“Great time - try it for yourself!”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

My Fiancé and I have just arrived back on 5/07/2013 from a week’s stay at the Hotel Felipe.
After reading some of the reviews on here, we weren’t sure what to expect but we had a brilliant time. We weren’t planning to visit Majorca again this year having been to Alcudia last year but we had a certain budget with having a wedding to save up for and this holiday matched it!
I was unimpressed (to say the least) with the company we booked with, but the less said about that during this review the better!
Due to the terrible experience we had, I spoke with Irma the manager prior to our arrival and she made sure everything was just as requested for us. We were originally booked into a promo room in the annexe but upgraded to a 4th floor harbour view room which was beautiful. Agreed, the rooms are quite small but realistically how much time will you spend in there? The view from our balcony was stunning and we spent time there each day just watching the world go by. The rooms were well cleaned and maintained by the staff and we had no issues.

The hotel itself was very quaint and right in the heart of things, just a stone’s throw from the beach-bliss!
The hotel, grounds and pool were all clean, tidy and very pleasant, all of the staff were very kind and helpful to us at all times, especially Irma. The bar and serving staff work tirelessly.
The food was what you expect from all-inclusive food! I am a vegetarian and managed to find things to eat each day. The salad selection was delicious, as was the fresh bread always on offer and there was always fresh fruit to hand. I though the bottles of Cava at breakfast time were a lovely touch, you could add fresh orange to make bucks fizz. They don’t always label the foods on a lunch time like they do of an evening so beware if you are fussy or can’t eat certain foods.
The pool is small but it’s a total suntrap, we found we could always get beds and spent a few lazy afternoons drinking sangria by the pool, couldn’t complain at all. The spa and gym facilities are great for a small hotel, there is an indoor pool with fountains, a sauna, steam and a small amount of gym equipment. We paid for a massage and it was worth every penny!

Porto Cristo is quiet, but in the best possible chilled out and relaxed way. There are some lovely bars and restaurants dotted around the harbour which serve food and drinks and often have live music playing, Ideal for a relaxing night wandering between them and having a few cocktails.
There is a market on a Sunday right outside of the hotel, it’s not very big but there were some very good stalls, especially the freshly squeezed juices!

As a young couple, we sometimes like things a bit more lively so we had two nights out in Cala Millor, the last bust leaves Porto Cristo for there at 20:30pm and only cost €1.90 each. We returned via taxi which cost approx. €14. Cala Millor is larger and therefore much more lively than Porto Cristo, when we arrived both evenings around 9pm people were still shopping and there was a buzzing atmosphere. After asking advice we visited a few cocktail bars such as Hollywood, Bananas and the Shisha Lounge and we finished off in the nightclub Havanna for a dance. We had a really good night and got lots of great drinks deals.

Whilst in Porto Cristo we explored the harbour area fully and visited Fussio Lounge and Eternal Bar amongst others. We also visited the caves of Drach which were stunning and worth a visit – I’d recommend going early or late – we went to the 2pm session and it was heaving!
When I read the reviews of people complaining I am often surprised. I can understand complaints if you paid a lot of money for your holiday or things were truly awful, but this hotel was fab for the price we paid. I always try to have fun and see the best in things. We had a really good holiday and a lot of fun. If you want pure luxury – pay luxurious prices!

I would honestly say don’t let the reviews put you off, go and live it for yourself. I am happy to answer any questions if there’s anything I’ve missed!

The hotel itself is very nice and the staff are really helpful. The beach is over the road (not attached to the hotel) and you have to pay €12 per day for 2 sunbeds and a parasol. The pool attached to the hotel is tiny and there are only a couple of sunbeds (which are all snapped up at the crack of dawn by people leaving their towels on them). The food in the hotel is geared mainly towards the German visitors (thankfully we only had B&B). On the other hand there was toast, cereal and fruit. The restaurants nearby were quite nice but everything seemed to come with chips or a burger of sorts - all the pictures of the food on offer was a sad shade of yellow/orange (where were all the veg?!). There were 2 nights when we didn't go out for tea as we couldn't face the lack of options. Saying that there were some really nice meals to be had and I think we needed more time to try other places for more of a selection. The entertainment in the hotel is rather odd. The average age of guests here is around 40-50 and on Saturday night (06.07.13) they had a night of dance music (and I don't mean the old fashioned kind of dance!). Not sure why this was thought to be appropriate music. (I am in my 30's and even I didn't like it!). Not a bad place to stay but next time will be somewhere with a proper pool and attached directly onto the beach too.

My husband and I have just returned from a week at the Felip. The staff were freindly and helpful, however there doesn't seem to be many of them with no table service for drinks - you have to go to the bar as you would back home in England, obviously not the worst thing in the world but not as you'd expect in Majorca. We were lucky to get a room at the front with a lovely view of the sea and the marina. The room was a little dated, but very clean, with comfortable beds and a very nice contemporary bathroom (in comparison to the bedroom), the maid service was a little eratic with some days getting towels and a bath mat and sometimes not, this was the same with clean wine glasses and tumblers. Generally every thing was ok with the rooms, the food however was not ok. Considering this is rated a 4* the food definately brings it down to 2*. Luckily we were 1/2 board and not All Inclusive, but B&B would be the best option, even though breakfast is the same every day. I cannot comment on lunch but some AI guests advised they were unsure what they were being offered most of the time as it was unidentifiable! Dinner - I had soup as a starter 2 nights running, chicken and rice and then he next night cream of asparagas, they looked and tasted exactly the same, mains was bland watery and looked unappetizing, but unlike lunch, there was a description of the dish offered. All veg seems to be tinned, and the potato dishes frozen, the fish all tasted the same and the meat was soggy and tasteless. Pudding was the same cake every night with a few extras of cheese and fresh fruit. I can safely say that the food was truly awful, with all of the english guests we spoke to agreeing, one lady actually describing it as 'rank'! Having said all of this the resort was charming with a fantastic beach, the whole place bounces with life during the day and becomes very quiet in the evinings - very relaxing. We still had a lovely holiday but would certainly not return to this hotel until the chef has been replaced!!

Room Tip: Go for a room at the front with a sea view - we were lucky to be allocated this, but reading previou...

Our first thoughts of this hotel were that it appeared very quaint. The hotel is spotlessly clean but some of the staff definitely need retraining in customer service, although the manager is excellent and very professional. Wew were on an all inclusive holiday and felt that we were always being told off. On the first morning we took our breakfast outside to eat on the terrace and were told off that we weren't allowed to do this. There are no signs that you are not allowed and many people did this after us. The hotel kept running out of drinks, firstly draught beer, vodka, Tia Maria and cava. We had an argument with the bar man one night as he would not give us the named alternative and the manager spoke to him the next day as he did actually have cava but
did not want to open a new one at 11.10 pm. As we were all inclusive we wanted to take our drinks on the beach which you are not supposed to. However after speaking to the manager she allowed us to do this. The pool area is very small and not particularly nice to sit around. Food is ok although it can become a bit boring. I had a hair in my food one night. When I told the waitress she just shrugged her shoulders. By this time I had got fed up of complaining. I think they are very short staffed in this hotel and the staff seem to be very stressed. At breakfast time people were having to clear their own tables before sitting down.

This is definitely a 3 star hotel. Ensure that you have a room at the front. We requested this before we went. However all being said we did have a good time. The beach is lovely but you do have to pay for sun beds. Two excellent restaurants that we went to were the scirocco and Sa Sal. Also excellent massage in the spa.

Room Tip: Ensure you get a room at the front. We were in 302

The minute we arrived at this hotel we just knew it was going to be something special. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and our hotel room had spectacular views of the beach and the marina.

We stayed all inclusive and contrary to other reviewers we were made to feel valuable customers. Yes there were just a couple of occasions when there appeared to be no bar staff but if you asked at reception someone came immediately. Waiters constantly asked if you needed a drink at mealtimes and the drinks were of a high quality.

The food was self-service buffet type, was plentiful and could differ from being delicious to average but certainly never bad. The only thing I would say is don’t leave breakfast until the last half hr or you will be limited for choice.

One thing we couldn’t understand is why they provided a kettle in our room. Only 2 sachets of coffee/sugar are provided as a welcome pack (no milk) and after that you have to remember to take up any water/milk/coffee/tea which is a bit of a chore.

The pool area is very small but we never used this due to there being a lovely beach directly across the road. The spa pool is also very small but we did spend a little time enjoying this along with the sauna/steam room which were lovely added extras and the massage? Excellent and highly recommended!

As previously stated this is not a hotel to book into if you want to party but if its total relaxation, peace and quiet and time to recharge your battery that you want this is a perfect setting and the hotel staff will go out of their way to please you.

We stayed for five nights and were more than happy. We arrived and were told we were in the annex. After reading previous reviews I had paid extra not to be. They sorted it quickly and gave us a sea view. Really nice view. Rooms were nice and the bathroom was lovely. The downside was the pool, it was so small that we didn't go once. The lovely beach made up for it though. We were bed and breakfast and the breakfast was ok. I think it is more for all inclusive to be honest. Nice hotel and fantastic location.

If your looking for a hotel with nightly entertainment or a lively resort do not go to Porto Cristo at all. If you like us are looking for a quiet ,calm ,pretty hotel set in the most stunning position then this is just that. We originally booked a promo room but after reading some reviews upgraded to a room with a sea view which was well worth the 12€ a night.
We found that the food was as most all inclusive hotels serve with plenty to eat and drink ,and the staff from waiters to management were all very helpful. People complain that the service wasn't as good as people who were half board ,the answer is simple a little tip is much appreciated .
Porto Cristo is such a pretty little place and suited to people looking for a quieter charming place to stay, the beach is busy with local children in the day and families later on and is totally charming to see them having such fun on their beach
