Globales Condes de Alcudia
Ranked #30 of 50 Hotels in Port d'Alcudia
Reviewed July 21, 2012

My Husband myself and our two children had a lovely stay at the Condes de Alcudia. The hotel room was clean and spacious for the four of us, its only a place to shower and sleep anyway as we were out at 8am for the day and back for a shower then out till 11pm. The reception staff were helpful and ok at speaking English however we are in their country so their English was better than our Spanish!!! The room maids could not speak a word of English but they always made a big fuss of our children and they were very sweet. We ( and our children ) used the general Spanish words such as please, thank you, hello, good bye. The food there was fine, lots of choice and all fresh however with so many resturants in the area we would miss our lunch and evening meal at the hotel most nights to eat out.Breakfast was great though. Bad points was that the lifts are really really small and at busy times like breakfast you could be waiting ages. We were on the 5th floor so we would use the stairs most times and carry our youngest child down. Also pool area is really tight. Beds are right next to the unknown person next to you so we would spend the day at the beach then come up to the pool on a late afternoon when most people had gone back to their rooms. The entertainment was ok some nights but the entertainers themselves were young and border line immature. Entertainment wasnt suitable to everyone, I noticed a smart oldish man and women having to watch people being chased and thrown into the pool, not too classy!! Lovely play area for the kids with slide and see- saw. Excurtions, we went to marineland which was fantastic. You could get up close and personal with a dolphin for 65Euros per person. Also went on the glass bottom boat but would not recommend as waters were rough ( lots of kids were sea sick ) ! Plus the engine of the boat scares the fish away so we didnt see anything but sea weed!!! To sum up its a lovely desternation, nice hotel and we would deffinatly go there again.

Room Tip: pool view is nice

We went to the Condes 30 June 2012 for seven nights. If I start with the good bits; the food...fantastic for a 3 star. Lots of choice, hot, replenished regular, Spanish/ European and English tastes catered for. That's it.
Bad bits: re meal time - only wine that you fetch yourselves available for all inclusives in the restaurant, anything else you have to go fetch from the bar...no where near the restaurant. At breakfast the most vile juice ever and coffees/ teas available...but no coffee or tea available at lunch or evening meal!
The hotel itself: horrible. Needs pulling down and starting over. There is no way this hotel competes to modern standards of hotels, I am sure in the 1970s this hotel was outstanding, but its not worth the money now. The lifts are a joke and only take four people at a squeeze, they don't feel safe at all. The rooms are basic, that's it..bit grubby, and again in desperate need of complete refurbishment or a bulldozer.
Pool - revolting..didn't even get in it.
Entertainment - if I'm objective..they were good at what they do..but the style of entertainment suited only some. So yes we could appreciate that other holiday makers appeared to love the entertainment ( very pontin esque) but it wasn't our cup of tea. All very cheesy.
Staff - okay, reception staff didn't always speak English which was a nuiscance when trying to communicate at 1 am that the lift sounds like its about to explode.
I agree with others the looky looky men where annoying and shouldn't have been allowed to venture onto the property. Especially when one decided my 12 year old daughter was marriage worthy and felt that 12 was an ok age.
Close to the beach and close enough to the shops...but overall horrible. Pull it down.
I gave it 2 stars based on the food was great and we ate way too much otherwise it would have been 1 star!

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel.

Me, my partner and her family (her mother and father) booked this hotel, knowing that it wasn't the best - but we were all shocked to see how poor some of the hotels attributes actually where.

The rooms:
As my partner and I only stayed in a double room, we didn't expect much in size, but found we were still surprised that the room was so small. The "double-bed" listed in the room description, was not a double-bed, but two singles pushed together (which proved extremely annoying as it was very easy to fall down the middle of them). The air conditioning system was working but was pretty weak compared to previous hotels. There was also alot of squashed Mosquito stains on the roof and walls, but by far the main problem with the rooms was that the Mosquitos seemed to find ways of getting in despite the valliant effort we made to keep all doors shut at all times. The verranda was a good size and, if you are lucky enough to get one facing the pool and on the first floor, was the only good point of the room. Television was ridiculously small and only had 2 English chanels.

Entertainment:
The Entertainers where very good (Ashley and Amy) but, despite there hard work, they just didn't seem to have the povisions or means to provide good entertainment. The entertainment was repeated in the second week, which was terrible anyway, and we found the only satisfying night was when there was a parrott show, and that also, was slightly low-budget.

Food:
The quality, variety and service of the food was excellent. Some of the best food I've had in any hotel was at the Condes De Alcudia (including 4 and 5 star hotels) and most of the time we found ourselves eating 3-4 plates full.

Pool:
The pool was very average. It was pretty small, but I suppose it done the job. (Good for a quick dip, not so good for entertainment and any form of variable fun). Pool games consisted of basketball everyday at 4pm, which was boys v girls, and got a bit repetetive after 3 days. A young boy nearly drowned during our stay, and would have if other guests hadn't helped him. My point being the lifeguards and pool staff (2 people) where terrible.

Security:
During our stay, a room was broken into, nothing was stolen but it kept us all on edge for the remainder of our stay. CCTV is advertised in the building as being consistent in all hallways and around the buildings, though my partner and I did not see one camera our entire stay (and trust me, we looked). However, the most irretating problem of the holiday was that anyone could walk through the hotel and pool area from the streets, we found at least 10-15 street vendors (looky-looky men) passed through the hotel every night during entertainment, and the security guard managed to dismiss one every 5-6 nights.

Overall:
Overall our stay here was a complete dissapointment and if it wasn't for the good food, my raiting would have been one star. I would not reccomend anyone to come to this hotel.

Ps. The all inclusive drinks were attrotious.
Pps. There is an excellent pool across the road in the 'Alcudia Gardens' which we ventured to a couple of times.

Room Tip: 1st floor has bigger virrandas and better showers.

What can one say good about this hotel? Well the staff. The catering, reception and cleaning staff were all fantastic doing a great job in terrible conditions.
The lift - Tiny. Parents had to take buggies up by the stairs. The rooms - Tiny, and the brouchure suggested they were fit for three people (hardly big enough for one!) The bathroom - whoever designed this must have been a midget. The toilet seat touched the wall with the sink overhanging it. I spent two days using the bar toilets. The shower was?? - well I could not turn round in it and I'm only 8 stone. The surrounding area: Pool was tiny for such a large hotel. The area around the hotel was derilict and boarded up on three sides. The retail outlets around it had not been open all season.
After two days we insisted on another room and it was given - almost routinely - that tells you something.
Oh, the food was generally good but the eating area again too small for all those guests.
We did have a good time in Alcudia but - please, pull this hotel down and rebuild it for normal sized people.

Room Tip: Insist on seeing your room first in case you can't get in the bathroom

We travelled with Thomas Cook on a package holiday at the Condes. The travel arrangements were spot on, I'm nervous re flying but the flight out couldn't have been smoother or more comfortable, stewards were very kind. The hotel was a pleasant surprise, large and very centrally placed but with a quiet relaxed feel - pool small but adequate.
Reception staff could speak English and were very efficient in booking us in and sorting out our keys. Our room on 3rd floor was spacious with balcony overlooking kids play area, had a nice bathroom with bath and most powerful shower ever! The restaurant was bright, spotless, with loads of attentive staff - the food was great, very plentiful with lots of choices always freshly prepared, we loved it!
There was terrific inhouse entertainment laid on, the team of talented young entertainers Ashley, Aimee and Ellie were first class! They were so friendly and worked hard to make sure all the guests had a good time and were included in activities we fancied, all free eg Archery, Rifle Shooting, Boules, Quizzes, Talent shows, In It to Win It!, Mr Condes competition, kiddies games etc.
The minus point for this hotel is the lack of security. Although there's a security guard around reception most of the time, people easily wander into the grounds and thefts do occur. Whilst we were there a young family reported there was an intruder on their first floor balcony trying patio doors, he ran off when challenged, but nothing was done about it.
