“What a brilliant holiday for the money”
Reviewed October 25, 2013

Eight family and friends have had a brilliant time in Alcudia at the roc baccaccio we went all inclusive and paid approx £300 each all in. Staff (apart from the super mario lookalike Behrind the bar who ignored us and always kept us waiting) really friendly, worked really hard kept our room lovely we left all sorts out on show and no problem with security or anything going missing entertainment staff though weren't much cop

Yes some of the other visitors at the hotel did seem to look down there noses at the British but smile and wave boys was our motto, I think they just seemed to have a hard time enjoying themselves. Clash of cultures.
I'm a very fussy vegetarian and my 16. Year old is a nightmare eater but there was always something to eat, a great selection very well prepared presented and always topped back up straight away. Our food was always hot so anybody else who slates the food is talking bollocks my husband who is a chef was impressed and yes some of the food ie the sausages were German style but they all tried them. The only thing I would say is if your a toast monster like me you'll be a bit disappointed the toast carousel was laughable.

We used all areas of the hotel so as for areas being reserved for Germans only, that's news to us we were never told this and weren't made to feel uncomfortable or 2nd class to the Germans in fact we met a lovely family from hamburg who we will be keeping in touch with if u respect others then you normally get it back

We spent our days on the beautiful beach and got our money's worth out of the beach bar Maria who was there daily was a star. We never once saw any Germans reserving the sun loungers with towels however that area is in the shade so we just hired loungers out on the sand for 4.50 euros about 20 meters away. You must get a massage on the beach we paid 10 euros and I swear to god two sessions sorted out what years of physio in England hasn't YING a small Thai woman was the best but the fellas were good a swell and they only charged us 5 euros each at the end of the week
We are all going to go back again you really cannot complain for the money but some people want the world for that much you can't kid the Germans and the Spanish there's a reason why it's so popular with them they expect a good standard that's why they keep going back

Room Tip: Bit noisy on the main road got woken up by the early morning coach pickups

we booked this hotel on half board basis and the hotel rooms were small but adequate for the price. However the food was well below standard breakfast was cold meats, cereals , but I don't think the kitchen staff had heard of hot breakfasts as the first morning we had scrambled eggs ,bacon, sausage, beans ,tomatoes and they were all cold as the hot plates had no hot water in them!!!!!!Evening meals were the same nice looking food but again not hot!!!!!.we tried it on the second day and no improvement so we had breakfast in a lovely restaurant on the Avenue des Palmers near the Hotel and that was hot Full English breakfast and we used it for the remainder of our stay Evening meals we used Cheers restaurant which was excellent, good service and food was wonderful especially steaks./seafood and hot..... Oh yes we did not have to wait for the toast doing a 10 min travel to turn a lighter shade of pale.........

Stayed at the ROC Boccaccio from 01.10.013 for 1 week. We paid £300 each for a week all inclusive (£120 of this was for flights and transfer). Firstly yes this is primarily a German clientale hotel. We used the hotel as a base really and spent only a small amount of time here. If you are a family who likes to spend alot of time at the hotel and meet other guests and have children who like to make new friends on holiday then this is not really the hotel to choose. The pool area is extremely small and the sunbeds are packed so close together. We did not spend any time at all around the pool for this reason and the actual pool is tiny. I had previously read on other reviews about the size of the pool but did not envisage just how small it is. The rooms, again, are very small and the walls are paper thin. The dividing walls are actually plastic and so you can hear everything that is going on in the rooms next to you. The air con in the room switches on and off every 15-20 mins and it makes such a loud noise when it is turning back on, this goes on all through the night. The staff are friendly enough although some of them do struggle to understand the English as it is a hotel mainly catered towards German guests. The rooms were cleaned every day we were there with clean towels alos daily so no complaints with regards the cleanliness of the hotel. The all inclusive was ok. We only had the evening meal at the hotel so cannot comment on the breakfast. There was plenty of choice of food in the evening, always meat, fish, pasta and rice dishes on offer with plenty of salad. There was a large dessert section but we did not have desserts so cannot provide a review on this aspect. There did not seem much choice for children so if travelling with a family you may struggle to find something suitable for them. The all inclusive bar was fantastic plenty of drinks on offer. The most fantastic thing about this hotel is the beach bar. We spent every day at the beach and this bar was brilliant. Cold drinks available all day until 17:30 hours and a hot buffet served between 13:00 - 15:00 each day. Going to the beach (which is a 2 minute walk) and not having to take money with you is brilliant and having cold drinks on tap is just the best, soft drinks, beer, wine, spirits. The only snacks on offer between meals times and mini pastries or mini donuts so not great if you miss meal times. The hotel does need a lot of work doing to it in terms of modernisation and repair. For the price we paid I have no complaints really, would not stay here for a main holiday and if it was not for the beach bar I would not stay here again. If we had paid any more than we did I would have been dissapointed but it was just a cheap October break. If you are a couple who spends minimal time at the hotel then this would probably be ok, for families I do not think it would be suitable really.

I have just returned from the Roc Boccacio. We were due to stay in another hotel and due to overbooking we were moved here. After reading the reviews we were TERRIFIED. Our group ranged from an 11month old baby to some 'elders' in their 70s! We go to Alcudia annually and love the location.

The hotel itself is a standard 3*. It's clean, tidy, and the staff were helpful and friendly. The maid service was daily and unlike lots of other hotels with "inside robberies" it seemed safe. The hotel is approx 5 min walk to the beach where there is a beach bar (this was a huge plus for us) although the beach bar did close a few days ago as off peak season understandably.

The food was quite repeititive but this is standard for All Inclusive. And although repetitive everyone got way too much to eat. :)

The only faults we found with this hotel were the beach bar closing before we left and the entertainment isn't great although this didn't bother us personally. When entertainment was provided it was karaoke and flamenco dancers etc, the other nights were staff entertainments main man Martyn (who is class ) doing movie nights etc which he tried his best at and were probably the most enjoyable nights oh and bingo! (not advisable for stroppy 8 yr olds who dont understand the game ;) )

Btw - if you want 5* food, entertainment, location and rooms - PAY FOR IT! When reviewing a 3* hotel bear in mind what youve paid for as otherwise its a very unfair and misleading review - HINT HINT Neil S!!!

Room Tip: Pool view rooms are quieter.

we were put to this hotel after cancellation of our choice. the rooms were very small, had money missing which could only have been the cleaners, the choice of food was ok for adults but nothing for children who would probably prefer plain food, my son only ever took toast at breakfast (which took about 10 mins to toast the bread through the toaster) and plain rice and plain pasta at other times, therefore we had expense of having to eat out a lot. the food was always just warm also, there was a micro in the restaurant, but really should be getting served hot food. most of the tables were reserved for the german guests, and only snacks available outwith the set meal times were small Danish pastries and donuts. the pool was cold and small. not a lot of sunbeds which are pushed up close together, very shaded by pool with the large trees there, not good for sun lovers, very dangerous missing floor tiles inside the patio door from bar to outside. entertainment was very very poor, and the german guests were VERY ignorant and arrogant and had my son upset a lot laughing and staring at him. they have their own area that brits are not allowed in also. the attitude of the staff towards the german guests was polite and sincere compared to us. location was good, central to beach, bars and shops. might be ok for just somewhere to sleep but avoid all inclusive, very very poor.

We bought all inclusive and it was worth it. The food was great and the drinks also. We have been on our fist family holiday with 1 year old and we also took my parents with us to help us with babysitting. We arrived late around 11 pm and we checked in, we got 2 rooms on the 2nd floor just opposite to each other, our family room was facing the pool and the area where all the night animation was taking place till 11 pm and it was very loud, I know from the reviews that this will not be a great room with a small baby, so they said they will try to change it for us following day, but the room was on the 4th floor and far away from grandparents, so we only exchanged the rooms between us and problem was sorted. When we arrived there was still cold buffet ready for us to get something to eat at 11 which was great. The hotel is located 5 mins walk from the beach and the advantage is the Beach Bar, where you can get lunch so you don't need to go back to hotel and also drinks. There is also ice cream at the bar, but you need to ask for it. Beach is nice and clean, the sea is great for small kids. You can buy beach sunbeds for 4.50 per day. The hotel is nice and clean and the staff is very friendly. The animation during the day is very poor, almost none. Also there is a free sauna in the hotel from 4-7 pm daily. This hotel is not very suitable for young couples I would say, most of the quests were around 45+ and there were only few young families with kids. We had a great holidasy and I would recommend this place.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the pool are loud because of the animation program till 11 pm, also the rooms about...

I do not understand the negative reviews. This is a 3* hotel, I paid £350 for AI, transfers & flights. We thought the location was great, room clean & ok, food hot, yes a little limited but ok, pool ok, facilities generally ok, staff were pleasant enough. What more do you want from what we considered to be an average 3* at a budget price. If 4* or 5* is required then you have to pay that sort of money. Overall 7 out of 10 in the 3* stakes.
Now for the German grumbles - why do us brits continue to return from holiday moaning about the Germans. Mallorca is popular with Brits & Germans, the island is located in 21st century Europe, what do we expect. It would be pretty boring to travel abroad and just meet Brits eating fish & chips, drinking John Smiths, reading The Sun. Get a life Neil S.

Room Tip: We had a pool view. From there we could see the sea, although distant.
