“4 years later and still loved Rocamarina!!”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

Me (aged 22) and my boyfriend (aged 23) have just returned to Rocamarina 18/07/2013 after 4 years and can honestly say we still LOVE it and didn't want to come home.

The entertainment reps Izzy and Mike were fab and made you feel very welcome from day one with joining in with the activities and didn't make you feel like the "newbies" of the group.

The hotel/ Thomson's met all of our requests which we understood were not guaranteed but were met which we were very happy about. We also received a bottle of champagne as we were returning guests to the hotel which was a nice surprise.

The food was good and the Restaurant Manager was as friendly as what he was 4 years ago. The cleaners do an amazing job making sure everywhere is spotless. Our room was very clean every day.

The only negative was the transfer, we were not informed that Thomson's were trialling a new thing where Rocamarina were not going to be priority stop off (being a gold its what the brochure says is a benefit), so were disappointed with this but everything else was perfect!!!

Will defiantly return.

Room Tip: Pool view and if you can afford to upgrade to superior rooms.

Reviewed July 30, 2013

I previously stayed at Rocamarina in July 2010 (see my review “A little piece of old England...”
Reviewed 27 July 2010).
I returned in July 2013 as a fairly last minute booking and I have to say I was really pleased to be back.
Not much has changed overall except that everything seemed to have improved slightly from my last visit.
The restaurant manager, Juan, does a great job in keeping the restaurant (and the guests seating requirements!) running efficiently.
The quality and the freshness of the food has improved considerably from a previously good standard. The food is kept hot and many more dishes are now prepared freshly in front of you. I even had grilled fresh squid which was excellent. There is something unusual about eating Apple Crumble or Bread and Butter Pudding in +30C temperatures...but it is undeniably delicious!
The hotel left a bottle of Cava in our room as a "Thank you" for being a returning guest....an unexpected and pleasant surprise!
The Tenis (yes that's how they spell it) Bar was even better than I remember, offering some absolutely delicious dishes. One of the waiters remembered us from 3 years ago!
The whole area of Es Forti and Cala Egos appears to have smartened up over the past 3 years with some fairly new shops and restaurants/bars.
I'm beginning to understand why people return year after year!
I would like there to be a little more regional/Spanish entertainment put on at Rocamarina - perhaps a Spanish Guitar player for an hour a couple of times a week. I'm afraid I got a little bit bored with the resident duo who, although undoubtedly talented, tended to cover every song in a Neil Diamond style.
However, overall, I've added an extra star this time round. May be, like Rocamarina, I'm improving with age :-0

spent a week here in july and really enjoyed it.Hotel is clean and staff really friendly. It caters more for the over 60's but that did'nt put me off.(i'm 49 and my sister is 54).The food was really good and varied and entertainment was overall good. The only negative thing was the uncomfortable sunloungers round the pool.No padding on them which would make big difference. The pool across the road at the tennis club which belongs to the hotel has padded sunloungers and a lovely bar/grill.The hotel is in the best location in the resort and is only a 10min walk to the beautiful marina and another 20-30min walk into cala d'or.There are lots of restaurants and bars in cala egos but gets quiet around 11oclock. Overall a lovely resort and a great hotel. Will be back.

We have recently returned from a two week stay at the Rocamarina, our second in ten months. The hotel is situated in the resort of Cala Egos and not Cala D’Or. This resort is about a 35 minute walk via the Marina to Cala D’Or. The resort of Cala Egos has numerous restaurants, small gift shops, Spar supermarkets and an Eroski supermarket all easily accessible. The medical centre and pharmacy are in the main shopping area very close by. The buses and road train are virtually on the doorstep.

The hotel itself is situated in an area of apartments and hotels. At times there is a certain amount of entertainment noise coming from the other accommodation which can be overpowering. The hotel garden and pool area has plenty of sun loungers now that new ones have been purchased.

The food is varied, plentiful and of a very good standard. A table is allocated at your first meal after arrival. The restaurant staff are all efficient and friendly, especially Natalia.

The entertainment is geared for clients of the older generation. Daily quizzes, cooking demonstrations, light exercise, including Aqua Volleyball. The resident duo Vegas, Chris and Wendy are excellent. They perform a varied playlist and Chris has an amazing voice and lovely personality. The acts which follow at 10pm are also not bad, but this does of course depend on one’s taste.

Our hotel room was second floor and as we asked for an afternoon sunny, quiet room we were placed at the back of the hotel. Unfortunately, although it was extremely sunny in the afternoon, we did find quite a bit of noise from the fairly busy road which ran along the back of the hotel. Not enough to complain about but on hind sight we preferred the room we had last year which was actually on the ground floor and situated on the quieter road at the front of the hotel. This had the morning sun. The room was extremely clean, and nicely furnished, plenty of coat hangers and drawer space in the full length, mirrored wardrobe. There is a fridge and plenty of sockets. The TV has numerous English channels. There is no tea or coffee making facilities.

The bathroom has a bath with shower over with a fixed glass screen. The bath was very close to the toilet and getting in and out of the bath may be a problem for people who are less agile! The bathroom has an enormous mirror and a magnified one near the hairdryer and separate socket. The air-conditioning is controllable in the room and effective.

The safety deposit boxes are located the hotel foyer, as usual for an additional charge. Pool towels are available to hire for a deposit and will be changed on request at reception.

The hotel is one of the most relaxing we have been to, hence our second visit. All the staff are courteous and friendly. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the front of the hotel are quieter than the back.

Returned on 15th July from our 5th visit to the Rocamarina. As usual we were made to feel so much at home the moment we walked through the door. It is a very well run family hotel. The family are very friendly and go out of their way to make sure their guests are well cared for. No matter which member of staff you encounter, you are always greeted with a cheery smile. We must particularly thank the housekeeping staff, Juan and his restaurant staff who work extremely hard, Antonio and his staff in the Tennis Club for their warm welcome and extra care and Juan the night receptionist who is so kind and friendly, as indeed are all the receptionists. We mustn't forget the bar staff! What a great job they do!

So, all in all, we were surrounded by old friends and new in a spotlessly clean hotel, located in a lovely area within walking distance from the beautiful Marina, shops, etc. excellent food with so much variety, a plentiful choice of drinks and wonderful friendly staff. What more could we ask for on holiday?

We were also impressed with the early morning departure buffet breakfast laid out in reception. Thank you!

There will definitely be a 6th visit!!

Returned home on 25th July after spending a relaxing two weeks here. We had no problems with transfers, about an hour and first drop off. The staff here are excellent, always cheerful and helpful, the restaurant staff are professional efficient without being "in your face". The food was very good with a varied choice, every night there was either fish or meat choices on the grill, cooked whilst you waited so no cold meals and a wide variety of salads. We had a room on the front of the hotel looking onto the road but were not disturbed by traffic noise. Someone commented about the AC going off if the door isn't closed properly - surly if you have the balcony door open you don't need AC.
Altogether a lovely place to stay the entertainment at night could be a little better, although this is a gold hotel we are not all decrepit!!! some of us were around in the 60's so Frank Sinatra was a little too much!!! having said that we are looking to a return visit in 2014. it doesn't matter where you go on holiday you can not please everybody.

2 week holiday July 2013. Overall ok but definitely some bad points. Dining area incredibly controlled. You have to sit where you are told, every mealtime & the tables are so close together, creating akwardness between diners. we
dreaded mealtimes & sometimes left it or went out to eat
Food average, ok if you like custard & milky desserts. The pool is too small to accommodate even half the guests. The second pool is nice and generally has space but you have to pay 12 euros for 2 sunbeds & umberella each day & the unfriendly guy who takes the money is so zealous! The entertainment is the most surprising. The 2 acts that were good are the El Divo tribute act and Graham Powell singer. As for the others - they need to go back to Butlins training school where they came from. Izzy the compere whos a cross between Victoria Wood in voice and Melinda Messenger is very irritating.
