Son Boronat. Our home - your hotel ... All your senses will be refreshed at this beautiful place ... Great food (the kitchen is the Johnnie almost absolute rule) will be enjoyed in the authentic, cozy and homely environment which René and Johnnnie, offering the people of this ancient olive farm ... Hard not to take pictures all the time ... the beautiful and simple arrangements of old and worn tools, ladders, doors or just a sunset, seen from the balcony of palma room ... or from orange tree grove behind the house, where a beautiful view of the mountains in the west ... here is the old water reservoir, now an inviting pool on hot days ... If you listen you can hear sheep with bells around their necks, in the nearby olive or almond orchards, tap the crows in the early morning, bees buzzing in one of the great rosemary pots ... as if time has stood still here in this beautiful place ... We will surely come back ...

We stayed several days in the Andalusia Suite over the New Year. It was a little too cool in the morning for breakfast in the courtyard, but the warming fire in the dining room (along with the golden lab, Anton) set the tone for a truly relaxing day. One day we hiked the mountain just behind the hotel, to a 360 view of the stunning surroundings, and a couple of times walked the 2.5 km to the town of Calvia, through olive groves and sheep pastures, but otherwise simply enjoyed Son Boronat. The hosts: kind, thoughtful, attentive, but not imposing, are pros. Johnnie is an excellent cook, and Rene makes a mean mojito. Magical.

We have an apartment on the Island and went here for dinner. They only had a set meal, but the price (€25ea) and quality was great ! We had recently stayed in a similar Agroturismo Hotel and the chef / owner spent the time to show us around. The hotel we stayed in was twice the price, but the facilities and the 'feel' of the Son Boronat were not that different to where we had stayed.

The road up to the hotel is through fields and that makes it feel quite special and 'discovered'. The rooms looked great and I'd recommend the restaurant

I have travelled the world and I have stayed in some of the most famous hotels of this world. This is my first recommendation. Read why...

We invited the family to Mallorca and managed to squeeze everybody into Hotel Son Boronat. An old oil-mill wonderfully restored in an honest authentic style hotel and restaurant by Johnny and René. At first we wondered where we were going, driving the final meters up the dirt road, but soon we arrived at this very calm and inviting place. The first impression is the cosy cobble-stone and pebbles yard and the rustic environment with wonderful flowers climbing the walls and old clay pots and oil-mill tools. The atmosphere is absolutely calm and relaxing, and you immediately feel the couples urge to serve the guests whole heartily.

The rooms are simple and in a good quality. They are not awesome like 5-star hotels or Indian palaces, but they are perfectly clean and true to the old oil-mill they are a part. The swimming pool is an old restored water reservoir, very beautifully designed, with simple sun-beads and surrounded by orange-trees.

The restaurant serves great food and good local wine. We ate in several of the most recommended restaurants on this island, but not of them met the quality of Johnny's food. He served grilled meat, fish, salads and wonderful home-made desserts. We had to teach them how to mix a White Russian - but hey - we learned to live with that.

I could not believe that Son Boronat is their first hotel. I understand that their background in the traveling industry can help them but still, running a hotel is not an easy business and I can only give you the bottom line: We enjoyed our 5 days there in a way I could not have hoped for in my dreams. And we all came back tanned and totally relaxed. They served us perfectly, and I can not think of a better price/performance hotel if I include the entire world. Thank you very much !

Son Boronat is the perfect "get-a-way" hotel if you need time off from a hectic everyday lifestyle.
Here you will find the peace and calmness, that are so very hard to find anywhere in the world.

You will experience a top class service, over the top gourmet home cooked meals, that are indeed worth traveling for.

We have beed at Son Boranat several times, and even though we always have plans on trying some new restaurant - it always ends up with dinner in the court at Son Boranat.
When lying by the pool you will immedialy feel all stress disappear.

I will recommend anybody without children to visit this wonderful hotel, whether you stay overnight or just enjoying dinner - you will have a experience for life!

I have the pleasure to experience a wedding at Son Boronat - and this is the most romantic thing I have ever attended.

All the best

When you find a place as unique and tranquil as Son boronat, a part of you wants to keep it to yourself. However it is also our pleasure to write a well deserved review following our fantastic few days there.

The building is nearly 200 years old and the décor is sympathetic but stylish. Surrounded by mountains and set well back from any roads, one of the things you notice is the uninterrupted silence. There are so many thoughtful touches such as a big basket of oranges in the courtyard that you help yourself too. We had the room with the roof top balcony which is tucked away and feels especially private. I slept out on the roof for two nights because it was so hot (36C). It was very romantic and having only three rooms at present, there were two afternoons where we had the pool area completely to ourselves hour after hour. It felt very exclusive but that was not reflected in the prices which represented really great value.

The food was fantastic and all home made, even the breads of which there was a great variety. Being so small it made sense that the menu each evening was a set three course meal. However this only help to reinforce the sense of staying at somebody’s home as you never get handed a menu when you visit with friends. Our first night’s meal was so delicious we book the second evening meal without even asking what the set meal would – we knew it would be good and looked forward to the surprise.

Johnnie and Rene have real vision for Son boronat that they are working out day by day with real dedication. I know that the hotel will retain its charm as they expand over the coming years. My advise – get there while there are only three or four rooms on offer and soak up the atmosphere.

Thanks you two and Jackie - we will be back !
Rob
