“Nice, basic apartments on a spacious compound”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 16, 2012

The complex is slightly big, many rooms, and offers all the basic amenities that one might expect. Except, that most cost extra: Water-cooker (10€ once), hairdryer (10€ p.w), safe (4€ p.d), iron (4€ p.d), toaster (13€ once); and even TV (tiny old 17" CRT) sets you back 14€ per week. Not to mention WiFi.
The only really bad part is the incompetence and unpreparedness of the staff to handle problems and complaints. One day, at a heavy downpour, we had some 20 centimeters of water level in front of our apartment door (403), which was gradually streaming into the apartment through the doors, so that the whole apartment was flooded. Our complaints were met by various staff without any sympathy. Another, noisy, apartment was offered; and we were repeatedly told to "call your travel agent if you are unhappy". Luis Antonio said several times, he had no time, but had other matters to look after, and asked "Am I Jesus??" when we politely asked for a hairdryer (e.g.) to dry our things; and even dared to demand we pay the phone call to our travel agent's local representative. No compensation was offered (a gesture like a bottle of wine for dinner would have pacified us completely).
It is high time that staff be trained properly to handle valid complaints in a professional manner.

Room Tip: The large majority of the rooms is adjacent to the pool with nightly animation. In the Es Bolero / A...

We were disappointed to find that basic amenities such as a toaster and kettle were not provided. In order to watch TV or access WiFi there was also a charge however many of the local bars provided both these facilities for free. The rooms initially appeared clean but after retrieving an earring from under the bed it was clear that sweeping underneath the furniture was not a priority. However, towels were changed every other day and beds also remade at the same time.

We booked a cheap and cheerful week at Es Bolero, booked a studio but were luckily given a 1 bed apt. The studio next door had a sofa bed and a put up bed so glad we didn't get that one. We were on the ground floor with a shared terrace (walkway to the other apts) so no privacy but otherwise quite pleasant.

Rooms were lovely with plenty storage space, no kettle, toaster or microwave as mentioned earlier which was'nt a problem to us but not great if you have children with you. Bathroom was new and clean. Maid service 3 times a week, only changed towels and swept floors, don't think sheets were changed during our stay.

Bolero has full use of Martha's facilities and feels part of the hotel. We found a quiet pool around back of complex which was less crowded than the 2 main ones. We didn't try Martha's food or entertainment so can't comment.

Cala Egos is a small resort but has a good selection of restaurants and bars.Tony's was good value but our favourite was the steak House which was a bit more expensive but food was amazing. Cala D'or is approx 30 minute walk around the Marina to get to. We walked there and back twice for a night out and somewhere different to eat. We also ate at the Marina. Not a bad walk and only 5.50 euros for a taxi. Cala Egos beaches both crowded but nice.

Would consider going back again for a quiet break as it was good value for money.

we have just returned from Es Bolero which is in cala egos NOT cal d'or ( known as club martha complex),we stayed 1 week b&b and stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment in Es Bolero complex, there are 9 different complexs in this resort Es Bolero being one of them all having different names ( Es bolero / calion /urania /enterpe /talia /erato /terpsicore /clio /and c'dor ) all having different accomodation facilities,
Es Bolero was very spacious 2x large balconys with own sunloungers and table and 4 chairs, you have to pay 6 euros per day if you want to hire a kettle and 14 euros a week should you want the remote for the tv ,air con is free . breakfast was great, caters for all,hot breakfast, continental hams cheeses rolls croissants etc, also cereals yogurts toast jams etc.marina lovely walk and good restaurants and bars around it, beach only 4/5min walk from hotel to the sandy cove. Also 5 mins ride in taxi for 5 euros to get into cal d'or which has a large array of shops bars restaurants . Es Bolero is a great complex with 4x pools good entertainment, we had no problems with noise , food was great , tonys was good plus indiana johns does great curry and take away ,molly's irish bar food is excellant, overall great holiday returning next year, cant wait.

I have just returned from Es Bolero Apartments after a weeks B/B. I was a bit concerned after reading some of the reviews, but what a pleasant surprise. We were allocated a third floor apartment in block three (very quiet). A good size apartment with big bedroom and modern bathroom (Bath and shower). Free air con and 15 euros for the safe. The apartment was very clean and had good storage space. If you were self catering only you would need to hire kettles, toaster and TV. Two large swimming pools which were mainly used by families with young children mainly Germans and Dutch. The Buffet Breakfast was adequate Bacon, Sausage and Egg every other day. We ate out every night Tonys Bar/Restaurant being good value for money. We also visited Calor Dor only 5 Euros each way in a Taxi, or took the Shuttle Train past the harbour for 2 Euros each way. There are 2 beaches at each end of Calor Egos within 5 to 10 minutes walk, charging 12 Euros for 2 sun loungers and a parasol (Bit Steep).Calor Egos is very pretty, clean and a nice place to stay. Overall could not complain about the flight, transfer or the Accommodation, and would recommend this place to anyone.

Room Tip: Block 3 at the back of the complex on a higher floor

The Hotel Bolero is part of the Club Marthas complex however it does not in anyway feel separate to the hotel. We had a really nice large apartment, with a lovely terrace area with a table and chairs and two sunbeds. As we were on Half Board basis the only thing we used in the apartment was the fridge, however the only slight negative I did hear was the additional charges for things like toaster, kettle, cots etc. The food we got was all nice and we felt a good selection with themed nights three times a week. The two pool areas are really nice however you did have to be there for nine when they unlocked the sunbeds to get one, I do think this is not uncommon in many hotels in high season. The best thing about this hotel was the entertainment which was fantastic with something for all the family, our children aged 8 and 5 loved it! There is about nine people in the entertainment team all of which were excellent really friendly and enthusiastic. There was activities throughout the day for all the family then on a night was the kids disco which was brilliant followed by family friendly shows which included Tribute to Disney, Back to the Movies, Saturday Night Fever, Sister Acts etc. The entertainment for our family needs was fantastic and really made our holiday. The hotel itself is not actually in Cala d'or it is in Cala Egos is a nice little place with well over a dozen restaurants. The Marina is only about 15 minute walk away and this is a fantastic place to have a walk or a nice meal as there is a great choice of restaurants and is great to look at all the boats/yachts. Cala d'or itself is only a short taxi ride away with loads of choices of restaurants etc. The beaches are nice in this area however they are all small rocky coves rather than long stretches of sand like you find in resorts such as Alcudia in the North. Overall la fantastic holiday and we would definitely go back!

I have just returned from the Es Bolero Apartments, part of the Club Martha's complex. While I think that the site is basically good value for money, please be aware that some of the apartments are within 6 feet of a local bar, Pub Daniel, which has loud music playing until 2 or 3am. The description in many of agents' details is that these apartments are quiet and peaceful, away from the bustle of Club Martha's, which was one of my main reasons for booking as I don't enjoy the local entertainment. When I complained when we arrived and again the next day, I was told that I should take it up with my agent, the hotel was full and there was no way I could move. Fair enough, maybe, but please be warned that the apartments were anything but peaceful for us.

Other than the need for earplugs and the fact that we all 4 slept in the small bedroom to get away from the noise, it's actually quite a nice complex. We also had a problem with locks, French windows that had no key provided, and being on the ground floor this made locking the main door a joke. I complained about this on the first day and nothing was done.

Room Tip: If you book here, make sure you pay extra for a garden apartment or ask for a room away from Pub Dan...

Many thanks for your comments, and we are so pleased that you had a good holiday. We do advise any of our guests that if they have a problem , then they must advise us immediately. It seems that there was a misunderstanding with your complaint,as it should have been sorted that same day, but we wish that you would have mentioned the complaint once more, as there was obviously something that went wrong.
