so the Mojitos were enjoyed every night.

You also had a mini bar in the room that was filled daily with Coke, Fanta, Sprite and beer, all on the AI.

But the thing that made the holiday was the way it is aimed at kids and families. This hotel has a great kids club and mini disco for the kids and our oldest couldn't wait to go and see Aroa who ran it and she always made them feel welcome and kept them entertained.

Its sister hotel was just across the road and you could use everything in there which included 3*18 hole Mini Golf, Water Park, Junior Water Park, Bike Hire, Golf range, Nature Farm. there is no way the kids would get bored here.

I couldn't recommend this place highly enough, the manager is so friendly and you really feel that you are welcome and more importantly the kids are welcome. As many people have said they cant wait to go back and we are the same, from half way through the holiday we were already planning our trip back next year.

Room Tip: The standard rooms didn't have a bath, this was a bit of a pain for our one year old but you cou...

We recently returned from our first holiday at the Protur Sa Coma Playa Hotel & Spa. The hotel is really excellent, all the staff are so friendly, the hotel and rooms are spotless and modern, and the food is varied and high quality.

We stayed on a half board basis which we found sufficient with a big breakfast and evening meal, I can honestly say I was never hungry throughout the holiday. We stocked the fridge in the bedroom with our own drinks and biscuits from the local supermarket (the larger supermarket further into Sa Coma was much cheaper than the Spar next to the hotel). I think the All Inclusive would be worth the extra if you drink a lot of alcohol (particularly spirits), however as I'm currently 6 months pregnant it wasn't worth the extra expense for our stay. The soft drinks and San Miguel in the hotel were not expensive; we only spent around £85 on drinks for evening meals and in the bar on an evening over our 10 night stay.

We are always a bit fussy when it comes to buffet style food, but the restaurant food was really excellent particularly the wok which we used most nights and would thoroughly recommend. My 7 year old daughter who can be a fussy eater certainly found enough food options to keep her happy.

We spent most of our time around the small pool as this was close to the indoor pool and the small play area which my daughter enjoyed. Being half board we didn't need the convenience of the pool bar for drinks etc and just took our own drinks to the pool side. Both pools were on the cold side, so we used the indoor pool frequently to swim with our daughter. She also liked playing in the kids outdoor pool which was 0.3m so great for splashing around in, she also made a few friends there too. I'm sure the pool temperature would be fine in July & August when it's much hotter.

I must give a special mention to the hotel manager who was fantastic with my daughter (high fives all round), we were on holiday for her 7th birthday which she mentioned to him on the way to our table for breakfast. By the time we had sat down we had a birthday cake, candles, a glass of champagne for us and orange juice for my daughter. On our way out of breakfast, my daughter was given some gifts from the hotel and later on a bottle of champagne delivered to our room! All in all such a great service and definitely made my daughter's birthday special. We have brought the champagne home to celebrate the new baby when he/she arrives in a few months time.

Finally we requested a late check out as we weren't leaving the hotel until 11pm, this was provided free of charge and basically meant we had an extra day to enjoy our holiday and could shower etc after a day at the pool which was certainly appreciated.

Our only negative would be we found the beds quite firm so didn't sleep particularly well, but this certainly wouldn't stop us from returning to this fantastic hotel.

We would thoroughly recommend this hotel to families and older couples, and we hope to return next year with our new addition to the family.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the main pool get sun on the balcony in the afternoon & early evening.
