After 6 nights in Barcelona this was just what we needed. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. The island of calm did not disappoint and neither did tranquil Sa Tanqueta.
We were greeted with a glass of fresh orange juice and a warm personality. The hostess took us to our suite (rm. 14) and the view took our breath away. It was simply stunning. The suite was spacious and the corner terrace was large and sunny with views of the mountains, citrus and olive groves, and hotel pool area which works well as a central courtyard/ hangout spot. The pool size was more than adequate for the number of guests and the pool deck a popular lounge area.
The room decor was clean and quite modern yet appropriate for the setting. The breakfast was varied and the staff very attentive. They cleaned our room daily leaving behind fresh flowers, herbs, juice, towels, robes and any toiletries that needed replacing. Most guests kept to themselves so the atmosphere was quiet, sometimes too quiet, but the majestic landscape kind of dictated that. As one reviewer mentioned there was some noise from the school next door throughout the day, but it was minimal and didn't bother us at all.
Fornalutx as a town is adorable, has half a dozen restaurants, a small main square, a market and a bank. It's great for walking and hiking around. Other than that it's mostly residential. Soller is a 45 minute hike mostly downhill. Many people walk there and take the bus back to Fornalutx or hike back up. Port of Soller is also quite scenic. The beach, yachts and Mediterranean views only improve upon the already magical landscape of the region.
Getting there without a car: we're city people, we're used to trains and public transit and not so much for driving so we opted not to rent a car. After flying into PMI we took the bus (3Euros) to the Palma train station and then took the scenic train to Soller (19E round trip). There we had a nice lunch in the main square and after that took a taxi (9E) to the hotel. This may seem tedious, but really it didn't feel that way to us and much less stressful than if we had rented a car. We even had a large suitcase with us. We returned to Palma the same way. No regrets. Would love to come back some day.
