“Good location”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

Have just returned from this hotel.

Having read all the reviews before I visited this hotel. I am now telling you my view

PROS
Very clean
Friendly staff
Good selection of food
Good location

CONS
Room on the smallish side for three adults ( 2 adults and a 17 year old)
Television oddly positioned. - I put mine on a very thick book so I could see telly last thing at night.
Bathroom - on the smallish side but what amazed me was the old fashioned shower hose and a shower curtain!!!!!!!!! Four star fittings - I don't think so. (Went in a ultra modern four star last year and had a walk in shower with an overhead and wall mounted shower). Maybe that has spoilt me.

Beach is beautiful, about a 5 minute walk The sunbeds/ umbrellas can be reserved in four days or single day slots, so get to the beach early on your first day if you are like us and like the same spot every day ( sorry bit sad - I know) They cost 9 euros a day for 2 beds and an umbrella - cheapest we have paid for a good three years.

We caught a taxi into the Port of Alcudia and a return trip is about 16 euros. Can Picafort is about 21 euros, both worth a visit. The local shops however, are right on your doorstep and a fair few as well.

We never go around the pool or see the evening entertainment- so can't comment.

I would say the English are most certainly in the minority here and I would say the resort as well,we only heard about a handful of English families in the whole of our weeks stay. This is not a problem. However, certainly noticed the difference when we went to Alcudia!!

The little cafe on the beach do a lovely homemade lemonade - try it.

Yes, I would come back to this hotel and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it I am just a little disappointed after all the glowing reports and it being no 1 in Alcudia.

Room Tip: You need a high floor room for views- I e-mailed before but still ended up on the 2nd floor. So good...

Check in: It was easy but not very welcoming staff and was surprised when We were almost expected to take our own luggage to our room. When raised the question staff said you would like some help? No one on the door and not automatic doors at the entrance, so push chairs or wheelchair users beware.

Slept in the afternoon and walls are super thin, lots of noise from the pool and next door room being cleaned by cleaner. Rooms spotlessly clean but quite small. Double beds made of two single beds and no kettles, uncomfortable beds, hard pillows and location of Tv makes it impossible for you to watch unless you want a neck or back ache.

Food is exceptional at this hotel and probably the only real positive. Plenty of choice both at breakfast and dinner but does get repetitive still enjoying everyday and look forward to it.

I am not sure how this hotel is number 1 in the area IMHO it is over rated and would not return ever!

Just returned from a great week at this hotel. The staff were exceptional from waiters and bar staff to the cleaners. The whole place was spotlessly clean. The rooms were a small but big enough for the 3 of us.The air conditioning wasn't the greatest and the fridge could have been bigger. Meals were excellent, plenty of variation with continental, English and vegetarian options. The indoor pool, jacuzzi and sauna were a big hit with us. As too were the outdoor pools. It was refreshing not to have to fight for sun loungers, there were always sun loungers available whatever time of day you wanted to go to the pool. The evening entertainment was a bit hit (Beatles tribute act) and miss (bingo and quiz). There is a bus stop outside the hotel with great bus service, €1.50 to Alcudia old town and port, as well as bus to Palma for less than €6. The hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the beach. Warm sea and shallow for the first couple hundred metres. Also only 5 minutes from road bike and mountain bike hire shops. Bikes were decent spec too! Would recommend this hotel if you're looking for a relaxing, chill out holiday.

We have just returned from a seven night stay at this hotel we found the rooms were really small for a family of three and the beds were very unconfortable and the food the evening meals were not great and were very repetitive . And the entertainment in the nights was very poor . The plus point are its very clean and the staff are excellent and very helpful

Just got back from another great stay at the Maritimo, have been about 10 times over the last 15 years & never a bad experience. Hotel is very clean, food lovely with plenty of choice, staff in the restaurant, bar & reception always helpful & friendly (especially Isidoro & Alexandra). Kids & Adults 'Animation' staff try hard to ensure all have a good time with a activities throughout the day, but don't push if all you want to do is relax by the pool. Hotel is only 5 minutes from the lovely Alcudia beach & easy bus ride to Alcudia Port or the Old Town. All in all another great holiday - will definately go back :-)

Room Tip: High floor rooms overlooking the garden/park are better as they have lovely views towards the port

We stayed here in early May 2013 and had a great time. Our room was spotlessly clean as was the hotel. The food was nice and the service was good. We actually stayed around the same time as 1jamie and we do remember him as he caused a bit of a scene (the hotel manager looked rather embarrassed at the whole outburst as did his partner) and we must say his review is not in our opinion wholly accurate. For starters it was early May, fair enough we had had a good run of weather that week but it was above average according to the locals so why he didn't think to pack trousers escapes us but fair enough his point would have been valid in peak time (from talking to our rep this was a new policy the hotel were trying out so I do wonder if they abandoned it as the temperatures rose). Also there were loads of under 50s - we're in our early 30s for starters. There was a bridge club who had booked out a couple of conference rooms to play bridge and fair enough they all looked to be retired folk but they didn't party too hard and we never once needed to ask them to keep the noise down or stop hogging the best spots by the pool! All in all we really enjoyed our stay and plan to go back :-)

Our only quibbles about the hotel would be:
Air con - ours didn't work either but the room was cool enough with the window open -
No free wi fi - but we didn't miss it
Safe - we could not work out how to work it
Bones left in the fish and rabbit - that wasn't nice :-( but the food otherwise was lovely (we just avoided the hake and rabbit from then on)

We had such a great time. it is very close to the beach and dinner buffet was awesome. AC was not that strong but as long as you leave the balcony doors open, you can feel the cool breeze. There are many bars and restaurants nearby so you can certainly try those as well.
