Me (21yrs old) and my mother have just come back from a 1 week stay at the Santa Lucia Hotel. After reading reviews on here saying that the majority of guests were elderly it's fair to say we were a little concerned! But much to our relief although the reviews were correct In saying that there were a lot of elderly, there were also quite a few younger guests too so at least we weren't the odd ones out. Overall we were both completely blown away by such a lovely well run hotel in the perfect position with plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and beautiful beaches either side. We would very happily return again.

POSITIVES:
The Staff (everyone) are absolutely brilliant and extremely helpful. We were always greeted by reception or at meal times with a big smile. Even the maids would make a point of saying "ola" in the morning.
The location is PERFECT!
The pool is lovely and peaceful. We originally planned on going to the beach each day and renting sun loungers and parasols but after spending one morning by the pool we chose to return there every day after. There is also plenty of room between guests so you are able to move your lounger around easily and be able to have a conversation without being majorly overheard.
The food is great. We were half board but hadn't planed on regularly eating at the hotel. However, after having our first breakfast and dinner we only ate out a few times after that. Breakfast is brilliant, every morning there was: Fresh rolls, bread, fried eggs, sausages, bacon, baked beans, tomatoes, potatoes, a selection of jams and honeys, hams, cheese, cereals, fruit, croissants, several sweet pastries plus at least 5 types of fruit juice and tea and coffee! Dinner time is also good with soups, several options for mains, loads of sides, always plenty of fresh salad and a few options for desert. The drinks at dinner time are a tad pricey but as you are not spending out on a meal elsewhere you don't mind paying a little bit more for it. We have said that if we return again we will go full board.
The rooms are spotlessly clean.
Thompson reps are 9/10 around and are very helpful. They make a point of coming out and checking that everything is alright.

NEGATIVES:
The entertainment was terrible. Actually quite uncomfortable and cringe worthy! A few guests we spoke to agreed and chose to sit outside in the evening instead of watch it. It seemed to be perhaps more suited to the elderly clients. Playing bingo and watching a grown man run around the entertainment room to Livin La Vida Loca pretending to ride a fake Donkey for the duration of the whole song is not mine, or it seems many of the other guests idea of entertainment as the room had almost emptied before the act had finished. This was I believe the Blues Brothers?. We therefore chose to go out each evening. On the plus side to the left of the hotel on the beach front there are 3 bars that have live entertainment every night! This is a much better option that staying at the hotel in the eve. Dianas beach bar has a live Flamenco dance performance every Monday evening which Is incredible- make sure you check it out. I fear that If the hotel doesn't improve entertainment it may loose future guests which would be a shame as its a lovely hotel.
The decking that surrounds the indoor pool and the wooden bridge handrail is dangerous. You can feel it moving as you walk on it and some parts completely lift up. So just make sure you wear footwear.
The beds are a little hard. Fine for a week but could be a problem for any longer.
The lefts are extremely slow and regularly not all in order.
No activities for children

If the entertainment could be updated to be suitable for all ages and a bit more varied eg not just singing- maybe dancing etc & pool side decking repaired it would make a huge difference.

Had a fab two weeks here. Lovely hotel. Right on the beach. All rooms are sea view, impressive views. Very nice beach. Sunbeds on the beach cost a fortune. Go to the hotel shop, buy your lilo, and hire a parasol for a fiver, for the duration of your holiday. Save about €160 for two weeks. The breakfast here was ok, the usual streaky bacon, sausage eggs ext. There are loads of places that do full English for a few euros, really nice breakfasts. The evening meals are really good. Plenty to choose from, about 3 different meats and fishes, that can be cooked to it liking, staff also very friendly. I can't really tell you much about the entertainment, as we went out every night, the bar was always full though, so must of been ok. Visit the 3 brothers bar across the road from the hotel, great place to relax, Thomas, and Christopher (aka) Champagne Charlie, are great guys. You can also get a tbone steak at the ddq restaurant right next door, all the fellas had to have one, their huge.
It's also worth taking a trip to Palma, you can get the but around the corner for just €3 each, some great street entertainers, and of course an impressive Cathedral.

Room Tip: All rooms are sea view.

The Santa Lucia is a great hotel situated centrally in Palma Nova and overlooking the beach. All rooms have sea views. The food was excellent, the staff were friendly, the pool was lovely and fairly warm.you have to get up early for a sunbed. The shops and bars are all opposite the hotel and magaluf is only a ten minute walk. The sea is lovely and warm in september. The sunbeds and parasol on the beach are 13.50 euros a day.The evening entertainment is good with tribute acts to the four tops and Abba. The hotel is lovely and clean with internet and massage chairs. There are organized games in the daytime. The rooms are clean. The beds are a little firm for me.The staff cant do enough and the reps are friendly.well worth a visit.

Stayed here for a few days before a Thomson Cruise. Check in was efficient and first impressions were of a good quality hotel. It is in a good location with easy access to bars, restaurants, shops and the beach.

We had a room on the 8th floor with a lovely view of the beach. The room was clean but very small and in definite need of updating - the carpet in the bedroom had seen better days and the bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. The bathroom was clean but again in clear need of an upgrade.

The lifts were very slow - the doors seemed to take ages to shut - this may be due to the high number of people staying at the hotel who used walking sticks or other mobility aids to get about.

As others have reported, it is almost impossible to get a sunbed and there were often no chairs to sit in in the sun either.

We stayed half board and had no problems with getting drinks from the bar. Speaking to others who had stayed all inclusive, we were pleased that we had taken this option as they ended up paying extra for things like tonic water and certain draught beers as the lager wasn't what they wanted to drink. They also let us taste the wine to which they added lemonade to make it drinkable!

The food was OK but very 'samey' and often not very warm. We did enjoy the soups and salads though.

We went out each evening as the bingo and other entertainment didn't attract us.

There are much better hotels in Palmanova than the Santa Lucia and Thomson have some work to do to improve this for their clients

Room Tip: All have a beach view

What a joke! The best thing about this hotel was the swimming pool and location.

Food was disgusting as well as the service.

Bed's were extremely uncomfortable!

Cleanliness was random and only half done.

Felt divided by them and us attitude with people that were tag with an all inclusive wrist band and allocated seating areas.

Maybe a 3* rather than a 4*

This hotel I cannot fault at all, I had read many reviews about the rooms and the food not being a great standard, but I thought it was great. We were in a superior room on the 7th floor, which was beautiful... Really spacious and very modernly decorated, and the bathroom was very big, and absolutely spotlessly clean. There was plenty if choice at meal times, and food was always cooked fresh, was very nice. We went in the middle of July and never had any problems getting sunbeds, the pool area was always quite busy, but we always got sunbeds on the upstairs terrace, which was just lovely and peaceful. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel, and it's in a fab location also, right on the beach, with everything else on your doorstep! Love it! :)
