“One of the best”
Reviewed September 12, 2011

We've heard nothing but great things about Mallorca. And when my wife and I travel we prefer to stay in smaller boutique hotels. Out of all the boutique hotels we've stayed in from Sonoma to Italy, Sa Pedrissa is one of the best. First of all, you can't beat the beauty of the location. Second of all, the hotel and it's staff gets all the 'little things' right. They are friendly, curteous and helpful and they go out of their way to make your visit special. Not only is breakfast included but it's not a buffet, you order right off the large menu. We also ate dinner at the hotel 2 nights and the meals were fantastic. The traditional Mallorcan BBQ is very unique and a lot of fun. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and you certainly can't beat the view, especially from the pool deck. Our room was also very cozy. It felt like being at home with really nice furniture and quality linens. There is even a staff member that comes by your room to drop off chocolates in the afternoon.

The location of the hotel is convenient also. Only a 15-20 minute drive to Soller and about 10-15 minutes to Valldamosa. There are also some great little beaches within 5-10 minutes and the beauty on this side of the island is amazing. Think Amalfi coast of Italy without all the tour busses and traffic. Perfect.

Would we go back? Absolutely. I can't say enough good things about Sa Pedrissa.

When planning a 4-day break in Deia, it was a straight choice between Sa Pedrissa and La Residencia. We definitely made the right the choice.

Many comments have been made about this, but the location is unsurpassed in Mallorca. Views along the cooast and across to Deia are jaw-dropping. The road to Valdemossa runs close to the buildings, but it honestly was not an issue - and we like our quiet.

Very personal service from all members of staff. Nice touches like never being asked for a our room number/signature when ordering food & drinks, and thecomplimentary fruit & iced tea down at the pool. Friendly too were the resident dog (Troy) and cat (Mummy) who roam around outside.

We stayed in the Tower Suite, which had great views (i.e. the signature scene over the pool along the coast whenever you see photos of the propoerty). Furnishings are rustic but comfortable, with mod-cons like satellite TV and free Wi-Fi.

Breakfast was out on the lovely terrace, with an extensive choice. We had lunch there a few times (pasta with tomato and mushrooms was fantastic!), as well as dinner. View comment again - wonderful over the valley as the light faded and lights switched on.

Whilst check-out may be at 12 noon, provisions are made for those with later flights, including shower facilities.

Received an email from Enric a couple days after leaving thanking us for staying. Told him we will be back!

Room Tip: Rooms with views cost more, but are worth it!

Sa Pedrissa is a delightful old finca located just outside of Deia. The views of the med down to Cala Deia from the terrace and the pool are probably some of the best you will ever see. This is a unique property where every aspect of service is done with that lovely combination of total professonalism and relaxed charm. Our room was perfect; the bed was comfortable, there is a coffee machine, mini bar and safe in each room. Breakfasts are fantastic ..... do not sleep in! We broke our budget to stay here after a villa holiday with friends and are now saving to return......

Just stayed here for 3 nights on our tour through Mallorca. The hotel is a small very well kept Finca. The views of the mountains and the sea are just absolutly fantastic, arguably one of the best you can get. We stayed in the garden suite which was also very nice. Breakfast on the terrace was a highlight every morning. The place is quite and has a very nice swimming pool area. Looking forward to come again!!

We actually stayed in May 2010, but I forgot to submit a review. We had the worst weather since 1930, but still enjoyed ourselves! We stayed in two of the garden suites - both were lovely, a mix of rustic charm and comfort. The sun was shining when we arrived, so we made the most of the pool. What a location!

It is a charming hotel with wonderful staff.

Dinner (sadly inside) was wonderful. Excellent food and service. In retrospect we wished we'd eaten in more often. Breakfasts were very good too.

I am so glad I picked the Sa Pedressa Hotel for our anniversary weekend in Majorca.

Such a beautifully appointed hotel, even though it is located just off the main road, you feel like you are a million miles away and all you can hear is the chirping of the birds the cockerel and the leaves rustling in the breeze.

Firstly, the view from the hotel is breathtaking, it has to be seen to be believed, we could have just sat on the terrace for the 2 days of our stay.

The weather was fabulous for March, clear blue skies, approx 18 deg C, ideal walking weather, of which there are several walks 2 minutes from the hotel, we walked down to Cala Deia and from there upto Deia itself, however getting back to the hotel from Deia is uphill and along a main road, so I wouldnt recommend it.

We arrived at approx 11am and were pleasantly surprised to find our room ready for us. The room itself was stocked with everything you could need, a nespresso machine, mini-bar, fresh fruit on arrival, bath robes and slippers, toothbrushes & toothpaste, and many other little bits and bobs which made us feel like this was a special place to stay.

The hotel only has 8 rooms so you quickly start to feel like you have the place to yourself.

We decided to eat at the restaurant for our 2 nights in Deia, as the hotel is approx 2 km away from the other restaurants in Deia (uphill) , we thought it would be easier and more relaxing. The first meal was fabulous, we had beef cheek which had been slowly braised and was delicious. The extras that we were served were also delicious, freshly baked olive and tomato bread rolls with alioli as well as olive oil and olives from the hotels very own olive trees. The restaurant isn't cheap and the food is very richly flavoured but I would recommend trying it. Breakfast is served between 8 - 11am and includes cooked and continental foods, served with delicious fresh orange juice from local orange groves, and I would definately recommend trying the marmalade made from the hotel's very own orange trees.

The service was outstanding, the staff were patient, friendly and helpful and couldnt do enough for you, they really give the impression that they love their work (and who wouldnt in such a wonderful environment).

We were the only English staying at the hotel (Deia seems to be popular with Germans), and we were pleasantly surprised to be handed an English Sunday Times which they had ordered in for us without us knowing.

I hope to return back to Sa Pedressa and Deia soon.

Sa Pedrissa has the most wonderful position of any hotel we’ve ever stayed at anywhere in the world. Anything you may read about the position and the associated views from the hotel, restaurant, swimming pool and gardens does not and will not do it justice. The views are stupendous. Nothing more, nothing less – absolutely stupendous.
The hotel is a converted working farm all of which has been done subtly and tastefully all to the highest quality. We had reserved the Tower Suite, which unquestionably has the best views from its sizable terrace. This suite is on two floors with the bedroom and bathroom on the lower level with a staircase leading up to a small sitting room. Furnishings are of a very high quality and all in all it is a very smart room. The bathroom is similarly of a very high quality and very clean but there is no separate shower unit. The unit that is connected to the bath fittings is fine with good flow and consistent temperature but in all honesty the grouting and wall around the bath was very grubby Given the quality and cleanliness elsewhere in the suite this is quite disappointing.
The pool area is lovely. The loungers are comfortable with good sized sun shades and given the fact that there are only nine rooms in the hotel there is never an issue in getting a lounger or sun shade.
The restaurant is a bit of an enigma. While it is clear that the hotel and kitchen is proud of the food I’m afraid I’m not so sure. The food is ok but not brilliant. There is no real consistency of quality with regular examples of one course being excellent but the next very ordinary and on occasion very poor. We went half board with a fixed cost for dinner and to be honest this was a mistake. Where we didn’t take the full three course option we were still charged the full half board extra when what we did eat would amount to less. That’s our error though but one others should take note of if considering half board. To be honest go bed and breakfast and book dinner as and when you want. Breakfast is good and freshly prepared but after a few days it can become a bit boring.
Staff are helpful but not overly professional. We had a number of instances where we felt that they were struggling and in a couple of cases we felt that what we had asked for hadbe en forgotten about. Slick professional service it isn’t and really it needs to be top notch.
Prior to checking out we had asked for a copy of our bill the night before. We found several mistakes which was disappointing. For example the restaurant is closed on a Sunday night, but we were still charged the half board premium for that night. It was immediately removed from the bill but should never have been there in the first place. Another example was being charged for our dinner and wine bill and also someone else’s on the same night. Again this additional cost was immediately removed when brought to the staff’s attention but is not something you should have to do in an expensive and luxury hotel. There were a number of other costs for drinks and the likes that we weren’t absolutely sure about but as we couldn’t be completely sure so we let them be and settled up accordingly.
When booking we took advantage of the offer they had of a luxury car pick up from the airport which while expensive seemed to us a good way to start the holiday. Unfortunately, the car didn’t turn up at the airport and on phoning the hotel was eventually told after about half an hour of coming and going to get a taxi. Our advice is not to bother with this service – just catch a cab.
One final thing to look out for is the impact that a wedding has on the hotel. On one evening we were asked if we would be taking dinner the following evening. When we confirmed that we were planning to we were advised that as there was a wedding arranged the restaurant would be closed to residents that night. As a compromise we were offered dinner on our terrace which was fine as we had a perfect terrace for taking dinner but it would be very difficult were you to be in a room with either no or limited terrace access.
Don’t get us wrong, we had a good break and we enjoyed the hotel but there are flaws and weakness’s that need to be considered. It is expensive and in comparison to other hotels of similar cost it doesn’t really hit the mark. It needs to find a higher degree of professionalism and drive out the all the little niggles and then it will reflect its position, its infrastructure and its cost.
