Owner description: World famous; inside is lake Martel, considered one of the largest underground lakes in the world, where live classical music concerts are performed every day. You can cross the lake on a boat at the end of the concert. BEWARE, don't get deceived by another small caves in Porto Cristo, their road signs can be confusing.

“Amazing but no card machine for tickets”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 18, 2014

Amazing must see if go to Majorca but please take cash as they don't have a card machine for paying. Also none of the shops or cafe open if you go to the first tour.
But must go see these caves, with a concert at the end of it.

“Mites & Tites”

Great caves with interesting formations marred only by overcrowding & a tacky orchestral boat show as the finale.

“Must see!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 17, 2014

The cave was beautiful and I was quite relaxed by the end of the trip into the cave. But if you have a problem with climbing stair or problems with the joints in your legs or back, make sure you have someone with you to assist you. There are well cut steps, so not such a big issue....but still...better safe.

“Not bad out of season but I bet its a nightmare in summer!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2014

Our family visited the caves on our recent holiday to Majorca in April. It was quite a cool day - about 22 degrees - in fact it felt warmer inside the cave than outside! - and there were only about 30 people or so on our hour long tour of the caves so there was no pushing or shoving and hearing the guide wasn't a problem for us - neither was waiting for people to catch up. We also seemed to have plenty time to look around us at the cave formations - presumably because there were so few people. We enjoyed looking around the caves and found some of the formations amazing - especially the ones that looked like pieces of bacon or curtains! You do have to listen very carefully - again an advantage to going when there are very few people around - as the guide has a very strong accent and it is hard to make out what he says. He does the same explanation in at least 4 languages, Spanish, German, English and French on our tour, I don't know if he does others at different times. I can speak a bit of Spanish and German and quite a lot of French and sometimes I found the other languages easier to understand than the English! In fact, my 10 year old daughter couldn't understand him at all and I had to translate his English for her!! Nonetheless, it is pretty impressive to speak 4 languages well enough to understand and answer questions in each, so I really shouldn't complain about his accent, however I can understand how you would struggle to understand if you were stood at the back of 100 people. The "show" is a bit silly but it was ok since there was just a few of us - we all got to sit near the front and could see and hear everything properly with not too much hanging around. We thought the music was quite atmospheric and the lights on the boats were pretty but then again, we hadn't been pushing and shoving for the last half hour! We did the little boat ride - although it is a bit pathetic - about 100 feet across the lake! We did comment at the time that it must be atrocious during the summer as it took 3 boats just to take the few of us across the lake. We thought it must take forever to load up a whole room full of tourists. In general we had a nice time, but it is quite expensive for what you get and the "show and boat ride" is a bit misleading. I think it would be best to avoid this attraction during the main holiday season though - I can easily see how you would be herded around like cattle and miss everything worth seeing.
