We chose a cloudy day when it was not ideal to go to the beach, but the walk was worth it. Came early to park near the village, and then has a nice stroll along the long aths and had good views of the fishing village. Nice day out and finished with lunch in one of the local restaurants.

Puerto de Cala Figuera is a picturesque seaside town on the Mallorcan coast about an hour's drive from Palma. The harbor
extends inland some distance from the sea. It is well worth the trip combined with lunch at one of the restaurants. It is also served by the local bus system.

Mind that there are two Cala Figuera's in Mallorca. The one I am talking about is located on the way to Cap de Formentor! I urge you to pay it a visit because the scenery will leave you absolutely speechless.

Cala Figuera was on of those hidden diamonds that we discovered by pure luck. On our way to Cap de Formentor and in the middle of the mountains, we stumbled upon a little road with a little wooden sign saying ‘Cala Figuera’. We decided to have a look and we could not believe our eyes! This is by far the best Cala in Mollarca with the extreme contrast of the rocky mountains and the crystal clear waters. Although the Cala does not have a sand beach, the hike alone with this view is totally worth it. In fact I would advice you to bring some good shoes with you because you have to make quite the climb to get down there – so this Cala is only for the adventurers amongst us. However, this climb also means that families with small children and big tourist groups avoid it completely and thus once you made it down you can enjoy the scenery in complete peace.

As with other places we visited it's hard to imagine how different this would be in the busy tourist season. While were visiting there were just a couple of other walkers - we almost had the place to ourselves. Starting from the harbour and restaurant, we walked all around the two sides of the main inlet - with fishing boats, boat houses and houses lining the route in the most picturesque way - if we had more time it would have been possible to walk further. We sat in the sun (yes, even in January!) and relaxed. What more could you want?

Visited whilst on a cycle ride from Cala D'or. Very picturesque although the up and down sometimes rickety and narrow paving became difficult to navigate on the bikes towards the head of the inlet. We had to resort to Shanks's pony for a while therefore!
