Reviewed December 15, 2012

Great hotel with fantastic staff, in great setting being able to hear the sea from your bed, if I stayed longer would have to purchase a full new wardrobe in larger size..... over the food and drink!

Thanks to all!!!! and looking forward to going back

The receptionists are not friendly or service-oriented (their approach is either "it is not possible" or "do it yourself"). Rooms are old-fashioned and all the showers leak (which means your bathroom is floded after every shower). The facilities described in their website (gym, tennis courts) are either non-existant -gym- or simply facilities owned by other hotels and obviously subject to a fee. The beaches nearby are pretty ugly. And the hotel is fully oriented to German tourists, which makes you feel in Germany (dinner is served at 7pm) rather than in Spain. The only item up to the 5-star category is the food and service at the restaurant.

Room Tip: Ask a room with integrated bathtub/shower (the ones with separated shower get floded).

We visited Cala Fornells last summer and stayed in the Coronado Hotel. We wandered into the Petit and vowed to return this year. So glad we did. It reminded us of a stunning place in Florence, Torre Di Bellosguardo, and the Residencia Hotel in Deia (didn't stay in this one but had lunch) but for a fraction of the price. It felt exclusive but in a comfortable way, with the 24 rooms allowing room for space and true relaxing.

Service was excellent, a wonderful, kindly staff who go out of their way to make your stay the best possible. Yes, the guests are predominantly German but it is none the worse for that. They were charming and impecably behaved. The food was some of the best we have enjoyed abroad and dinner and breakfast can be served on the most gorgeous terrace overlooking the bay.

Plenty of nooks and crannies around the gardens to rest and relax throughout the day.
Desperate to return!!

Room Tip: All seemed to be great

We stayed at this hotel for a long weekend in October on a H/B basis, the hotel is on a fairly steep hill and access to most rooms is either by lift if you are lucky enough to stay in the hotel, we were given a room/suite which seemed to wind its way up the hill, thank goodness we didnt have heavy luggage as I was tired by the time I got to the room sooo many steps, its definately not for the infirm or buggies. We were greeted very warmly by the host, she was very very pleasant and then shown to our room, it really was lovely like a honeymoon suite with a four poster, view was nice also, the weather when we arrived was pretty cool if not cold and many people had fleeces on with hiking boots so we felt totally alien with our flip flops and tshirts, anyway the weather got better I'm glad to say, I must admit I felt as thought I was in Germany as everything was in German, even down to the menus which I wasnt happy about as I love practicing my Spanish. There is a great national park next door to the hotel and it seemed to be busy with lots of walkers. Hotel food in the evening was excellent 5 star on this. Dont get this hotel confused with the Hotel Cala Cornells, its totally separate but you can see their swimming pool and they have a lovely area that looks out over the sea, this did indeed look a nice hotel and we would maybe think about this one in the future. Apart from that its a 10-15 min walk into town to the beach area and the more touristy part, you do have to walk down a lot of steps and the climb up is horrendous so its definately an area to keep fit I would think but a lovely weekend was had by all. There is a little aviary next door to the hotel with lovely colourful birds which you can see from my pics. The weather really picked up and we sat in the sun it was around 70-75 degrees and people were swimming in the sea, so all in all yes nice hotel.

Room Tip: Try to get a room inside the hotel if you are not wanting to walk up and down stairs all day.

We were nervous as often is the case when arriving at a different hotel.we arrived at 2230 hrs a bit peckish and a plate of cold meats and some bread and salad appeared free of charge, which when washed down with a nice glass of cava was an excellent start to our breakette.A lovely hotel, with good service, good food, beautiful views and no need to rush down in the mornings to claim a sun bed ..well not too early anyway... We will go back next year!

We stayed at Hotel Petit Cala Fornells in early June 2011 and had a fabulous time. The hotel has an enviable location with views across the bay. Terrace bar was a terrific spot to watch the evening light fade. Just next door to the hotel was a country park and forest that led to some beautiful scenery – great for early morning walks before breakfast.

One night we saw a thunderstorm a long way off roll over Palma with some spectacular lightning, luckily the storm missed us.

Our room was good sized and very well fitted out with comfortable furnishings and nicely decorated. The bathroom was a good size (we had one of the rooms at the end of the corridor so our bathroom was larger than others) and very clean. The staff were lovely - nothing was too much trouble.

Hotel Petit Cala Fornells is a wonderful and relaxing place to stay, we would recommend a visit.

Located about a mile walking distance from the center of Peguera along the scenic Calle de Cala Fornells. The property is built on a steep cliff offering views of the nearby cove, picturesque waterfronts, and the Balearic Sea. These views can also be enjoyed from each one of the 24 rooms as they all have balconies. The rooms are equipped with functional furniture of which some pieces could use an update. Do not plan on watching TV unless you don't mind a small set with a handful of channels (in Spanish or German). The free Wi-Fi is not super fast but it gets the job done. The bathrooms have a Euro-Mediterranean flare with a constantly changing water temperature and pressure, so showering can get tricky. There are four pools at this hotel (3 outdoors 1 indoors). The water in the outdoor pools is too cold to hang out in but it's perfect temp. for swimming. However the pool area itself is beautiful and offers plenty of lounge chairs. For beaches, we used the Peguera public beaches which are right off of Peguera Boulevard, a long street lined with stores and eateries. The food at Petit was amazing and earned the 5-star grading. The half board includes breakfast and dinner and I'd highly recommend that arrangement. It was the perfect choice for us since it allowed us to leave the premises during the day and experience some other dining venues in the area. I'd suggest to the management to scrap the fitness center from their list of amenities . . . it is an embarrassment in its current state. All in all, we had an amazing stay and feel like we made the most of what this small hotel had to offer. It is the perfect choice if you are looking to stay away from crowds and the big resorts.
