5 day sojurn. Loved everything, particularily the sunbathing terraces at the private 'beach' with the excellent beach bar and picture perfect setting. Found the generally quiet and genteel atmosphere very relaxing and peaceful. Enjoyed the challenge of being on a mountainside: steps/stairs and steep walks everywhere particularly as we were in the top floor of the annex (much fitter at end of stay but perhaps the main hotel next time with a standard room as, in Sepetmber, there isnt a great deal of sun on the balconies). Easy transfer from airport (40 mins) local Deia/hotel taxi 60 euros, airport taxi 50, and definitely a good idea not to be self driving on the mountain roads!. Other guests had hire cars but found they didnt need them. Planned to do bus trips to adjoining villages, but ended up spending all the time in Deia and district which was a pleasure to explore, and the hotel 'beach'. On B&B basis so ate out in Deia most evenings with ample choice, didnt manage to book in advance for dinner at the Village Cafe, but lunch there confirmed the great service, quality of the food and value. One Tapas evening meal in the hotel: food great, service excellent, wine selection ideal, and compared to restaurants in Deia, very good value. Hotel very flexible about checkout for our evening flght: we were able to use facilities including end of day changing room/shower and keep account open until the taxi arrived. Staff always smiling, welcoming and helpful. Close to perfect experience and worth another visit!

Room Tip: steps/stairs and steep walks everywhere particularly as we were in the top floor of the annex (much...

I just got back yesterday from a stay at this hotel. The breakfast was fantastic, so much variety and tasted good. It is a very pretty hotel with a lot of amenities. The downsides I found to this hotel was that it did smell funny (as mentioned in a previous review). Also the reception staff during the day were not particularly helpful and quite uptight - we asked a reception staff member to call 3 restaurants for us to book a table for that evening at one of the restaurants. On our return we found that no table had been booked and only 'messages' left with the restaurants. This meant another 30 minutes trying to reserve a table on our return when we should have been relaxing and getting ready for our evening out. Also there is a rather dopey young female on reception who gets on one's nerves and is rather slow. Be warned, if you stay in Deia, taxis are not easy to get and it requires booking well in advance. Its also cheaper to get a taxi from the airport to the hotel then pay for the hotel's own taxi pick up service. Also the spa prices are more expensive than in central London so we did not use the spa unfortunately.

We arrived on a 9 night half board package holiday from 24/9 booked directly with Jet2 Holidays (this hotel is listed as one of their Indulgent Escapes).
After speedy transits through East Midlands & Palma airports we were whisked away by taxi on the approx 40 minute trip to the Hotel Es Moli.
Have visited Mallorca 7 or 8 times over the years, always staying in good quality hotels, and had seen this hotel whilst driving through the village of a Deia a couple of years ago.
Our initial impressions of the hotel were confirmed over the time of our stay and we believe it to be one of the best hotels we have stayed in anywhere.
As has been said by a previous reviewer, don't expect modern chic for this is unashamedly a traditional hotel, but with very high standards all round.
My wife and I were allocated a comfortable, spotlessly clean third floor room looking towards the village and the sea (20 mins walk to the cove at Cala Deia along an unmade track through old olive groves etc - not for anyone with mobility issues!). Everywhere throughout the hotel looked freshly decorated, although we were there towards the end of the season (hotel closes end October until April 2014).
The hotel has its own bathing cove at La Muleta and provides free coach transfers at regular intervals through the day. This was excellent, with several shaded terraces and sea bathing. Masks/snorkels etc are offered free of charge and the water was wonderfully clear with shoals of small fish. There is a small bar from which snacks are available.
Meals in the hotel on the half board package were buffet at breakfast, with a decent choice, and waiter served in the evening. We took all our meals outside and service, food quality etc was excellent. More in the way of a good quality a la carte restaurant than the usual hotel fayre. Some nightly musical entertainment, but of varied quality.
There are several ways to walk up to the village centre and reception staff always ready to help and advise. We found the Village Cafe excellent for lunches and guests we met on B&B told us they enjoyed evening meals there.
The only mistake we made was to have a hire car, which we collected from the airport part way through the stay. We thought it would be useful for touring and cancelled the included return taxi to the airport but, in reality we only used it a coupe of days. The local buses will take you to Valldemossa, Palma or Soller and fares are very reasonable (€2.85 each to Palma). Main attraction of using the buses was for the views. Additionally, the roads are largely narrow and winding, so a great deal of care is required, especially when some idiots forget they should be driving on the right, particularly on some of the numerous hairpin bends! Main arterial roads are good, but once off these is where the fun begins.
Overall, we had a fabulous holiday and will almost certainly return to Es Moli.

The Es Moli is a superb hotel but to truly enjoy what it has to offer, you must not expect a sleeky designed, 'boutique hotel' with minimalist decor, urban cocktail bar and giant flat screen tvs in the rooms. The only hip thing about this hotel is the dicussion of hip replacement operations amognst the guests, who are, as many have noted, very polite, rather elderly middle class Daily Mail readers that have been holidaying here for decades and could well have stepped out of an Agatha Christie novel. They are predominantly British and many of them know each other from crossing each others' paths and discussing the weather around the pool for years and years which makes for an atmosphere that blends a Gentleman's Club with the WI. My husband and I were the youngest couple by several decades but didn't mind one bit, for that there are no children hurtling down the corridors and yelping around the pool makes for a very peaceful stay.
The rooms are well sized and although many of them have been recently renovated, there remain some decidedly old fashion touches: the clunky old telephones, the bedside lighting ( no spot lights for reading or dimmer switch), the cheap plastic clothes hangers and the mini bar with its printed instruction that it is not to be used for storing your own drinks. I found the plethora of little printed notices rather irritating, but was glad of the one asking people not to towel-hog loungers by the pool as this may have been a problem otherwise.
The food here is very good and for 25 euros or so for the evening meal on half board, fantastic value. The range of dishes on offer was always interesting and varied every night without the sense that the kitchen was recycling much the same thing but with different vegetables, or simply masked by a change in sauce. We ended up dining out in Deia for just one of 7 nights, and ate extremely well. I must also add that the wines were very good value and absolutely delicious. After dinner, many of the guests linger in the lounge and the hotel has made a concerted effort to create a lively atmosphere in the bar by providing live music some nights....

My only complaint after staying there twice this year is that whilst the staff are supernaturally friendly and helpful, there are not enough of them. That there are only 2 porters to service a near constant flow of arrivals and departures means that we had no help with our bags on arrival and had to wait a long time for help on departure. It seems a daft move on behalf of the management to give such a bad first and last impression of one's stay, but the bit inbetween more than made up for this oversight.

This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel. We love the area and the Es Moli ticks the boxes for facilities etc. parking is good. Breakfasts are great with excellent choices, nicely presented. Tapas on the terrace is also worth trying albeit somewhat on the pricey side. We gave up on having Dinner in the hotel after our first visit. Evening meals are mediocre and the dining room is unwelcoming. There are lots of good places to eat in the village - village cafe and Xellini worth a special mention. If you want to hob nob with La Residencia crowd, eat at Sebastiens - pretentious and overpriced.
Bathrooms definitely need updating and some are very small. It's possible to hear everything that's going on in adjoining bathrooms as noise travels through the vents.
I don't agree with a previous reviewer that with an older clientele comes 'class'. Certainly it makes for a quieter stay.
On the subject of age - some of the older staff are rather complacent and disinterested - we found them to have exactly the same attitude at the beginning of the season as at the end. Some Waiters are plainly bored and unfriendly. Some reception staff treat guests as an inconvenience.
This all sounds rather negative but the Es Moli has far more positives than negatives. That's why we keep returning!

Room Tip: Nice to have a room with balcony - watch out for deals to keep costs down.

My husband and I have just returned from our second trip to Es Moli, this time for a little under two weeks, one week of which our parents joined us - 9-20th September. We were first recommended this wonderful hotel by neighbours last year and on this second visit everthing was equally as good. We have both stayed in some very expensive hotels around the world but have to say that this is probably one of the most friendliest. If you are looking for contemporary chic this is not the place for you - on the other hand if you want wonderful service, comfortable beds and rooms, consistently good food and the most amazing views in what is the best area on the island Es Moli and Deia is the place to be. True there is an established English repeat custom base (and now we are part of that crowd!) however, this is a good mix of ages and it was especially nice to see some young families this time around.
We prefer to stay in the annex as it has amazing views and is so quiet, we are also very fit so the extra steps are not a problem to us but my parents had a wonderful room on the 5th floor in the main building - a walk in shower was requested and although no promises made this was delivered, as was a small balcony which really made their stay extra special.
We have stayed in Deia on many occasions and eaten at most of the restaurants but as in our previous stay opted for half board in the hotel and again were not disappointed. We were always allocated a lovely table on the terrace and I think it is nice that there does not appear to be any favouritism over table allocations and the service from Fernando and his team was excellent every evening.
The terraces by the pool did get a little crowded and the first week sunbed "saving" was clearly evident but we prefer the little cove and there was never a problem there - during the second week things improved around the pool and terraces. The hotel are trying very hard to stop this practice with polite notices but guess it is just human nature - perhaps the simplest thing would be to have folded up the towels and used the beds anyway!
This in no way detracted from our wonderful holiday and we would also like to express our sincere thanks for the wonderful individual service we received yet again from Philippe, Anna, Beatrice and Adolfo - all the staff are wonderful but it was especially lovely that we were remembered from our last visit.
My parents so enjoyed their stay that they are making plans for the whole family to join them in 2015 for a very special celebration and no doubt Michael and I will return next year for another littel bit of heaven on earth.
Finally a huge thanks to all the staff at Es Moli for making us feel so welcome and pampered and we look forward to seeing you all again - continued success and a very well deserved rest over the winter months!

If you want to experience quality food, excellent service and breathtaking scenery, then visit Es Moli Hotel in Deia. This was our first visit and we were not disappointed. Yes. The clientele is slightly older, but with that comes class, quiet and an enjoyable holiday. The room was very comfortable. We were in the annexe and it does require climbing quite a few steps to reach but if you are agile it is not a problem. We enjoyed the wonderful views from the annexe as it is on a hill and you can see loads from there including the sea. Service was excellent. Evert where was spotless. The food was well presented, plenty of choice and some of the best we have been served in an hotel. It is a quiet place to relax so don't go if you want a lively environment with full on evening entertainment. The grounds are immaculate and you can enjoy the sun by the pool or one one of the verandas with stunning views. We had no problem getting a bed and non were reserved which was a blessing. Plenty to explore on foot or go by bus which is ridiculously cheap. They have their own cove which you get to by their own mini bus. Worth a visit. You can eat there as they have a restaurant, toilets and showers. Many guests return year after year and we can understand why. We received a bottle of cava in an ice bucket on our arrival in the room and a bottle of sherry....very pleasant. fresh flowers in the room every day.Give it a try........it has a lot to offer. Thank you to all at the hotel.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a balcony, but they get booked up early. The annexe rooms are good but does r...
