What can I say? From the moment we arrived and Toni took our bags off the coach and put them in our room, to the moment we left after a glorious week, it was bliss. Our room was on the first floor overlooking the beach and the Levante swimming pool. It was clean, comfortable beds, mini bar, safe etc. and working quiet air con and a great shower in the bathroom.
Each morning we went down to a freshly cooked breakfast and served tea or coffee by the excellent staff and restaurant manager.
The evening meal buffet was always excellent with many dishes cooked to order and a great choice of starters and desserts.
We paid a little more than you would expect , but our previous booking got cancelled two days prior to leaving, and we were amazed and ecstatic when Thomson Holidays got us in here.
A very popular resort and hotel and we plan to book again straight away

Room Tip: always aim for sea view as there are some rooms that overlook the street.

Just returned from having spent a week in this hotel. From the minute we arrived, greeted by a welcome drink, the service was exceptional. The room was very clean and well laid out. Towelling robes, slippers, fruit and water were there for us, nice touch with fresh flower in the bathroom, and we had a spectacular seaview. Wi-Fi available at no extra cost. The hotel dining area had the atmosphere of a restaurant, even although it was self service. It was quite intimate as there were only 50 tables, though tables were always available. Angelise, the hotplate chef, had everything under control as she took personal orders from each guest as they approached her cooking area. Miquel, MD encouraged my attempts at Spanish, gratias!!! The bar staff were friendly and worked very hard, the food from this area was always delicious and well presented. Housekeeping was excellent, everything kept spotlessly clean. A big thank you for making our stay relaxing and enjoyable.

Room Tip: Rooms to front of hotel get sun from afternoon onwards. They overlook the street, however there is n...

This was our second stay at tha Gran Sol in Cala Bona the hotel is in a prime position right on the beach and only a short walk to the harbour one way or 10 minutes the other way takes you into Cala Millor with its many shops and bars,The hotel offers fantastic service with-out being over the top the bedrooms are clean with all we needed included in the room tariff, Wi Fi,safe and a good range of English tv channels, The bathrooms are quite small and with the shower being over the bath can be a bit difficult getting in and out with out slipping,Food in the restuarant is good with the breakfasts being well worth mentioning, Sea veiw rooms are well worth the small extra charge, we woke each morning to a glorious sunrise over the sea and beach, All the hotel staff offer excellent service and are exceptionally freindly getting to know the guests and remembering their requirements, Entertainment was sparse in the hotel but just across the road are two sister hotels with quite good entertainment, The cleaning team keep the hotel absolutely spotless, and the bar and restuarant staff look after the guests with top class service,

We had the most wonderful time at the Gran Sol. We loved that it was a small hotel and felt, very much, that we received a personal experience.
We feel that the small attention to details is what makes a huge difference at the Gran Sol. These include things, such as complimentary fruit and water on arrival and tapas offered by the pool.
We were slightly concerned before leaving that we would struggle to find a sun bed by the pool each day but this was not a problem for us. People we spoke to from the sister hotels next to the Gran Sol complained about the availability at the larger hotels.
Staff: All of the staff were friendly and professional.
Food: The breakfast selection was excellent. There was fresh fruit, pastries, cereals, hot food. There was also an fantastic egg, bacon and omelet chef, who managed the timings superbly. We ate evening meals twice. It offered a good selection and was great value for money.
Room:Our room was modern and comfortable. We paid extra for a sea view and was glad we had chosen to do this.
Location: A very short walk to a lovely harbour and some nice restaurants.
It was a luxury for us to be so near the beach.
Hotel entertainment: We were very happy with the hotel amenities and took advantage of the free wifi. There was a board games room which we didn't use but it had a wide selection of games.
The only slight draw back, if applicable, was the lack of entertainment.( very much a personal preference) For us the two music acts was plenty and of a reasonable quality. If you enjoy daily entertainment and lots of evening entertainment the hotel doesn't provide this. However, you can visit one of the sister hotels if you want this.
This has become one of our favourite hotels and we would love to visit again.

Returned on the 7th of Sept having stayed for one week . This hotel exceeded all our expectations. All staff were very friendly and helpful especially Catalina on reception .The whole of the Hotel complex was spotlessy clean from the sundeck right down to the pool. The robe and slippers ,fruit and flowers are a lovely personal touch.Food selection in the restaurant was excellent as were the staff. All in all a wonderful holiday. One small complaint the poll is very shallow no good for swimming. Sad I may not be able to go next year as it is going up to platinium and maybe out of my budget.

My wife and have just returned from one glorious week at The Gran Sol 03 - 10 September 2013 and would definitely recommend this hotel to couples.

The entire hotel is kept to a very high standard throughout, very modern, very crisp, the bedrooms are fresh and very clean. We would recommend a sea-view room.

The gym is small, has all the key equipment but needs to be brought up to date in line with the rest of the hotel. The indoor pool and gym have truly beautiful views of the ocean and there is a roof top terrace for sunbathing on the fourth floor.

The main pool area is lovely and the sunbeds are really comfortable but people still insist of putting towels on beds at the crack of dawn. The hotel should adopt the 10:00am rule whereby no beds can be left unoccupied and reserved with towels before 10:00am each day. There is a man-made beach is just metres away, however a 10 minute stroll along the flat promenade to Calla Millor takes you to a vast stretch of stunning natural beach.

In our opinion, The Gran Sol's food is the talking point, we found both the 'Dining Experience' and the quality of the food to be absolutely fantastic - we took the half-board option and thoroughly enjoyed every meal, the quality, presentation and service is equal or above that of a 5* grand lux hotel.

All the hotel staff we talked to were very helpful and friendly.

Cala Bona is a beautiful resort with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. It is Calla Millor's smaller cousin, but no less enjoyable. If you like musical entertainment, you will love Calla Bona / Millor because they both have more than their fair share of tribute acts singing in many places most evenings, Tom Jones. Take That, Queen, Country and Western, there's something for everyone but significantly the resort doesn't seem to suffer the blight of stag or hen parties, we didn't see one, it's definitely a couples or families resort, very comfortable and relaxing.

Guests at the Gran Sol Hotel can enjoy the very high quality entertainment at the Levante Hotel next door.

We will be returning same time next year.

Room Tip: Sea view worth the extra cost

Yup, just returned from a short stay again. Ticks all the right boxes, lovely personal touches also (individual tea pots at breakfast). Staff excellant, very clean hotel and rooms more than adequate.
Sunbeds, never an issue as I do not use them. Much prefer to explore and get out the hotel, but thats my game when on holiday. Food top notch, see you all next year......

Room Tip: all rooms are very good.
