“Cheap and cheerful!!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2011

I searched for ages for a good deal on a hotel and came across this one, looked at pictures the lot didnt find it eye catching but it was the cheapest so i went for it! The advantages are the location its fantastic just at the top of the strip minutes from bcm, we never had any complaints and got on with everyone else in the hotel! disadvantages are that at a certian time the water went cold and i mean cold, the hotel doesnt have a pool but you are able to use hotel teixs pool just around the corner, on the last day before we went home we went to go out to get few things and we left and the woman who owns the hotel locked us out, money, mobiles, passports, cases the lot was locked it, luckly we had a small friend with us who was able to fit his arm in to reach the floor brush to open the door, the owner is a grumpy old woman but we rarely seen her. Overall was ok for what we paid for excellent location and wouldnt doubt going back as we has so much banter!!

I know that these appartments are for people on a budget and they are in an amazing location for people wanting somewhere safe, fairly quiet at night and near the beaches and nightlife but our stay was not great. The Lardlord speaks no english and is grumpy and uncoperative, the appartments are not very clean and much of the furniture was slightly broken. the lights fused constantly and there was a lack of crockery, cutlery and pots and pans.
It is fine for a week but I really think you could do better for the money.

Aug 31st-September 1st 2009. The worst hotel experience I have ever encountered...

As a group of five 20yr olds we returned to Majorca for a clubbing holiday. We found this hotel on its own website, a modern, contemporary looking website. First appearances are a block of rundown flats, no swimming pool, no reception and a couple of metres opposite the busiest clubbing road in Magaluf . The manager and his wife who live at the bottom of the block of flats took our cash as we paid on arrival. We moved into our rooms and went to the beach, returned in the evening to find that another group of holiday makers had moved into our room!!! I

n shock we complained to the manager [who speaks no english] and he didnt understand and threatened to throw us out onto the streets at 11pm!! He bashed on the boys room door and aggressively made us return the girls room key and all five of us had to kip together in the boys one room. We couldnt all leave the flat in case he had given the boys room key out as well and someone might walk in and steal our stuff. Terrified that he might return we attempted to sleep as drunken people screamed down megaphones during the early hours and the nightclub beats vibrated through my ears.

The next morning a Spanish speaking friend explained to the manager on the phone what had happend. After accusing us of trying to smuggle in extra people :S he reluctantly apologised returned the majority of our cash. [Turned out he had given people a room 9 key which was our room instead of room 6]. That old trick! We promptly moved to another hotel which the boys had searched out the night before admidst the panic.

The manager had also double booked the hotel and many people arriving were left roomless.

The room: No aircon...sooooo hot, no glass in window...soooo noisy I cant begin to express how loud it was all night, single paned windows of those that did exist, jail bars us at shower window, kitchen and bathroom really dirty, couldnt unlock main door as it was duff so manager had to do it for us, bathroom handle was broken in both rooms so we got stuck in there several times.

Men who sell gadgets on the streets outside nightclubs would walk up the dark stairs to the flats in the night and try to sell you silly hats etc.

I really do not recommend this hotel for your own saftey. Book through a well-known travel agent and always get a safe in your room.

mid week of the holiday my mates and i were out for the night clubbing! we cam back to find our room door had been tampered with therefore we could'nt put our key in the key hole. We went down to the reception and tlod the lady owner what was wrong, she gaves us a spare key and told us to try it again. The key did not work so we went back down to tell her but she wouldnt answer her door. Therefore to get into our room we had to kick the door open. in the morning we told the owner what had happened but she choose not to belive us, she gave us a 90 euro bill and told us a joiner would come and fix the door the same day but the joiner did not turn up till half hour before we checked out which was 2 and a half days later, so we had to stay in our room for that period incase our stuff got stolen.
I would never go back to this appartment the stupid cow. learn english

I wanted to book a cheap hotel, for a girlie week away! I was expecting a dump to be fair... with what we paid! (next to nothing) but no... it is actually quite nice! I think its a 1 or 2 star hotel, but i would have put it at a 3! it was clean, and very spacious! it was in the perfect location! 1 minute away (if that) from magaluf strip! close to the beach, FANTASTIC! no pool... but you can use other pools around which is good!

I would deffo stay here again! been to magaluf 4 times, and think this is the best location i have ever stayed in!

I stayed here with 3 friends in Jun 06 and it was fantastic. I must admit when my friend booked it with teletext and looked at where we were staying i thought oh my god what a dump (im a travel agent you see!) and when the taxi pulled up outside its located ontop of a shop, infront of a bar and next to a strip club!!!! we went in and the owners do not speak much english at all but you can kind of communicate by hand movements!!!! they gave us the key and we went to the apartment and it was huge!!! its basic but its clean, we werent planning to cook at all but the fridge did the job for our drinks! the beds are comfy, layout is lounge 2 singles and bedroom 2 singles, smallish bathroom. balcony was quite big and because of the layout of the apartments the all face the streets of magalluf. its great to see when to go out because when it gets busy.....then its time!!!!! 5 mins from BCM about 6 clubs located within 1 minute and pubs and bars within 1 minute, perfect for that outrageous clubbing holiday!!!! beach is 3 mins down the road and the blue bar next to the beach is amazing. the owner was friends with george best and theres pictures of them all over!!! shopping nearby, indian restaurant opposite apartments. you seriously do not need to go far at all!!! there is no pool here or bar but you are allowed to use another hotel for thos facilities.

i had a fantastic week and recommend this place for everyone who wants a budget break to SHAGALLUF!!!!!!!!!

hope everyone who goes has a fantastic time!!!!!!!!

The Kensington Apartments were brilliant! So much better than I expected. The room description didn't do the rooms justice at all. We had 4 properbeds in the apartments despite the description saying you get two sofa beds and two beds. This was the same in all the apartments (we had 3 between us).

Each apartment had one bedroom with two beds in, and then two beds in the living room, It was VERY spacious with the kitchennette in a sort of sperate room and a large bathroom with a great shower which has a small bath at the bottom. There was plenty of kitchen equipment including a toaster a great fridge and a bottle opener to our delight! We also had a really big balcony with almost a seaview, although it is right opposite the Poco Loco nightclub which makes it quite noisy but most people who go here will expect that and will be up until 6am anyway! Plus the seperate bedroom hardly hears any noise and we all moved into that room with our mattresses.

The location is PERFECT with Magaluf Beach a minute walk away on the right and the other beach within meters on the left. The apartemnts are right in the middle of everything so you've got a shop with all the essentials below, a take-away opposite for chips on the way home and all the nightclubs and bars just round the corner. There's also the more attractive and quiet Palma Nova just a few minutes walk away. I'd definately recommend the Kensington Apartments for young people who want to have fun and don't mind a bit of noise at night. Excellent value for money!

  • Liked — Location, Spaciousness, Facilities
  • Disliked — Staff/owner of apartments couldn't speak English whichc made some things difficult
  • Tips/Secrets — You will have tp pay a 20 euro deposit on arrival so bare this in mind and you possibly won't get it back if you annoy the owner
