I stayed in this hotel from 16th to 19th August 2012. We had never been to Palma before so opted to get a taxi to hotel Alexandra this took approximately 8 mins and cost 12 euros the driver adds on 4 euro as a tax before you ven leave so if I was you jump on the number 21 bus it will cost you 2.50 euro per person. On arrival to the hotel first impressions were good the outside looked well maintained and clean and the inside was immaculate! On checking in at 14.30pm we were told our room was not ready and apologised to the reason was that the previous occupants had paid for a late check out and had only just vacated the room and the maid needed time to clean it. We were given a key for the luggage room to stow our luggage so we put it in and had a look around the hotel. It really is a lovely hotel, so clean and modern fom it's new refurbishment, The pool area is beautiful with comfy sun loungers as well as double bed type ones the pool is big enough with a separate children's area and a poolside bar to purchase drinks, snacks and ice cream from. Looking over the back area of the pool it overlooks a beautiful sandy beach within a bay access to this is by walking down steps to the left side of the pool and it's right in front of you. There are also a huge promenade of shops and restaurants that lead you all along the coast. Once our room was ready we went up in the lift, they are small lifts and there are only 2 so at busy times we had to wait as we had a 2 year old and a buggy and as on floor 5 the stairs were not possible. our room was 517 it was not a room with a pool or sea view but was sufficient, clean and modern with a balcony and fridge we had free satalite tv but only English channels were bbc news. A friendly maid cleaned the room daily and supplied fresh towels The only thing I can fault about this hotel was the food and the customer service we encountered. The food was disgusting!!! We are not fussy eaters and really are not ones to complain we have eaten at many 3 star hotels were people had been moaning about the food and we couldn't see why but here it really is bad and many other guests we spoke to had the same view.We paid for half board so had breakfast and dinner included without room. The breakfast was bearable and had a wide option of pastries, cereals, toast, fruit, juices and tea, coffee included and English breakfast where a chef fries eggs, the meat is very poor quality though and just the look put me off it. Dinner times were a car crash!!! Tables were not ready just left with no cutlery on the first night we had to ask for cutlery for our table but was just pointed over to where they were and told to get it ourselves. The food choice was very poor quality and what we tried we couldn't swallow! I asked for a pepsi from a waitor and he forgot i ended up going without! The desserts were very bland not a lot of selection and the ice creams were nearly empty. We ended up going out for a meal and paying that evening. The 2nd night we thought we would give the food another chance, looked and walked straight back out, it was worse than the previous night a poor quality selection and hardly anything left at 9pm. I did feel ath is point it needed addressing as this was the 2nd night we were having to leave the hotel for our evening meal. I spoke to the receptionist and explained that the food was not the quality I would of expected from a 4 star hotel nd explained we had paid half board and were having to go out and buy an evening meal as the food was terrible, she did apologise and took our room number but no one got back to us and on the 3rd night we didn't even bother looking in the restaurant we went straight out for a meal. Hotel Alexandra the food really does need improving it is not 4 star quality it is 2 star! We did 2 trips whist we were here 1st to marineland and 2nd to aqualand we booked marineland via a excursion company on the seafront which included return ouch journey and caught the number 23 bus ourselves there and back to aqualand which only cost 1.25 euro per person each way and took approx 25mins. Another way to sight see is by going on a little mini train which runs along the seafrontto Palma centre and back it runs every 30 mins and only costs 4euros return per person and you can hop off and back on once. It picked us up from the stop outside the little arcade on the left as you come out of the steps I front of the beach. We would return to this hotel due to the perfect location and modern, clean facilities but we would only return on a bed and breakfast basis and not eat at the hotel any other meal times. When leaving for the airport catch the number 21 bus it's so much cheaper than a taxi and takes only 5 minutes. If you are staying at this hotel you will not be disappointed by it apart from the food in my eyes it is the only thing that is holding it back and needs to be improved drastically.

My husband and I recently stayed at this hotel from the 12th - 26th July, it was a fantastic hotel with wonderful views across the bay, all parts of the hotel were spotlessly clean, hotel staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble, the only complaint we had was the food, the first 2 days it was disgusting but improved and there was always something you could each if you wernt to fussy, certainly not 4 star food, the chef on the hot plate frequently disappeared for large periods of time and when he was there he cooked copious amounts of food then left them to go cold, come on get the food and dining experience up to par and it will be a real gem.

my partner and i stayed in this hotel in may 2012 it was a beautiful hotel with amazing views, the staff were very helpful the rooms were immaculate and cleaned on a daily basis. The value for money was in our eyes fantastic the only complaint we had was the food it was very basic however if you were German you would love it!! The pool area was lovely the double loungers were so comfortable it was hard keeping yourself awake.... A lot of people were complaining about the noise from the planes flying over as your so close to the airport, but we found this to be ok and after a day didnt even look up!! it says there is a private beach but you still have to pay 15 euros a day for loungers!!!! (take a towel its cheaper). We would go back at the drop of a hat, we had a wonderful time very relaxing.... wouldn't recommend it for children as there are no facilities really but for a couple who enjoy relaxing, eating out at restaurants and drinking this is the place to stay...... 8 out of 10

Room Tip: ask for a poolside view!!

Eight of us stayed at Hotel Alexandra for 10 days at the beginning of July. The hotel was all we could have wished for - spotless clean, comfy beds and comfy sun-beds around pool. We were booked in for Bed and Breakfast which was good. Plenty of choice and lots of fresh fruit too. Staff were very helpful and we will definitely return. We love C'an Pastilla and Hotel Alexandra and we are already thinking of next years dates. Our group was aged from 8 years - 70 years of age.

This hotel has newly renovated but tiny rooms, and service is miserable. When we arrived late with my son, we found that our room has an additonal bed (+1), and two other beds are moved togeter (because there is no other way to push three bads in this room). We asked to remove additional bed, because we need space to separate our beds (I don't want to sleep with my son in double bed). We got the answer that this can be done only next day, because the person who hanldes beds is not there anymore. The guy on the reception was very rough and argued with us saying that this is only 4 star hotel and we cannot expect perfect service. He also said that this hotel is mainly visited for short stay due to its location near to the airport, so we should not have high expectations. I made a little scandal and promised to put the bed out of the room into the corridor if there is nobody to do it for me, and other guests can jump over this bed when going to the elevator. This helped and the bed was removed.

We ordered the room with a sea view. Our room was on the sea side, but it was on the first floor, so our view was mostly trees growing in the front. Moreover, there is a roof directly behind of the balcony, so we could not leave the balcony door open over night due to safety reasons.

The breakfast was awful. We could not find a clean table, because they do not have enough stuff to clean. We had to re-use dirty table. Dishes were dirty. Guests were sorting out plates to find one more a less clean. Food was not fresh. Even my son who is usually eating everything was complaining.

They claim to have a private beach. However, the beach does not belong to the hotel. One have to pay 10 euro per a sun lounger.

The conclision is, if you want to have a nice vacation, go somewhere else.

Room Tip: sea view rooms are smaller than other ones. There is another building between the hotel and the sea...

This was our annual visit to Can Pastilla for a 4 day break before the schools break up. We have visited many hotels in the area including the El Cid. We were very impressed with the room we had - comfy beds, big walk in shower and very modern. The breakfast was good with fresh eggs and bacon cooked on the griddle. The sea view from the pool is stunning and the double sun loungers were a bonus especially for a siesta. The beach is down a set of steps from the pool area - we didn't pay the expensive rates for the sun loungers - it was more cost effective to buy our own umbrella and chair air beds. A courtesy room is available to have a shower before going home. There is a fantastic Spanish restaurant at the side of the hotel which we went to on our last night - wish we had found this on our other visits. Hired a bike for 5 euros for the day and cycled to Arenal and then followed the marked cycle routes. Really fantastic 4 days

Room Tip: We had room 102 which was overlooking the street but there are only another room next to it so it wa...

We have been to Can Pastilla many times & normally stay at the El Cid but as this was a last minute booking (El Cid fully booked) we decided to take a risk with this hotel. On arrival we were checked in very quickly & given the key to our room on the 4th floor with a fantastic view of the pool & the sea. We were a little disappointed with the room but mainly because it was so small but after thinking about it we would be spending most days out & only using the room to shower & sleep in. We had two great nights sleep only to be interupted by the arrival of 2 younger men (in a group of 4, the others were along the corridor), they seem to go between each others rooms shouting & banging on each others doors all through the night. After the 2nd night we spoke to the receptionist & they offered to move us to another room without hesitation, their only worry was that they didn't have another sea room available but at this point we just wanted a good nights sleep. They gave us a room on the same floor but the other side of the corridor, over looking the street. These rooms are much bigger, bigger bedroom, bigger wardrobes, bigger bathrooms & bigger balconies, I wouldn't pay the extra 20 euros a night for a sea room unless you tend to sit on your balcony all day. The food was ok although sometimes not very warm but the waiting staff are all very pleasant & the wine not badly priced. The chef was always cooking fresh fish in the evening. The area itself is lovely, you feel safe & can walk for miles or get the 'train' up to Arenal for 4 euros return. The sun loungers & umbrellas on the beach directly in front of the hotel are quite expensive at 15 euros, we did find cheaper at other beaches on the Island. There are some lovely bars & restaurants along the front but try & catch the live band at the Cuban Bar, they are very good. If you feel up to it hire some bikes & cycle to Palma, you trail the sea all the way & pass some lovely bars & restaurants. This hotel is close to the airport so you do get aircraft noise but after a few days it just becomes background noise. The upside is that you can be on the beach before the people staying in Peurto Pollensa are halfway to their hotel! Finally I think this hotel could be amazing when the refurbishment is complete with just a few tweaks, staff fully trained up, customer care finely tuned & a better choice of menu! Hope you have a good stay.

Room Tip: Don't pay the extra 20 euros for a sea view unless you tend to sit on them all day. They are qui...
