“Great little hotel”
Reviewed July 23, 2012

Have just returned from a 7 day stay there with my wife and all i can do is repeat what others have said i.e this is a lovely little 2* hotel that maybe should be rated higher.
It's not for 20 somethings as it's very quiet or for those with children, but then its not advertised as such. The pool is very small but that's ok.Breakfast is good, both the cooked and continental.
Lunch snacks available for 6 euros with a pint of beer, glass of wine or soft drink.
Pint of San Miguel is 3 euros or 2.20 for a 330ml bottle.Cup of coffee 1.80.
If you want to take your drink outside of the bar area you will have to make do with drinking from a coca cola branded waxed paper cup,but as there were no signs of broken glass around the pool i guess this is a small price to pay. There is a basic computer in the bar area with internet access which is free to use but lacks certain software so i was unable to read my sky email, but there is also free wi-fi connection available albeit with limited range so was able to use the wife's netbook which we took.(Ask reception for the network key).
We heard no noise from the nightclub opposite to our room (401).
The beds were a bit on the hard side but we lived with it.
As others have said you get 10% discount at Don Leone's restaurant among others by showing your room key/card.What i didn't find out until our 4th visit was that if eating before 8pm you get a free litre of house wine, this is stated on the menu boards outside but not on your table menu.
The best place to go for tapas is Cana Tapas, just past woody's bar. This is just like the tapas restaurants of old and not like the current crop which use the word to offer you a mixed grill.
Most dishes are 3.80 euro and the portions ARE large.
All in all we had a great time there.

Have just returned from a 10-night stay at the Hotel D'Or with a friend and we have had a great time.

The rooms are very basic but everywhere is kept clean & tidy. We stayed in a room on the high floor which had a good sized balcony with sunlounger & chairs. Beds were made, bins emptied and towels changed on a daily basis (except Wednesday's). The pool area is very nice & we managed to get a sunlounger everyday but you do have to be up early as most people 'reserve' them. Breakfast is basic but ample & catered for everyone. The food from the snack bar is very nice & they do daily specials on the food along with happy hour on the drinks everyday.

The hotel is in a brilliant location with a Spa shop just across the road. The beach & town centre with plenty of shops / bars / restaurants are within walking distance. Can highly recommend the Steakhouse just next door to Burger King & also Aquamarina in the centre. There are numerous 'parrot' cocktail bars to head to which are great. The Marina is a short stroll away but it is a little more expensive to eat there.

Would certainly recommend the D'Or and feel it is far more worthy of a higher rating than 2*. Small & friendly is exactly what it is & wouldn't hesitate to stay here again should we return to Cala D'Or in the future.

Room Tip: High floor to the right hand side of the building

We stayed here for 11 nights. Pleasant hotel with everything you need. Rooms are basic and we had a bit of a problem with ants but once we mentioned this to the staff, things were sorted with a can of ant spray! Location is great for walking into the town centre. There did not seem to be much entertainment as such on an evening so we went over to the sa marina hotel opposite who had entertainment on every night. Marina only 5 minute walk away. Lots of places to eat. Woodys bar is good for a nightcap with karoke. If we were to go again, probably only go for a week

Just returned from a lovely stay at this hotel. Ok the rooms are a little basic but that's a minor point as still comfortable and cleaned almost every day. The pool area is fab with a good bar area for drinks / snacks. An excellent location set in a quieter spot but just around the corner from the main part of Cala D'or and just a short stroll to the beaches.
Staff work hard to maintain this lovely little hotel, it's definitely worth a visit would return no problem!

Room Tip: Try and get a room at the back of the hotel away from the road. The road itself isn't too bad bu...

We were given ground floor room which had a little porch area and opened straight to pool area. Pool was lovely, breakfast was good and staff helpful.Town center and beach just minutes from hotel, and Cala d'or much prettier than we expected. The down side were the beds as they were quite hard and uncomfortable and the room needed updating. The beaches are lovely and the sea second to none although it does get quite crowded as the beaches are very small.

Room Tip: The upper balcony rooms looked nicer than ours

We stayed here for a week in June 2012 and it was brilliant. Nice small complex with no children! Pool is small but fine. Room was on small side but spotless and decent size balcony with chairs and a lounger. No problems from any noise nearby (we were on roadside so got evening sun).

Good breakfast selection. Friendly staff. Best thing is that we were half board and the evening meal was in Don Leone's restaurant close by - much better than an evening canteen experience! Restaurant staff were great and there was a selection of three starters, mains and desserts each day. Best starters were - warm salad, pate, mains - salmon, ribs, cordon bleu, dessert - mousse!

Happy hour was great (half price drinks) and our trip coincided with European Championships so there were additional happy hours before each game! It is only a two star but is great for this (if you used to 5* luxury, this it is not - but we were very pleased). Would definitely go again.

We booked the hotel, flights and transfer through Easy Jet. Flights on time, transfer smooth, and the hotel a very pleasant surprise. Situated on the edge of the pedestrianised area of the Town, it is an ideal location for the beaches, about 10 minutes, the Marina, about the same time, shops and restaurants. Our room had a small patio with a grass area,,loungers and two chairs. The room was very clean, compact and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. There is a safe for hire and probably worth taking. The bathroom was very clean and the towels changed every day. Sheets were changed twice during our stay. I believe the rooms have been refurbished with a new TV, shower head and mattress. The Staff were very friendly, and when I asked for an extra pillow, the girl immediately brought one. Some have commented on the breakfast, however I have had much worse in hotels of higher star rating. The choice of hot or cold food was available and varied to some extent daily. The pool was very fresh, clean and quiet. One thing to note, if you request a pool view or an upstairs room, I doubt if it will be granted. This in no way detracted from what was a very enjoyable holiday.
