The Good: Fantastic food, beautiful pools, fab spa pools, lovely grounds. The rooms were entirely functional (not ones you would want to spend time time in necessarily) with comfortable beds, space, TVs and good bathrooms. The food really was amazing with something for everybody and the chefs and service was lovely. Nice public spaces, kids entertainment in the evening.

Things to think about are the location: the town is some way from the mountains, Palma and the chic areas of the island. Colonia is, however, a really nice little town and has access to some lovely beaches, although the hotel is a short distance from both. We would not choose this hotel for a holiday, but it was a very practical place to stay as a base for other things we were doing.

The Bad: We were there in half term when there were lots of kids and the pools were quite cold. The indoor spa pools were only open for 2x1hr sessions a day for the children and i couldnt help thinking that they should have been more available for the children in the shoulder season. While we were there there was a terrible storm that closed the outdoor pools for 2 days (and the tennis courts) and they still didnt make the indoor warm pools available to the kids.

The storm ripped the roof off of our hotel room filling it with water. We were offered no help to go into what had become a dangerous demolition site, collect all of our belongings and pack them up and move them. The hotel did arrange for all of our wet clothes to be laundered.

The hotel is very large: some of the blocks are a long walk from the restaurant and reception which should be considered for anybody struggling with walking. We arrived very late at night and were not shown to our room: it took us 1/2 hr of wandering around lost to find it.

The Ugly: There was a little female lifeguard in the pool that intimidated the children (and hence me) the whole time we were there. She clearly had no tolerance at all for kids and particularly resented the fact that they were allowed access to the spa pools for 2 sessions a day!

We were very disappointed during our recent stay at this hotel, and we really didn't enjoy it.
When we arrived, we were greeted by a confrontational staff member at reception who said we could not have the double bed suite room we booked as there 'were none free', and so we had to make do with two single beds-not ideal. They then offered to 'tie the beds together'; and we could not understand how we were able to book a double room if there were none available. We had also requested a pool view in our booking, but this also was apparently not possible.
The staff in the restaurant were rude and we were told both mornings during our breakfast outside to 'hurry up and leave', as apparently our table was needed! The first night we went for dinner in the buffet-it is very noisy, like a school dining room, and the food was disappointing with dried out salad which has obviously been taken in and out of the fridge many times and had flies crawling all over it. The meal times are very limited and you are told you have to sit at the same table every night. We felt rushed and unwelcome, and the canteen style atmosphere is very stressful; so even though we'd paid for all our meals we did not go back and preferred to pay for proper food and service outside.
The spa was the only redeeming feaure in our opinion, though children were allowed in it on all the occasions we were there, though it is meant to be for over 16's only.
The rooms are basic and the room safe is charged as an added extra. The gardens are well kept and pretty. Drinks are quite cheap, and the entertainment was fair; but over all we were disappointed and thought that with some changes of attitudes and the strict protocols by the staff that this hotel could have real potential to be a lovely holiday destination. The nearby beaches are beautiful and the restaurants in the local town at the marina are lovely. We will definitely not be returning and would not recommend this hotel for couples at all.

Room Tip: Ring the hotel directly to check they have your selected room actually available when you need it!

Just returned from a stay at this hotel - there were good and bad points which other contributors have referred to.

The grounds and pool area are very nice and the food of the standard you would expect for a four star hotel - but the orange juice is terrible and tastless - what a pity for an otherwise good effort in the food department - excellent waiting staff.

The reception is spacious but outdated - the carrpet on the stairs has seen better days as have the furnishings in this area,

The bedrooms are the area that I was most disappointed in- we stayed in a suite - the garish orange walls and curtains are tasteless in my opinion and not of the quality that one would expect of a four star hotel, also the cover on the sofabed could have done with a good laundering - it was uncormfortable to sit on as well. The bedrooms need a complete makeover - the beds are as hard as rocks and management should take note that it is unacceptable to have to put foam toppers on the beds of a four star hotel- there are no pillow protectors either which i would have expected in a four star hotel and sheets are limp and worn - note: you need to request fresh sheets if you require changing more than once a week - bathroom was disappointing - dated and poor quality fixtures. Tolietries - just average - need to be upgraded to meet four star standard

Our door card was disabled before the 12 noon checkout time and tthe cleaning supervisor knocked on our door before noon to see if we were going soon- this may be regarded as efficient I regarded it as poor manners - also cleaners knocked and entered the room without invitation - not what one would expect in any hotel

Also if you require an iron there is not one available but there is an ironing service which charges on average 3 euro per item

Overall the stay was a pleasant one- and if the resort was updated I might return again

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor room - and away from the block generator

Just back from 10 nights break and would recommend the hotel.
With reference to beds we found them hard and mentioned it after first night and memory foam toppers were put on and slept fine them. We were happy with the free wifi and had no problems with it. It is mainly used by Germans but no problem getting sunbed any time and liked you could change the beach towels for free. Very impressed with the choice and quality of food. After dinner we went to the white horse English bar nearby which also recommend . We had a early morning flight and received wake up call collected us with luggage and dropped us at reception where we could have breakfast before coach arrived wish it had not turned up so we could of stayed!

Just got back from six days at the Blau colonial, first impression was very good, nice lobby, excellent girl at check in, she gave us all the information in perfect English and was very professional.
Hotel is made up of small blocks, we were in block one which was a suite, TV all for German and Spanish guest, not even a English news channel , room was tidy but as im 52 years of age and they say you spend an average of a third of your life asleep, so that makes a total of about 17 years I have been sleeping, I have never in all that time slept on a bed so hard, I have spent more comfortable nights in a police cell.
If I may make a suggestion would the hotel manage like to try spending at least two nights in said beds then I am sure he or she would replace them all asap.
Nice grounds to the hotel, with plenty of greenery, two pools but one was split in to four separate areas to cater for adults and kids, what I did see of the kids club it seemed very very good, excellent Spa area, but beware, the foreign guest like to use it naked, not like most Brits who keep covered up for some unknown reason., plenty of car parking.
Usual buffet style food again geared up for our German friends but was edible, very good staff in the restaurant area kept tables clear.
There was Entertainment every night by the pool area but we only watched it one evening but it very good for a holiday hotel, hotel and grounds were very clean and tidy, now the $64,000 question, would I stay there again, yes I would but only if I knew they had changed the mattresses.

Room Tip: Pay the little extra and have a suite.

Definetely family-style resort with pools, spa and tennis courts. Nice, spacious rooms with gardens. Quiet and relaxing atmosphere. 15 min walk to the beach with option beach-bus. Disadvantages: unpolite receptionists, no WIFI (broken), animations mainly only in German.

Room Tip: Ask for room on the ground floor - it has nice garden.

I had a fantastic stay there. Great location, located right at the border of the city, and minutes from shops and stores. Top notch food, large variety of dinner meals and great breakfast. Rooms are nice, very clean and pleasant enough. Bathroom clean and with basic amenities.
AC is super quiet and really efficient. Standard rooms have a little balcony.
If you choose to relax and not go to the beach, there's many outdoor swimming pools, some for kids.
Great value for your money! I have been in other hotels in the area and this one is tops.
Staff is very nice and helpful, multilingual, with a slight preference for German :)
The only potential minus is the cleaning staff, which knocks on doors even if you have the DND sign on, or rattles their gear as early as 8:00AM, but that's more a Spanish custom and not specific to this hotel. Another minus (or plus, if you have a family) is the myriad of kids running around :) I find them rather cute, but some are crying loudly sometimes, which might diminish your experience of a romantic evening with your spouse or significant other.
If I had to find one thing to complain about, really, that would be the minuscule in-room safe, you wouldnt be able to store in there more than a couple things and definitely not a tablet or 14" laptop.

Room Tip: there are 5 buildings, E2 and E3 being the closest to the pools and animation, E1, E4 and E5 being t...
