I am well travelled and have been to many beautiful places but El Mago tops anywhere I have ever been. It is a stunningly beautiful small beach in a sheltered cove, a 6 km drive from Magalluf. Because of its sheltered location El Mago has an eco climate all of its' own. It could be overcast and windy in Magalluf but have glorious sunshine and a light breeze in the cove. The sea is crystal clear so much so that you can see the shadows of the small white fish on the seabed. The sea is shallow until quite a long way out. I'm 177cms tall and it was only up to my neck about 100 meters out making this beach perfect for children.
The beach is "clothing optional" and a haven for naturists. A sunbed will set you back the princely sum of €4.50 for the entire day. (the parasols' cost the same.) There are rocks on the edges of the cove and plenty of people choose to sunbathe on the rocks. The cafe is clean, reasonably priced and has basic 1st aid equipment. There are toilet facilities and these too are of an acceptable standard. Car parking is plentiful and free.
It's not the easiest place to find and a car is almost essential as it is at the end of a 5km woodland road. From the "Number 8 roundabout" follow the signs to Son Ferrer (past the Western Water park and The Porrarosa garden centre. Just after the BP petrol station the road bears sharply right but you want to be going straight ahead through La Poniente golf course. El Mago is signposted about 4kms along this road.
