“Great food for a 3*”
Reviewed October 30, 2012

I arrived home a few days ago from a stay at this hotel, I found the staff very pleasant and the accommodation for a 3 * above average. The food was very good for the rating and better than some 4* hotels which I have stayed in.
The down side to the holiday was little things which were neglected, the bar was understaffed which meant long queues each night. There were not self service for the all inclusive drinks even the tea and coffee outside of the meal times in the dining room.
My room was on the top floor and following a storm it rained in, when this was pointed out the lady on the desk just stated that it had stopped raining, obviously from the lack of repair they had no intention of doing anything about it, i moved rooms.
One disappointing thing is that all week we never saw anyone cleaning the pool. On our leaving day I looked at the pool and there was a great deal of debris moving around the bottom, from hair grips to pine needles and more, I am just glad I didn't venture into the pool for a swiim.
On the whole a good value holiday in a great location.

My family of me and Husband, My Mum plus 13 year old and his best friend have just come back from an all inclusive week. We had a smashing time, the hotel although yes was dated, certainly made up for this with its stunning location, our best ever actually. The food was plentiful and enough choice to please everyone, the staff was pleasant and although not a fantastic entertainment schedule, Greg Feix the hotel rep kept everyone happy and entertained.
We would recommend especially for location, plus the hotel was spotlessly clean, well done to all staff.

Room Tip: Definaltely request sea view, its beautiful

al keep this brief. i agree with a lot of the reports on here. the hotel is very dated, think 1960 s, no air con, i suffered badly in oct, singled glazed so noisy at night, and some of the staff very very rude. but great location, not far to town and great views over the cove, good food and drink but also entertainment very tame, all in all for what we paid we put up with the bad points. would go back to cala dor but not back here, would gladly pay more for better

Just come back for 1 week all inclusive at the Cala Fererra and loved it. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and the hotel was very clean. I am a fussy eater but there was always something to eat. It was 15 min walk to Cala D'or centre but plenty of shops and bars close by. Only problem was no air con in the rooms. The hotel is quite old but this meant that the rooms were bigger than newer hotels. I had a room on my own which was no extra cost which is unusual. Great holiday;0)

Just come back from a 1 week all inclusive holiday at this hotel.
The hotel itself is in a great location, and we found it very clean. Maid service every day.
Was glad we were only on the first floor though, as lifts are very tiny and could do with renewing.

Couldn't fault the food- great selection for breakfast, lunch and evening meals in the restaurant and restaurant was very clean.
Snacks during the day were pretty good too..

All Inclusive, was very good as it carries on until midnight although there are a lot of drinks that aren't on the all inclusive, but these can be purchased for half price, then after midnight, drinks are half price if all inclusive.

Hotel could do with more staff, as I agree with many people on here, Eddie, and Luis seemed to be doing most of the work. Eddie was in the downstairs bar, doing everything on his own, and for this reason, instead of the pool bar opening at 10.30, it usually didn't open til 10.45 as he was running round, getting food (from the upstairs restaurant), ready to be served downstairs..

Main bar in the evening did get very busy, as again, only one person seemed to be doing all the work, and there was a couple of evenings that the queue for drinks was so long, we didn't bother, we just went across to the carabel bar (happy hour, buy one, get one free) on all drinks from 8-12pm every night, with karaoke. Great bar with great bar staff, who we have known for years.

Although it made a lovely holiday for October, I don't think we would like to stay here in the height of the season, as the pool area isn't massive, so think it would be pretty full, with not much chance of being able to sit anywhere. Also, there is no air-con in any rooms, so think it would get very hot in July/August, as we found it hot enough in October.

One pretty bad point we did notice was on the day before coming home, we happened to be sitting in the downstairs bar, waiting for it to open in order to get a coffee. We then saw Eddie coming downstairs as quick as he could, carrying trays of food, as he always did. But on this particular morning, he was carrying a can of fly killer in the same arm as the food. He then put the food on a table, and sprayed all around the food serving area, with the fly killer, going pretty mad with it,(think it was to kill some ants) then straight after, putting the food down in the area, while it still smelt pretty bad, with fumes around still. I must admit, that did put me off on that day, and I wouldn't eat anything from there that day.

All in all it was a good holiday though and I would go back to the hotel but just not at height of season.
And definitely needs more staff.

Bad points: The hotel is dated and showing signs of its age and is without any Air Con.

Good points: 1) Clean! 2) Friendly, helpful staff. 3) Cracking location. 4) CHEAP!

We paid, for 2 people, for 2 weeks, Only £200 more than it would have cost us to go elsewhere self catering. (A meal out in Cala D'or with only 1 drink each cost us 50 Euros!).
Yes, a couple of times in the dining room I did struggle to find something to my liking to eat.
Think about it - How would YOU go about catering for hundreds of people every day, including a mix of nationalities and provide dishes to keep everyone happy?
There are many reasons why people are ill on holiday - climate, change of water, excess alcohol, so unless people around you are dropping like flies, it's perhaps a little unfair to instantly presume it's the food?
The hotel will inevitably at some stage receive an upgrade, but you will then pay more.

Bottom line is: It's a 3* budget hotel at a 3* budget price, because if you could get a 5* for the same price, we'd all be there

Room Tip: Sea/Pool side room provide lovely views.

We returned home from Cala Ferrera Hotel, yesterday afternoon and we would all return..
We went and celebrated my sisters 40th birthday,we stayed for 10 nights all inclusive, and we all had an excellent time.
We had read the bad reviews so we were obviously concerned as we had children with us, but we were pleasantly surprised.
YES the rooms are basic, but we did not go on holiday to stay in our rooms,Neither did we go to play the part of "hotel Inspector"!!!!! YOU cannot fault the cleanliness, the maids were so friendly, often gave my son sweets, and were nothing but accommodating.....
The staff were very friendly and work very long hours, but always had a smile and time to chat. Luis & Eddie are fab.....nothing was to much trouble for them...
Greg the children's entertainer is oozing with personality and great with the children and parents!!!...
Would def recommend if taking children for them to do the tee shirt painting @ 10 Euros ....
We personally could not fault the food, you must be a very fussy eater if you cannot find anything to eat, there is so much choice, and well presented.....They even baked a surprise chocolate birthday cake at our request to celebrate my sisters 40th birthday and they did not even charge us.....
We ARE looking at going back next year.....Also the beach is lovely the walk down is NOT as treacherous as some may have described!!!
The only bad point was that the lifts stunk, smelt like dead rats,!!!!!!!! but that has not put us off returning.........
