“Very good - might make it to 4 star one day”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2010

First of all…SOME PEOPLE NEED TO GET REAL…
This is a 3 star hotel…everyone got that? 3 star…not the Hilton or a Sandals resort a 3 start Hotel in Majorca.
We had a great time. We are two adults with two kids (girl 10 and boy 5). We stayed 21st - 31st July, on an ‘All Inclusive’ deal and for what we paid it was a great value holiday.

We were on the fourth floor in a double bed roomed room. It was great that the kids had their own room set within ours and the views from the room we had were stunning – better than some we have had in 5 star hotels. The only downside we had with the room was that we were directly under the bar; luckily our kids are night owls (and good sleepers). The bar closed at 11.25pm and by the time all the people had left etc you could bet that by midnight or half past midnight there was no noise of scraping chairs or tables.

We often stayed until all the entertainment and bar closed so for us this was not a problem for us. We did not hear anyone setting up the bar in the morning (as it didn’t open until the evening so I’m unsure what a previous review was referring too? In fact it I felt it was better as you could guarantee that after a certain time you would not be disturbed by people above you.

Mornings – yup unfortunately you did have to grab a sun bed but they were all stacked and locked up each evening so this meant you all congregating at 8.30am every morning for the ‘unlock’. We only needed 2 and a plastic chair each day and were quite lucky as we had no problems. We did notice though as we were leaving things were getting busier so some people may have had problems? There were plenty of tables and chairs around the pool in the pool bar area.

That brings me on to the bars themselves – you had one by the pool during the day and one in the evening on the fifth floor – again with stunning views and a wide choice of drinks. The drinks were not as strong as they are in the UK but were cold and wet and refreshing especially the shandy. I’m not sure what hotel some other reviewers stayed in but we didn’t have to wait more than 5 minutes at any time for a drink (obviously timing is everything when going to the bar). The all inclusive card system does only allow ADULTS to get drinks/ice cream/lollies etc for that number of people on the card, CHILDREN can only get one item at a time but when my daughter went with her younger brother they both could get something together. I do think that wristband could possibly be a better option for adults though.

A nice change from other all inclusive we have been to was that ice creams and lollies for the kids were available all day from the pool bar and not at certain times.

Restaurant wise, there was one main restaurant where you do have to find your own table – saying that apart from one breakfast time (where we had to sit miles away from the buffet) we had no problems.

I don’t like breakfast at the best of times– but the ones here were not bad. Obviously things had their European slant to them the bacon was fatty – sloppy scrambled egg (not as I like it) but there was the upside such as freshly cooked pancakes, fresh bread, croissants, cereals, cheeses, sausages, beans, fried eggs etc.

Lunch and dinner was also of a reasonable standard and despite what is said you had a reasonable choice. A wonderful salad bar (Sardines, cold meats etc) and on some nights there were themed evenings such as Italian and Mexican while we were there.

Obviously they are a business and have to get a little creative with the menu so for example if boiled potatoes were on one night (as an alternative) you could bet there would be potato salad as a choice on the salad bar the next day.

You helped yourself to drinks at breakfast (via machines) but there was a drinks waiter service for lunch and dinner. We were surprised to find on the ‘AI’ package that if you requested wine/cava you got a full bottle brought to your table – I lost count of how many bottles of Cava we got through!

Yes Jamie Oliver and Delia Smith do not work in the kitchen of this hotel but during our stay we found the food of a reasonable standard and variety. Staff were nice and plates cleared away efficiently. Surprisingly when food had not run out often it was changed to keep it fresh. Better than some 5* hotels I have stayed in! Mind you sometimes there is no pleasing some members of the ‘beige brigade’ no matter what choice is offered!

Entertainment on the whole was good. The staff were exceptionally hard working especially the girls in the kids club and Asya the Bulgarian adult entertainer. Night time included kid’s mini disco with panda! Bingo - no money prizes but a bottle of Sangria and as most European resorts they did tend to make a big deal of it all.

There were some great acts brought in especially to entertain the kids (and the big kids) one was a comedy/puppet show that was great. There was also a Beatles tribute act and an acrobatic duo and lots more.

During the day there were a few games in and around the pool as well as a bit of archery and shooting! Again a kids club was run during the day by the same people who do the night one (I don’t know where they get their energy from) and was a combination of crafts, skill and pool games. My 5 year old loved it.

The hotel is near enough to everything without being in the thick of it and proved to be in an excellent location. Some of the attractions – House of Kathmandu, Explorer and Fantasia golf only a short walk away.

All in all we were very impressed with this hotel and its staff considering it was only a three star. It had a very friendly family atmosphere with many of the guests having brought children. We would have no hesitation in recommending it to family and friends.

The location was excellent. The hotel is right by the beach where there are lots of watersports going on and everything you need is within walking distance.

We had great views from our room, overlooking the pool and the sea, but as we were on the 4th floor, below the evening bar area, the noise was terrible, screeching of chairs moving along the floor until 1.00 in the morning. And then to be woken at 8am when the chairs were being set up again for the next day. We had very little, disturbed sleep.

The queues for the bar, day and night were horrendous, having to wait 20 to 30 minutes to get a drink. We were only allowed to get 1 drink per person at a time and if you had a drink you couldn't get a lolly aswell, you would have to queue up again for that.

The evening entertainment was pretty lame, wasn't really worth sitting there and watching.

As for the food, the most vile, cold, sloppy food I have ever tasted. My daughter actually renched at the table after eating what we think was supposed to be a fish nugget. We ended up eating most of our meals at a local restaurant/cafe, adding a £200 bill to the holiday which I wasn't happy about. The food was so repetitive, almost the same food every night, no variety and often stone cold. Many people we met at the hotel said the same thing, and we often saw them eating out also. Tip for the hotel - SACK YOUR CHEF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went on 8.7 for 2 weeks all inc.

Location - Is the best ! you can walk from the pool and jump in to the Med withing 30 secs. The view is also spectacular - we had room on 4th floor and took in a sea view and the 2 beaches at palma nova.

Room - we had 2 bedroom room with plenty of space which was cleaned/change towels daily

Food - I'm not a breakfast person but my wife said it was ok. Lunches were fine - drinks are table service. Dinner at night was grab a table and in certain areas of the dining hall it's a bit of a war zone with clattering dishes and wailing infants. However the food was fine and they had 3 theme nights when we were there - chinese, italian and majorcan. I would reccomend a couple of nights in restaurants if you can afford it or the food will eventually bore you.

drinks - you had to carry a family card any time you went to the bar and the queues were sometimes busy but the barstaff in general were tremendous (Look out for big Jose) Local brands spirits and cruzcampo lager(you can buy magners big bottle for e2.70

Weather - 39-40 deg and not a cloud for 2 weeks

Hotel entertainment - The staff were exceptionally hard working especially the 2 girls in kids club and Asya the Bulgarian adult entertainer. Night time included kis mini disco with panda! Bingo (near the end of the holiday they made it no cash for some reason) then some tribute acts (abba, elvis, beatles) magician, brasil show and some nights not a lot. We went down to Mrs Doyles Irish bar in magaluf a few times which was a great night. Also you can have a night in Santa Ponsa (e10 each way in a taxi) The Magaluf strip is mental woth all the youngsters but hey I did the same 20 years ago!

Summary - A lot of people return to this hotel every year so that says it all really. We met some lovely people and because of facebook we now keep in touch where in the past that probably wouldnt happen.

I stayed at the hawaii with 9 other girls the hotel is great it is for families mainly but there were quite a few groups when we were there. when we arrived we were checked in straight away, we had 4 rooms all with excellent views reception staff we very friendly, and extremely helpful with booking excursions etc. we stayed on a half board basis there is a variety to suit everyone. We were a group of girls all 18 so we found the location of the hotel excellent even though magaluf is only down the street it is far enough away to get a goodnights sleep, the hotel is situated right on the beach and the hill is nothing what people make out it is a simple ramp. All the staff at the hotel were very friendly always willing to have a chat and a laugh. Although the entertainment is mainly for the kids i thought it was brilliant, they have a childrens club throughout the day and a short one in the night they also but on activities for the adults; archery, riffle shooting, darts etc. The entertainment staff are lovely as are the bar staff. Before we went to this hotel we were all a bit skeptical after reading the reviews but honestly i would reccommend this hotel to anyone there were older adults there alone, there is something for everyone, infact i liked it so much that i am booking again for october, because of this hotel i AbOLUTLEY loved it.

Just back from weeks holiday with all the family, grandparents and 20 month old baby.
Fun for all the family, the rooms are a good size, clean and well looked after. Hotel staff all friendly and very helpfull, we were all inclusive which i would highly reccommend ..... you'll get more than your money's worth. You'll sometimes have to cue for a minute or two for your drinks, but what do you expect in high season. The only down side was the lack of sun beds by the pools, if you want one you'll have to get down before 8am to place a towel down. For transfers from the airport we used transfers4u.com only £80 for 6 adults and baby return. Can't wait to book again for later in the year........enjoy!!!!!!!

As an 18 year old travelling with 9 other girls this hotel was absolutely perfect . From each room there was a lovely sea view as the hotel is situated on the beach which was beautiful. All the staff were extremely friendly and really fun to be around. Personally for me this hotel was great because of a day it was nice and peaceful with lots to do e.g waterpolo, archery, table tennis etc and of a night the bar had lots of different forms of entertainment like the nightly game of bingo and tribute acts ranging from Abba to Elvis. This hotel is also ideal for families as there is lots of activities and a nightly childrens disco which . As the hotel bar shut around midnight if it is a wilder holiday you are looking for there is a strip of clubs in Magaluf which are only about 5 minutes away. Before booking this holiday we looked at peoples reviews and the hill that most people seemed to complain about is nowhere near as bad as we had imagined!!

My wife and i enjoyed stay at hotel - on our first night lads staying in room opposite us on first floor made an enormous amount of noise banging on doors and shouting extremely loud at about 4.00 am - security eventually came up and threatened to call police - no noise afterwards from these lads and subsequent parties of lads. Food good although i question why lovely pieces of fish(such as turbot , hake etc) being served in restaurant is spoiled by adding garlic - not everyone likes garlic - more chance of people eating fish if it cooked unspoilt.
Service was good - restaurant staff worked extremely hard and bar staff too.
Location of hotel excellent - view across palma nova bay exceptional from bar.
Entertainment geared towards kids so we went to a bar just down the road called Ruby Tuesdays to watch football and entertainment there - very friendly staff and good fun - views from balcony here are also excellent.
All in all a good break.
