This has to be the best restaurant we've been to for atmosphere. The kids and I loved jumping in the fresh lake water (shape in a pool) but be warned, the water is very cold. It's not actually in Lluc but just above, so if coming from the East you need to head past Lluc and it's sign posted before you get to the next major junction (on the right).

The food was good, I wouldn't say we came away from a £100+ bill thinking we'd had a Michelin meal, but I have to say the fish was well cooked, the wine they recommended was fabulous and the service very friendly and attentive. They even gave us fresh Fanta bottles so our old ones could be used to lure a couple of Wasps away from the table.

It's the place we'll be telling friends they definitely have to try out, so long as they don't mind the shock of jumping in the cold water.

Definitely a place not to be missed. As a top tip, phone ahead as it's popular and soon gets booked up.

We first ate here three years ago and loved it so in our most recent stay over in Puerto de Soller we made a pilgrimage back to Es Guix for lunch. The location is just perfect with an artificial pool being cleverly created in the valley below which the food terrace then overlooks through the trees and greenery.

Food-wise it is excellent, although if you are a vegetarian it is strongly meat-based. I had the Kid Goat and it was one of those meals where you are disappointed when you've finished and want to be hungry again so you can start all over again. Absolutely fantastic.

Price-wise it's not cheap but it is reasonable - a meal for four including drinks coming in at about 90 Euro seems pretty good, especially given the quality of food and the location.

Strongly recommend you stop here if heading to the Lluc monastery, but it is worth a trip all by itself just as a place to eat.

A friend who lived in Mallorca recommended this lovely restaurant which we visited on a beautiful sunny day. The setting is wonderful, the terrace overlooks the natural rock pool and is delightfully quiet and beautiful. The food was good and service friendly and welcoming. Worth a visit to the Lluc monastery too, just along the road. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch catching the last sunshine before the flight home, lovley way to finsih the holiday.

On the way to the Monastery of Lluc (worth a visit) we had lunch at this lovely restaurant in the mountains. The drive up from Soller is breathtaking, wonderful dramatic scenery and what a beautiful restaurant this is, set in an almost tropical gardens above a natural rockpool. The food was really good with light options available such as salads. The service was first class really helpful and friendly and we were recommended a wonderful Mallorcan white wine which was one of the best we've ever had and good value. We've been coming to Mallorca for years but this was a refreshing discovery and one of the nicest meals we've had.

Have been visiting Es Guix for years and went back this year, twice; the location is out of this world and the restaurant and it's very chilly pool in its natural mountain setting is in the 'one in a million' range. Cheap it isn't. Food is great (selectively), steak to die for, other choices not so. but....you can put up with that if only for the location. Never overcrowded and the atmosphere is very laid back; gets a bit noisy if there are lots of kids, but on the other hand, you have to know that the place exists and where to find it; not much passing trade!
On the whole, a great, great venue and well worth a visit but DO reserve in advance.
