“A Fantastic Holiday in the Hotel Palma Nova”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2010

We travelled to the Palma Nova Hotel for a 10 day holiday from 22nd May 2010. We have been to Palma Nova before, but not stayed at this hotel, however my parents stayed there last year. They had a great time and raved about the hotel, but since then there have been quite a few bad reviews, so we were a little worried about what to expect.

We had no reason to worry, we couldn't complain about anything!

There were 3 of us staying in a one room apartment - 2 beds and a pull out sofa bed, all were comfortable. The rooms were cleaned every day with new towels each day too. Our room was on the 7th floor, with a pool and sea view, which was wonderful. There were two lifts which served all floors, and sometimes could take a while to come, but who cares, you're on holiday and not in a rush to get anywhere!!

The all inclusive food was delicious. Breakfast, lunch and dinner always had a good selection, and wasn't limited to chips chips chips!! There was always food available all through the day, and after dinner finished (9pm) you could get sandwiches from behind the bar, aswell as pieces of pizza on the bar too. The bar staff could maybe have smiled a little more :-) but they were efficient, and there weren't big queues for drinks even in the evening time.

The entertainment was good - some nights were better than others, and there was always bingo at 10pm after the show. The entertainment staff were really good, and the rep - Stuart, was regularly available.

All in all we had a brilliant holiday, and I sometimes wonder what exactly people are expecting from their holiday!!??

We arrived at 11.20am but our room wasn't ready until after 1.30pm, we didn't mind this because we could get a snack from the restaurant and a drink at the pool bar.

Our room was small and dated, tiny bathroom that you could hear the people in the next room clearly through the vent. Room cleaned every day and towels too. Sheets were changed on day 9 of our 11 day holiday.

At breakfast we had to clear our own table every morning because the waiters didn't rush themselves. Plates and cups piled high on every table.

Lunch and Dinner - the food was just warm when they opened the doors, we waited at least 30 minutes for the hotter replacement food trays to come out. Not much choice and no kids menu but my daughter had her meals at snacktimes because that's when they served burgers and hot dogs etc.

The Pool was great, we didn't get a sunlounger all holiday because they all had towels on them by 6.45am. The lifeguard was great with the kids and if they stood near the pool he would just throw them in, even fully dressed with shoes etc.

The evening entertainment was the biggest disappointment. The room had stained walls, stained chairs and tables with chunks out of them. The "professional acts" were dreadfull, most people just played cards or talked over the singing, it was embarrassing. The bingo has a good cash payout but they didn't start selling tickets until 10pm after the acts had finished.

We wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone and will not be going there again.

I dont know what hotel the people that have written bad reviews were staying at but it certainly cant be the same one that I just got back from.

Me and my husband went on this holiday expecting the standards of a 3* hotel in spain - not a 4 or 5* in the carribean, and because of this we werent disappointed.

You could literally eat all day and the food was fine for us, we ate out 2 nights out of the week but not because the food was bad just because thats what we always do. There was drinks of all kinds all day and the queue's werent to severe even at night - when the hotel was always busy.

Our room was cleaned every day and the room was just what you would expect of a 3* nothing too flash but clean and plenty of room with a nice balcony.

In all we had a very good week here and would definatly return in the future.

I've just got back from 1 week stay at this hotel on an all inclusive basis. I think this hotel is in perfect location, has plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance, but for those who want night life, magaluf is about 30 mins walk at the most!

Beaches are gorgeous!!!Pool was very cold!Food was being served constantly from about 8 in the morning through to 12 midnight (this is when the all inclusive ends, my advice-stock pile your drinks hehe!)

Entertainment in the hotel is good, but for a young couple, we found ourselves going elsewhere a couple of times. Kids entertainment is fab! Game of bingo every night which can get monotonous, but with big money prizes couldnt be resisted on our last night!

Would definately recommend this hotel to a friend, we spoke to someone who was staying in the 4 star hotel next door and he told us he came to our hotel for the food as it was better than his hotel! No fighting for sunbeds, they have suncare advisors who are there throughout the day to advise on sun protection. I had read a few things before I went about people having things stolen, however we did not come across this (tho I did take my own little safe just in case!)

All-round great holiday would definately go back! only problem was, they dont have double beds...me and my other half were disappointed that to get a good nights sleep we had to tie the legs of the bed together so no one fell down the gap!!!

Just back from spending 2 weeks at this hotel for the first time. Excellent hotel , clean, comfortable, friendly staff, exellent entertainment team Emileah and Rhui, food could have been better, but all in all an all good round hotel lovely grounds and pool area, very close to beach and for shopping, would recommend to a friend but only those with no children as I felt that the hotel could have catered better towards children with the menu , choice for kids was very limited.

Just back from a week at the Palmanova Hotel. I travelled with my Spouse, my 2 sons aged 20 and 21, there 3 friends, my mother and mother - in - law, so ages ranged from 19 - 63 and everyone found something to do to keep them happy.
LOCATION:The Hotel is around 200 metres from the Beach and is based behind Golf Fantasia. The easiest and quickest way is to leave the Hotel via the gate at the end of the Pool and turn left. Then follow the fence around Golf Fantasia and this takes you onto the Beach Front where the shops and Restaurants are plentiful. Note: The gate closes between 11-30pm and Midnight.
BOARD BASIS: We were all inclusive and wrist bands are issued for this purpose. Snacks are available between meals which consists of chips, burgers, bread, cheese, onions, salad etc. A toastie machine is also available. These are served in the Main Dining Room. Please note that after Dinner, snacks are not available in the Dining Room. Sandwiches consisting of cheese spread and cold meat are available from the Bar and are kept in the fridge wrapped in cling-film. These are supposed to be available until midnight but none were available after 10pm one night, so when they are gone, they are gone!
ROOMS: Our room had a pool and sea view and was on the 5th floor. Rooms are basic but spotlessly clean and maids were helpful when we asked for extra pillows. Mattresses are very firm. Please note that if you book a 3 bedded room, the 3rd bed is a foldaway chair and the mattress is only about 3inches thick. My son had backache all week. Doors bang very loudly from morning until night and walls are paper thin. The noise is made louder due to the absence of carpet as all areas are tiled. Sleep is disturbed most nights so take a set of ear-plugs.
LIFTS: The lifts are tiny and take forever so opting for a low floor may be better.
FOOD & DINING: The food was good and there was always something we could eat, however it was on the cold side, but there is a microwave in the Dining Room which we used to heat our meals. You will find the beef is very tough and was always raw in the inside but okay if you like that kind of thing. The soup was always lovely. A different fish dish was available every night alongside chicken, pasta etc. Wine and water are available in the Dining Room but if you want juice, beer etc, you need to go to the Bar and collect it there before going into the Restaurant. Breakfast is served 8 - 10am, Lunch is 1 - 3pm and Dinner is 7 - 9pm. We found that if you didn't go into the Dining Room at the beginning of the times i have staed, it was difficult to find a table as very busy.
EVENINGS: The evening starts with a Disco for the kids, then its bingo time and then maybe someone singing or tributes such as Abba. The Bingo is 2 euros for one ticket so a strip costs 12 euros, sounds expensive but the house prize was over 300 euros - well worth a try - The team work hard to please everyone.
STAFF: Most of the staff are friendly with the exception of the woman who clears you plastic cups form your table in the Entertainment Room in the evening. I never saw her smile or talk to people once. The Rep - Michelle - was helpful when we asked her advice and very approachable.
CONCLUSION: We stayed from 4th - 11th May and overall we enjoyed our stay but i would not consider staying in this hotel in the peak season as the Hotel was not full when we stayed and yet we found it difficult to find a seat in the Entertainment room at night around 7-45pm.

My husband, two and a half year old daughter and myself have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel and i would not recommend it to anyone with small children. The hotel itself is clan and tidy, the rooms are cleaned every day but im afraid the food and entertainment really let it down. The food was either undercooked or overcooked. There is very little choice for kids-especially the younger kids. There was vitually no entertainment especially for kids unless you count the one song and game that they class as a kids disco, followed by bingo and silly party games for bottles of champagne. The kids have a seperate pool but it was infected around the edges with ants. The paly ground for the children is a climbing frame with a chute!!!!
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!!!!!
