“2 Weeks of Bliss”
Reviewed September 14, 2010

My wife and I recently returned from having spent a 2 week all inclusive holiday at the Palma Nova Palace (15 to 29 Aug, Room 637). This was the second time that we have stayed at this hotel, the first being only last year. As we enjoyed the first visit so much we decided to return this year.
Having read some of the comments from other reviewers I often wonder if they are writing about the same hotel! Admittedly If you want to find fault you can, regardless of how many stars it has and whilst I cannot disagree that the pool area may get a little congested during busy periods, the beach is only a couple of minutes away.
The food has been excellent on both of our visits, providing a wide choice which should satisfy most pallets. There was even a carvery 3 times a week with roast beef, pork and turkey being cut from the bone by one of the chefs (great guy). The restaurant itself is run in a quiet, efficient manner and the waitresses have always been both polite and helpful.
Rooms are cleaned and beds are made up daily. Although you can hear some noise from adjoining apartments this tends to be the result of noisy people rather than the construction of the walls.
In my opinion what really makes this hotel stand out is the friendliness and efficiency of the people who work there, receptionists, cleaners, bar and restaurant staff alike. Isabel, Sandy, Sulman, Diana and Rosario deserve special mention.
Holidays are what you make them and people respond to how you treat them. The Palma Nova Palace is a wonderful hotel with excellent staff and I have no reservations in recommending it to anyone.
If you do fancy a day away from the hotel the Great Island Trip to Soller and La Colabra is highly recommended as is the boat trip to Palma. However don’t pay 50-60 Euros to go and see the “Pirates” show in Magaluf. The staff are rude and unfriendly and personally I don’t believe the show is worth the money.

Nice hotel. Clean and rooms very good with plenty of room to put everything away. Staff are very friendly and work hard. The food is basic and not much choice. All too often trays are allowed to empty and take some time to get replenished, if at all. Spare ribs one night got replaced with something very different so we did not get any.Spring rolls on another night so I thought Aaaagh chinese! WRONG ! Potatoe slices topped with cheese looked nice too. BUT they never got replenished. In our week cod in tomatoe appeared three times for evening meal. The cracker basket was left with just a few crumbs and broken crackers in the bottom. AND to top it all, you nearly always have to queue to get seated. A group walked into the restaurant one night, took a quick look at the selection and walked straight back out. The pool area is a joke. There are only approx 70 sunbeds and people enter into the realm of queing for them every morning at 8.45am when the attendant un chains them. Despite the signs and threats of removing towels, this was never done. Even towels were allowed to be placed on the table & chair seats to the side of the pool. The sun hits the terrace at around 10am but with the exception of a far reaching corner, is gone by early afternoon. As a result we did not spend one day at the hotel enjoying the pool because you just couldn't. The knock on effect was that we had to pay 11 euros a day for beach loungers and bought lunch out although we were all inclusive it was too far to go back to the hotel for lunch. Bar service was very efficient and the beer is san miguel BUT PLEASE why don't you use larger beer glasses? As for entertainment there wasn't any unless you are one that enjoys entertaining yourselves with kareoke or audience participation etc. The two girls worked very hard in fairness within their scope but a 4 star hotel should provide better.

We are a young couple 24/20 and have just got back from our stay at the Palma nova Palace Hotel.

The hotel itself is situated close to the beach, about a 3/4 min walk to the front, past a large mini golf course which was fun and not too busy.

First impressions were pleasant with a large clean entrance lobby and very welcoming helpful staff.

We stayed on the second floor, overlooking the slightly disappointing pool. Our room was basic, but clean (although we had a blood stain on our wall?) with two single beds joined together to make a double. The air conditioning was a nice touch but was rather noisy on the highest setting.

After an inspection of the room we noticed that our balcony door had a broken lock which was quickly corrected by the hotel staff. Later on in the holiday we encountered a leak through the ceiling near the door, the hotel staff again fixed this by filing in the holes with wall filler but this only pushed the water through a light fitting which was very dangerous.

The maids were friendly and came everyday around 11am-1pm to change our bed sheets and towels.

The hotel pool is fairly small with disabled access at the deep end of the pool. There was a mad rush in the mornings to get a good sun bed space as the sun is very sparse and patchy from the overlooking wall and palm trees.

The people staying at the hotel have an average age of around 50/60 so don't expect any modern music or the drink's that you would get at a younger hotel. We didn't stay around the hotel for any of the entertainment but the older guest's seemed to be enjoying themselves anyway.

We were on half board so we had breakfast everyday but only had dinner at the hotel once as we enjoy trying new foods & restaurants around the area at night. The breakfasts were ok, your basic English breakfast with plenty of breads, yoghurts and cereals if you don't fancy a fry up.

If you want to try around Palma nova for food then we would suggest Viceroys, a nice Italian with great food (but expensive spirits) or Cafe Canto which is a modern looking restaurant with nice food and friendly staff.

If you want something special however, head off to Palma (15/20 mins away) and find a local tapas bar, we had our best meal there with cheap drinks and loads of varied authentic Spanish tapas. We went to one next to the theatre.

All in all we had a great holiday with loads to do and the hotel was pleasant, and substantial but certainly not a 4 star.

I stayed at the Palma Nova Palace for a week in August 2010. I stayed at the hotel on an all inclusive basis. I found the hotel to be very clean and the maid service to be excellent, the beds were changed every day. All the waiting and reception staff were polite and helpful at all times.
The food at the hotel was to a really high standard and there was a variety of choice everyday. Food was also served almost 24 hours a day, with snacks being served between meal times for all inclusive guests. The hotel was really good value for money as all drinks and food was included in the price.and this included alcohol until midnight every night.

Where the hotel is situated it enables you to be able to sleep peacefully without being disturbed and the view from the room faces the pool and has a decent size balcony that enables you to have shade in the afternoon and lovely sunlight in the morning.

My only gripe is that the entertainment provided by the hotel was more suited to older guests and could be improved to cater for all adults.
Overall I would rate this hotel a nine out of ten and would recommend it if your looking for a quiet hotel that is close to all amenities.

Lovely mixture of people staying in the hotel. We were greeted on the landing by people informing us of rooms being broken into and cash stolen from approx 5 rooms even from the safe! It made us extra wary. We stayed half board which suited us, we didn't feel we wanted to stay for the evening entertainment as it seemed to start every night with bingo. There aren't enough sunbeds for the amount of people staying in the hotel, so we went to the beach most days which was beautiful and only 5 mins walk. The rooms are dated but I would say ok. Clean towels daily even if they weren't left in the bath. There didn't seem to be much entertainment in the evenings around Palma Nova, so we tended to go into Magaluf which was great!

we stayed from 10 july for 7 days.
one of us in a wheelchair and the help , friendliness and groundfloor room were firstclass.
On half board , the food was pretty good (first class breakfasts) staff quite friendly.
On the first day both rooms had faulty airconditioning, 1 tv would not work , 1 shower was not connected.
Overall the hotel was a little "tired" in places and was definitely not worth 4 stars , 3 stars + at a push , would aty there again though
