Sol Guadalupe by Melia
Ranked #5 of 30 Hotels in Magaluf
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed July 11, 2013

We travelled at the end of June as a group of six 17/18 year olds on our first girls holiday.
First impressions the hotel looked lovely and of the best standard in Magalluf, the reception area was very modern and clean. We arrived at around 11am and it took around 10/15 minutes to check in due to quite a slow moving queue. On arrival we were told that our rooms weren't ready yet and to come back at 2pm, this was fine as we didn't pay for early check in, however our suitcases were stored in a room which wasn't locked or secured which was a bit of a worry. When we picked our suitcases back up everything was fine. Staff on reception didn't speak the best English which probably explains why check in took a little long, however they did their best to help us when we asked about directions and other enquiries.
We had requested a sea view on quite a low floor however ended up facing the sol y Vera and fiesta Sahara hotels, however this wasn't an issue as we could hear the fiesta Saharas music which they played everyday, which was good to hear when we were getting ready! If we didn't want to hear the music we just shut the balcony door which basically blocked out all the noise from outside.
We had 3 people each in 2 rooms, the rooms were very clean and well stocked with a fridge, hairdryer, air con (which you could use anytime) and a free LCD TV. There was also a safe which at 20 euros for the week (you get 5 euros back) is worth the money! My only criticism is that when there are 3 girls running around trying to get ready to go out, the rooms could've been a bit bigger. The maid service was great! Changed our sheets once or twice in the week however made our beds, sweeped up and provided fresh towels every day!
We went half board and couldn't fault the breakfast which we made 3 or 4 times during the week! A continental as well as a cooked breakfast option. The dinner was of quite a good standard, plenty of choice however was similar most nights, the hotel would benefit from putting on a few themed nights such as Chinese/Mexican ect. Also, although drinks were provided free at breakfast, you had to pay for them at dinner, we never bought a drink at dinner and managed without. Although we never had lunch at the hotel the snack bar at the pool was reasonably priced. I would recommend Dreams bar directly opposite the hotel for lunch, we went loads! Cheap food, plenty of choice and friendly.
The pools were amazing and absolutely huge! Easy to get sunbeds and they didn't mind us bringing our own drinks to the pool either.
The location of the hotel was great! A few local shops opposite for water, crisps ect and about 3/4 cheap bars directly opposite the hotel which were great for pre drinks before the strip. The strip and BCM square was around a 5/10 minute walk, ideal, not too far away to feel out of everything, but not too close to be noisy all the time. The beautiful beach and restaurants (id recommend Tom Browns) were literally around the corner and over the road from the hotel, a 2 minute walk.

All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay at the sol Guadalupe, it was the perfect hotel for our first girls holiday. Although the hotel advertises itself as a family one, we didn't feel out of place at all as there were various groups of young girls and boys there as well as families and couples. Would definately go back!

Just back from our second visit to the Sol Guadalupe, nothing has changed, it is still a superb place to stay, excellent food and wonderful staff.
We requested, and were given, a room with a double bed.
So glad we went back

Room Tip: 215 has a double bed, with sea view and is quiet

I stayed here from the 29th June to the 4th July and it was just a little break away for me and my mum. As we know Magaluf is known for the 'party island' we expected it to be noisy but all the young people staying there especially the groups of lads are just so noisy and we barely slept a wink even after moving rooms 3 times! But that's not the hotels fault as all was good in the hotel. Another problem was there was loads of Russian people there who would be very rude and just stare at you even if they knew you was looking at them, they would also often push in front of the que when queuing for the lift and queuing in the dining hall for some food. Apart from that, lovely hotel stayed here a few times.

Yet again we stayed at this magnificent hotel now upgraded to 4 star .
the hotel staff are excellant and form the director senor crozier to all his staff in all departments you receive friendly service and a smile every day, most of them have been there for years.
The food is brilliant the rooms are clean and bright and the pool area is like being in the carribean, and it has its own kiddies pool and slides at the side.
A special mention to 2 of the receptionists both named tony , but especially to tony rivero who has always sorted us out.
Magaluff has had had bad previews on television but it is a lovely resort and has a lovely promenade which goes around to palma nova ,again a lovely resort.
If you want the hectic nightlife then the strip is situated between magaluff and palma nova and doesnt liven up until after 12 midnight and is well away from the main hotels in both resorts.
The hotel caters for any age group and I would say to you if you havent been there you must go, and you will be back again

Room Tip: There are 2 sides to the hotel, pick the side with a pool view and from about 4th floor up

Excellent !!! Hotel very clean throughout. The food was excellent, good selection to chose from and very fresh. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was on the first floor overlooking the pool and was very quiet at night ( no need for ear plugs !! ). Great to have a fridge in the room too.The entertainment staff were brilliant, always doing something to make your stay pleasurable... The evening entertainment was great from the tribute to Il Divo to the ' chill out ' evening which was lovely, just sitting and relaxing by the pool, listening to calming live music and having a cocktail. Cant wait to book for next year :).

we went as a couple last year mid june and had an excellent holiday..no complants ..room on 6th floor lovely with a big fan and free fridge..clean tidy hotel with good food and lifts efficient...pool,bar etc good and we found the shower good aswell......went again this year june 27th 2013 and was put on the 2nd floor!!!!! oh dear,,DONT stay on the lower floors as the noise in the hotel all night long with rowdy groups coming in singing shouting banging on the doors is unbearable.....the securiy was continually called by pressing 9 on the phone and we ended up being moved like quite a few others to a higher floor!..the hotel staff admitted it is a big problem and are finding it difficult to eradicate!.....even so apart from having little sleep we still had a nice holiday and sympathise with the hotel but we shall not be returning there!

Room Tip: stay on the higher floors to get some sleep!

Have just come back from yet another great holiday at this hotel. This was our 7th consecutive year and we can't wait to book again for next year. Everything from check in to check out was brilliant. Staff can not do enough to help. They are very friendly and remember you from previous years. Would definitely recommend trying for a room on the higher floors. The view from our room was fantastic. Watched a couple of liners leaving Palma.

Room Tip: High rooms in the small side are quieter
