“Santa Lucia improved”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

Enjoyed 11 days at the Santa Lucia and must say they have improved the hotel in all departments, I criticies it last year but they have brought it back ti its former standard , well done.
The choice of food was better and cleanliness 5 star. The exterior has been modernised and looks better.

Room Tip: all rooms are good , with a sea view

Ok, just returned from our second stay at Santa Lucia, and its fair to say we wont be returning until we are over 70, and only then if they make some changes. Arrived at the hotel at 9.30am, and by 9.50am we had spent over 100 euros on hire of a safe, a fridge and a kettle and cups!! 61 euros for hire of the safe has risen, and for piece of mind you have no choice, but to have to pay for a fridge and kettle and cups, come-on these things should be standard in this day and age, we paid over £2000 for 10 days as it was so not happy with that. The hotel is geared more towards the older person, and that was reflected in the entertainment, bingo and quiz!!. Matt and Hannah are fab, but the manager and Thomson needs to get to grips with these issues before they lose customers. The sunbed issue is still a joke, we were woken every morning at 7am by the old dears clomping along the loose decking to put their towels on the sunbeds, it clearly states in the hotel guide that this is not acceptable, but noone police's it. There were 4 Thomson reps, and all but the lad named Joey were useless, the couple that came on holiday with us had 5 letters during their 10 day stay, 3 teling them to attend the leaving meeting after 4 days, 1 letter asking if they enjoyed their cruise and 1 thanking them for extending their holiday!!, all letters were reported to the reps but they still kept on being pushed under the door, even the cleaner asked them to hurry up and check out 3 days before we were due to leave!! The food was ok, and the staff at the hotel were polite and helpfull, but I think if it wasnt for the location of the hotel, it would be downgraded to a 3 star. Spain is really struggling with their ecomy and its reflected by the prices of everything, it really has gotten expensive there, at the waterpark you now have to hire the rubber rings and without them you cant go on any of the slides, also have to pay to lie on the sunbeds and to hire a locker, for 2 poeple it cost 120 euros! Pirates show reloaded costs 75 euros each which has also risen, so if you want to see and do quite a bit then make sure you take a wad of euros as everything has risen by almost double, as an example 2 buds, 2 vodkas 20 euros. Sounds like I'm having a good winge here but people need to know these things before they get there to avoid dissapointment, for any other tips, just ask away.

Room Tip: poolside for the sun, but be prepared to be woken early by the sunbed seekers

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel which is right on the beach and great for families. The rooms are tidy and clean and as well as being on the beach is also near to shops and retaurants.

The staff are very helpful and the dining room was well equipped and the food of a good standard.

Overall a very enjoyable stay

We have returned after a weeks cruising the med and had a weeks holiday in Santa lucia after. The hotel has a fantastic location. The pool did get a little crowded but this wasn't a problem as the beach was right on our doorstep. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated and the bonus was a lovely balcony with a beautiful sea view . The food was amazing and after a weeks cruising we wondered how it would live upto the food on the cruise but we were not disappointed. The choice was fantastic, always fresh and very varied. We would certainly return and would not hesitate to reccomended this hotel!

From the moment we arrived to the time we left, we enjoyed our holiday here. The hotel is in a great location, always very clean and the staff always very cheerful and polite, especially Miguel on the dining room door. The Thomson reps were always around when it said they were, and very helpful with where to go/visit ideas. We enjoyed using the upper terrace to sunbathe, yes its a walk to fetch drinks etc, but very relaxing, also the decking does need some attention.
The nightly entertainment was on the whole very good, the four tops tribute band were excellant, the blues brothers not so good. We enjoyed the nightly quiz and bingo, Matt and Hannah worked very hard, always smiling. We did not take part in the daily games etc, but they appeared to be well run.
We booked the upgraded rooms and were very impressed with them, i would agree that to have had a third bed in the room would have been a bit of a squash. Our towels were changed everyday, even the ones that we had not put for changing.
On the downside, and this makes me giggle, why oh why do people insist on saving sunbeds?? We witnessed some "saved" beds being used for no more than an hour, and on the morning we left, at 6am, people were sat waiting until 8am to save their place, or if not sat they were placing their towels in the queue, very sad.
We would definately consider another visit.

Room Tip: All have a sea view.

Stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions love the hotel and location only fault this year is that the sauna and steam room were never working other wise could not fault it although still to understand why you can not get a drink in the cocktail bar if you are all inclusive surely this is a form of discrimination
