Owner description: World famous, are visited since 1898; inside is lake Martel, considered one of the largest underground lakes in the world, where live classical music concerts are performed every day. You can cross the lake on a boat at the end of the concert. BEWARE, there are two caves to visit in Porto Cristo, the largest and more frequently visited are the Caves of Drach. We advise to get tickets online from our web page, the same price than at the ticket office and you don´t need to print it.

The underground caves and lakes are a truly memorable sight. And the finale to the tour is sensational (i wont reveal it for those who haven't been but it is enchanting). The ban on photography in the caves is strictly enforced, obviously so the owners can make their money from the post cards. Although organised tours are available taking a hire car is much more convenient and probably cheaper for larger groups plus u have the freedom to visit the beautiful coves that dot the east coast of Mallorca. Unfortunately this attraction is not suitable for the infirm or very young children. If you are taking older kids be sure they can cope with the crowded confines. While u can get food and refreshments at the caves be prepared to pay over the odd's as with all major attractions. Phobia sufferers beware, for those with agoraphobia hang about and join the end of the tour as i did claustraphics should do the same or try to get to the front even if you have to wait for the next tour. That way you are at the very tail end or front of the crowd and have an escape route behind or ahead of you. If you think you cant cope then please don't risk it. Even at the back of the tour i was struggling towards the end.

The music at the bottom of the case was out of this world. The little barges looked divine and so romantic.

Walked up to the caves from the port which was a bit challenging to say the least, probably better to spend a few extra Euros and catch a taxi up the hill!! On arrival there was a massive queue to get in but it moved quite quickly which was a relief as it was 36 degrees outside! Once inside it was a bit cramped and you could not stop for long to admire the views as ther were hundreds of people behind you.
However, these are all the negatives and the positives easily outweigh the negatives. The caves are beautiful and the seating area beside the lake (once you work out what is happening) provides an excellent vantage point for the sound and light experience! This was the highlight of the visit and was full of surprises. I won't share them all because...it will spoil your fun!!
Overall definitely worth the effort!!!

One of the most amazing things i ever done and seen in all my life. Very easy to get too by coach or rather local bus, might get a little expensive if with small familys as they charge same amount for children and adults but worth it. About 9 to 11 euros, with cafe and small gift shop. Lots of steps to get in and out but a wide foot path so no stress if people want to over take you. When inside pretty level and amazing sites and a suprise inbetween.
