“Great holiday!”
Reviewed August 11, 2012

I stayed at the Ponent Mar hotel with my family for a week, and we were all very satisfied with our choice. The hotel is situated a little bit outside the main Palma Nova center (a 10min. walk) so there was no hullabaloo or noise from the beach bars.
Bus stops were quite close as well so there is a good connection to Palma (it takes about 35mins, costs 3€ one way).
The rooms were good in size and very clean, we had a small kitchenette also but never really used it.
The pool area was absolutely lovely and never too crowded (we stayed in mid-June so the case may be wuite different later in the summer however!). And the view... Oh my, worth a million in my opinion!
Poolbar served little snacks, and once a week they had a paella demonstration which was truly excellent - best paella I´ve ever tasted in fact!
Every night there was some sort of activity in the hotel bar (flamenco show, music quiz etc.), and during the day they had water gymnastics etc. in the pool area.
Breakfast was very good also, all the basics (toast/jam/juices/cereals) with a few Spanish delicacies such as ensaimadas - just ridiculously delicious!!!
Hotel staff was very nice, and there is a free wifi in the lobby (you can get the password from the reception).
A small inconvenience was that my room only had on power outlet socket and it was situated behind a very heavy drawer - it took some muscle to move so I could re-charge my phone. This wasn´t the first time I´ve experienced this in a hotel but annoying nonetheless. Why do hotels skimp on them? I don´t get it.
Also after a week of walking the exact same (and only) route to the center everytime you wanted to go anywhere in Palma Nova did get a little tiresome, I must admit. Sometimes I did wish the hotel was a little bit closer to the center, but then again the noise level and the amount of drunk teenagers in the center (especially in Magaluf) was so unbelievable that the distance did seem worth it in the end!
A very enjoyable holiday all in all, and I can definitely see myself returning to this hotel.

We travelled as a family group staying from the 28th July to the 3rd August.... I cannot honestly find fault with this hotel.

Room: Our room was clean and comfortable, clean towels & bath goodies were provided. We booked a 'basic studio' which indeed was very basic but that was enough for us. The kitchenette comprised of a sink, fridge however no microwave and if you needed a kettle /toaster it had to be hired at reception.

Entertainment: I loved what this hotel had to offer, there was live music, flamenco dancing shows, mini disco's , face painting, shuffle board etc...outside at the back there was a pool with a kids section to it, and two snooker tables. Inside the lounge there was a TV for all the guests.

Services: We paid 15 euros for a week's rent of a safe, but it was very secure and an extra 3 euros deposit for the key. Rooms service was limited to Pizza's & soft drinks/beer.
We were also able to book day trips at the reception, staff were helpful and informative.

Unluckily we had to request the services of the hotel doctor as our son contracted a fever 2 days before our departure, it cost us 135 euros...a private doctor was called as far as I was aware ( we are trying to claim it back but actually no success, because we were informed an excess of £100 would need to be paid - before anything is paid out - so not worth our while really) In future we know to bring some Calpol!!!

Location: Very good, the beach was 5 mins walk away, and so were the cafes. restaurants & souvenir shops which were dotted around the town. Magaluf isn't too far away either...it cost about 6 euros from there to our hotel...if you don't feel like walking.

All in all, an excellent hotel. 10 out of 10.

We have recently returned from a two week stay at the Ponent Mar. This is the first time that we have chosen to return to the same hotel as the the year before. After our holiday in 2011, we figured that anywhere else might prove to be a disappointment in comparison. Glad we made that choice - we had a fabulous holiday once again. The staff were helpful and welcoming and the housekeeping was first class. A mojito cocktail at 6pm became a daily ritual. We're hoping to return in October.

Stayed here from the 23rd June to the 7th July with 2 friends, all aged 18. We wanted a hotel that was near enough to Magaluf so we could go out there when we wanted (if you're interested, taxi from hotel to Magaluf strip was around 6 euros) , but a hotel that was also far enough away from the noise and madness of the strip! This hotel was perfect for that, and I would recommend it to any groups of a similar age who are looking for a relaxing, but also a partying holiday. The staff are fantastic - when we were going out, they'd look after our room key so we wouldn't lose it in Magaluf, and as reception is 24hours we could return home at any time (one morning it was 6am!) The restaurants were great - although I'd say breakfast was overpriced, and so we only ate breakfast there once. The all you can eat buffet offers a wide range of choice, from chips and chicken for fussier people, to more exotic things such as paella. I wouldn't recommend eating at the a la carte - we ate the lasagne and it was incredibly stodgy and definitely not as good as the buffet! The lunch time restaurant was fab too and very reasonably priced! Pool area was great - as long as you don't mind children playing and having fun! Lots of activities throughout the day such as water gymnastics and polo! It was great fun. Sometimes hard to get a sunbed, but then again we did crawl out of bed at about 12pm! Our room was small, and I would say, as a self catering apartment, it was poorly equipped. If you're planning on eating in every night, you won't be able to here - we literally had two hob rings, no kettle, no toaster, or microwave. Fortunately, we had planned to eat out most nights, and found some great restaurants in Palma Nova (a short 5 minute walk down the hill), including a Pizzeria called Natalie's or something similar to that. The air con was fab, and for 15 euros you could hire a safe which was down by reception - we thought this would be a problem, but in fact it worked out fine! Bar area was also great, reasonably priced drinks, great bar staff and also fab entertainment! On the nights we stayed at the hotel, we didn't leave the bar until around midnight, it was a great atmosphere! Rooms were cleaned everyday if you didn't put the 'do not disturb' sign on the door, and towels were changed as and when needed (you just leave them on the floor). On the whole, I would definitely go back to this hotel for the kind of holiday we were after this year, it was great value and we had a brilliant time! Magaluf was also fantastic - in fact, we're already planning a last minute trip back to a hotel that is more on the strip so that we can sample the real partylife!

Room Tip: room 316 was great!

This lovely apart hotel is set high on the edge of Palma nova, although it looks a distance from the main beach it is actually only a 5 minute walk, however this is a steep trek uphill on the return.
The view from the hotel is perfect, with yachts anchored nearby, cruises ships going in and out of palma bay and aircraft taking off, you can spend hours just watching.
The apartments are spotlessly clean however, as others have said sea view and newly refurbished apartments are better. Staff are friendly and although we ate lunch at the pool restaurant we did not eat evening meals, some tables are placed outside and they looked lovely, but we did have breakfast on one occasion and felt the whole experience was regimented and lacked atmosphere, our choice was to eat out, local restaurants were good and breakfast early in one of the beach side restaurants before the crowds were around was perfect.

Room Tip: Higher floor as ants on lower floors could be a problem, we were happy with our non sea view, the ro...

Have just returned from another loverly stay in this hotel. Have been once or twice a year to the Ponent for the last few years, it's position on the cliffe edge and the views this offers is amazing although with most thing in life you get what you pay for!
Paid that bit more for a superior appartment, these have been resently refurbished and offer the best views, but a self catering room with only 2 rings & a pan!, come on give us a kettle & maybe a toaster.
Only other complaint is its not always possible to get a sun bed around the pool, they seem to turn a blind eye to non residents using the pool & beds, this needs to be addressed now!
These are my only glumbles, going back again in 6 weeks, yippee!!!!

We are four 30-something girls who were looking for a few nights rest and relaxation in a decent standard of accommodation, not too far from the airport, close to the beach and restaurants and bars, but without the rowdiness of Magaluf. Ponent Mar ticked all the boxes for us and we would all return without hesitation.

We had a great room - a one bedroomed refurbished apartment (room 201) with a big balcony and looking directly over the sea - heavenly setting for breakfast in the morning, and a glass of vino before going out at night! Our room had a separate bedroom and sofa beds in the lounge and comfortably slept 4 adults. There was a 2-ring hob, plenty of glasses, cutlery, etc (but no kettle - we just used a pan), a hairdryer in the bathroom, good airconditioning, modern shower room, plenty of drawer and hanging space. Think you could rent an iron if you need one.

The pool seemed big enough for the size of the hotel, and never overcrowded - it made a nice change to stay somewhere where you do not have to fight for a sunbed around the pool! There was a good mix of nationalities, consisting mainly of couples and families.

We were self catering and can't comment on the restaurant as we went out to eat every night, but the pool bar served very reasonably priced lunchtime snacks. We bought everything we needed for the room for breakfast, (and of course wine, beers etc!) from the on-site supermarket which was well stocked and we found compared favourably with the prices of the supermarkets in Palma Nova. The prices at the bar seemed about average for the area, (if you're a Mojito fan, I can definitely recommend the Ponent Mar Mojitos!)

There's a good variety of restaurants to choose from in Palma Nova - Spanish, English, Indian, Mexican, Thai, etc, etc (oh and of course the golden arches!) and a few bars dotted about. There are also plenty of the usual "holiday tat" shops, great for prezzies to take home.

A karaoke bar with nightly tribute acts turned into our favourite haunt for drinks after our evening meal. (can't remember it's name - but it was on the beachside of the road up some stairs, just before the shops).

All in all, Ponent Mar provided us with everything we were looking for and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends and family.

Room Tip: Ask for a newly refurbished room with a sea view!
