“Most expensive beer in majorca”
Reviewed November 16, 2011

Ripped 5.5 euros for a glass of Spanish beer.
Visit the 4 star hotel next door and pay 2 euros less.

“Complete rip off”
Reviewed October 16, 2011

Wish I had read the comments posted here before going to Porto Cristo, but there you go. On a day trip to the Caves, went down to the port for something to eat. Nice view along the esplanade, so were expecting to pay a premium. Sat down and looked through the menu, 9 Euros for a plain pizza margherita, and no price list for drinks.
We ordered a couple of cokes and when the bill came they were 4.80 Euros each. That was too much for my partner, who went looking for the manager. She spoke to an English guy she believed was the manager and asked him why he didnt put a price list out for drinks, to which he responded "Because we are not obliged to"
When asked how he could justify the prices for the coke he replied "Because we are not charging 10", which kind of says it all.
Okay, so we could have asked for the prices beforehand and made our excuses and left, which was our mistake. Here's hoping you dont make the same one. Make sure you check the prices beforehand whenever you can, and be prepared to take a walk and find somewhere better priced that is more friendly and amenable.
Here's hoping enough people take note and the owners change their attitude - there is plenty of competition out there and times are tight. Hit them where it hurts, in their pocket, and maybe they will change their practise. Consumer power, people.

“Overpriced”
Reviewed July 27, 2011

lovely view so expecting to pay a premium, but the food was dismal even by British standards. 18 euros for calamares that were at best average - in a fishing village of all places! No napkins on tables, one ice cube in drink, tiny things but in Spain you are used to better. Wish if read the reviews before we sat down here.

“Complete rip off!!!”
Reviewed June 19, 2011

Cheese omelette is a couple of eggs, handful of cheese and maybe a drop of milk?? Some how that was 9.60EUR.

Chips....4.95EUR

Large beer, San Miguel.....very cold, very nice.......er, 6.80EUR

Small bottle of water, very cold.....3.80EUR

Pizzas....12.40 for ham, 11.80 for salami......standard plate size

Cheese and ham toastie.....6.10EUR, for two slices of bread a bit of ham and some cheese.....maybe the electricity to toast it was expensive!

Our party of four adults and two kids had pizzas, toasties, omelettes, beer, coffee and water and the bill came to 112EUR.

I was hoping for a nice day out in Portocristo, but it was ruined! Similar snack lunches cost less than half of what we were billed for here!!

Plastic tables and chairs are soon to be gold-plated!

“Avoid "Es Tanit" restaurant - Rip off!”
Reviewed May 25, 2011

The orange and blue "Es Tanit" restaurant in Porto Cristo Majorca, well I just put down my rip off there to just bad luck and promised to say something sometime about it as my annoyance lingered on. Seeing this subject on Trip Advisor was the perfect opportunity as I also had taken a photo of the dump to warn others. We had parked our car opposite to it and our car door opened right against a table on the pavement they had commandeered this side of the street for extra space. Four of us entered the main establishment and had a lunchtime snack there consisting of two small toasted ham and cheese sandwiches, two hamburgers and a small bowl of chips. The two men had a large glass of beer each and the two ladies each had a glass of house white wine. The beer was San Miguel and was excellent as one would only expect. The house white wine was poor tasteless and disappointing. One of the ladies accidentally knocked her glass as the "snack" was being served and asked the waitress for a replacement. This never arrived and the matter was not pushed as the wine was terrible anyway.

The food was good and as we finished we asked for the bill to receive the shock of a charge of €54 70. Notably the two beers were €11 which is the most expensive I have ever paid on the Island and indeed comparable to the price one would be uncomfortable with in a five star hotel. The balance was for the burgers, sandwiches and two wines, so do your own sums to figure out the value. On leaving we saw that the tables and chairs on the opposite pavement were also inhibiting access to public steps. You can also see a couple with their backsides against a table trying to gain access to their car.
It is obvious this restaurant's owners care as little about good value as they do about the general public. I'm glad to say the restaurant was almost completely empty as you can see in my photograph. Be warned stay away and tell others.
