My husband and I stayed at the Marina Portals last weekend for 3 nights.

The hotel is situated stumbling distance from bars and restaurants (we can highly recommend the Continental Restaurant to the right of the hotel), 150m from the bus stop and taxis and a 10m more or less stroll to the Port, where there are some more good places to eat and drink. We ate at The Diabolito, the Pizza was excellent.

As for the hotel, all of the staff were polite and helpful. The rooms were spotless, beds comfortable and although no tes or coffee available in rooms and only sky news to watch on the TV, was a very nice place to stay.

Parts of the hotel still seem to be in an 80´s time warp, but the rooms have all (I think) been updated. There is a small heated indoor pool and a large outdoor (which was freezing and people were swimming in it - were they mad?!). There are also 2 kids pools, mini golf and a Spa.

The breakfast was not too bad. Best thing about it was the eggs cooked to order, everything else seemed to have been sitting out that little too long!

This hotel was above all clean and comfortable, which in my book is what matters.

We stayed in room 627, which was a family room, with two bedrooms and one bathroom. A bargin at 60€ a night.

I would defo return to this hotel, especially at that price.

Having booked the hotel at a really cheap rate for bed and breakfast, i was really surprised at how nice it was. We went for a hen weekend and found it ideally located, within walking/stumbling distance from the harbour, where there are some great bars (would recommend Bar Karma) and there are some lovely restaurants on the harbour.

The rooms were really nice and all had lovely views, food was good and a friendly karaoke bar across the road where we would start our drinking from. Would not recommend going into Magaluf, as we found it tacky and rowdy - but loved Portals Nous.

Was fab for a girly weekend and would definately go back!

We have stayed at this hotel twice in the last two years and have been on a couple of occasions prior to that.
There are loads of pro's and cons, my overall opinion is that its a faded 80's hotel with average service in a fantastic location.

Food - Just the usual Euro-hotel fayre, mixed bag of continental and English food, we've all been there a million times, if you expect a restaurant serving for 300 heads every night on a small budget to stun you with excellent food you are misguided, try to avoid half board as there are plenty of great restaurants around.

Facilities - Again, showing their 1980's heritige, the hotel needs a revamp. Decor and quality of rooms and surrounds is average. The pool is very good, yet there are issues with towels on the chairs but you get that everywhere. My wife and I have always been great believers in taking our things with us when we pop out for lunch etc - inevitably struggle for a bed when we return but bed hogs annoy me so much that I'd hate to be one. The kids love the pool, there are loads of children around and its the hotels major plus.

Staff - mixed bag really, the reception staff have a tough job because the administration of the hotel is utterly hopeless. We had a terrible time this year as they screwed up our reservation along with those of virtually every other group who checked in within my sight. The suggestion of the staff was that we put our kids 8&2 in a room on their own on the 4th floor and we sleep in another room -I can just imagine the headlines now as my kids fall off the balcony! They did sort the issue after 3 days but only because I was a complete pain.

Location - Brilliant, Portals Nous is a fantastic location to travel from, I wouldnt want to spend all of my time there but we always take a hire car so that we can get out every day. Good beaches, great restaurants (Wellies special rib of beef is pricey but a must do) and all round a decent place to relax and unwind.
Giving this hotel a miss in 2008 but look forward to hearing if they at long last work out how many people they have promised rooms to and how many rooms they have? Maths is so difficult isnt it?!

Pleasant reception area was carried through to most other parts of this hotel.

As others have indicated the breakfasts were superb and I would definitely say that this is the way to enjoy your stay here. (Our one evening meal in the hotel was very disappointing).

We went for the October half term and our two teenage daughters seemed to enjoy themselves even though the hotel/resort were probably a bit too quiet for them.

The staff were always helpful and friendly and the maids seemed to work non stop to keep the place spotless.

The family rooms, really adjoining bedrooms, - each with their own TV and balcony - worked very well for us.

Probably worth noting that there seemed to be more northern continental europeans than brits and that generally speaking the customers seemed to be 45+ agewise.

A very reasonably priced hotel a 10 minute walk up the hill from Porta Nous marina, comfortable double beds, excellent bathroom with clean sheets and towels daily. Reasonable buffet breakfast, poor coffee, at least if you like expresso. We paid just under £60 per night. Will return

We have just returned from 3 nights at the hotel Marina Portals.

We had a family room which was excellent with two large bedrooms (1 double and 1 twin), both with TV and a shared full bathroom. The room was clean, well maintained and they provided plenty of extra pillows, blankets and towels.

The staff were all friendly and helpful. We actually did not have a room for the final night as they had no rooms when we originally booked but the reception staff arranged for us to stay in our room for all 3 nights which was great.

We arrived just after the mini typhoon and the gardens and pool area had suffered some damage but the staff soon had everything back to normal and our stay was not disrupted at all.

The breakfast buffet offered a very wide choice and was open from 730 til 1030 so you didn´t have to rush.

The bar area gets quite busy in the early evening and this hotel seems very popular with golfers.

The pool terrace was spacious with plenty of sunbeds, umbrellas and a pool bar. The garden is terraced though so may not be suitable for some people.

The heated indoor pool was a little disappointing - small and shallow but better than nothing in the winter! There is a also a gym but we didn´t get round to that.

There is a small beach within walking distance and a selection of bars, shops and restaurants opposite the hotel. (Jose´s is very nice for a meal and Lloyd´s serves great coffee)

The area is much nicer area than nearby Magaluf if you are a couple or family! The port area of Marina Portals is lovely in the evening (try Binnacles) and we also had a super meal at a restaurant in the hills (Cán Pedo I think)

We live on the mainland and did notice that it was quite a bit more expensive here but worth it for a lovely weekend away.
