Owner description: World famous, are visited since 1898; inside is lake Martel, considered one of the largest underground lakes in the world, where live classical music concerts are performed every day. You can cross the lake on a boat at the end of the concert. BEWARE, there are two caves to visit in Porto Cristo, the largest and more frequently visited are the Caves of Drach. We advise to get tickets online from our web page, the same price than at the ticket office and you don´t need to print it.

A fabulous trip seeing some spectacular sights. The caves are magnificent. The music was very emotive and truly beautiful. I would echo a previous reviewer in that we were lucky as we were at the front and could hear the explanations of the different areas and information which we found fascinating, however if you were at the back you wouldn't hear a thing.

We were surprised at how many people were in our group as we were at the front. When we sat down for the concert, people just kept on coming.....in their hundreds! Which left us waiting for ages and ages. Still, very much worth it!

This was a fantastic trip, well worth the visit. We got a reduced price for entry by booking a catamaran boat ride. Was a great performance and an unexpected ride at the end!!

The caves themselves are visually fantastic and the entry price of 14 euros good value. The "concert" on the boat, and the boat ride are gimmicks. The procedure is that groups of around 400 people are taken round the cave. The "leader" gives a sentence about some parts of he cave (in around 5 languages) - if you are near the front and lucky enough to hear him, his accent is so bad you cannot understand him. Why not have a little sign explaning these scenes? Anyway, you then take a seat in front of the lake. It takes about 20 boring minutes for the whole group to arrive and sit down. Then a boat goes along the lake playing some awful music for about 10 minutes. Finally you have a choice of queueing up for a very short boat ride, or just walking out of the cave. It has potential to be a great experience, but in the event the whole thing is impersonal from start to finish and people are herded around like cattle.

The caves were amazing, dont forget your camera!! Pictures are allowed but not allowed to use flash. There were musicians playing in an underground cave, the sound was incredible. We were asked not to take pictures or film this but theres always some ignorant person thinks they're above the rules. Definitely worth a visit.
