“Lovely Hotel”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

I stayed at the Gran sol for 5 nights with my mum. We were late arriving at the hotel so basically went straight to bed. We woke in the morning and was really pleased with the room. We had a robe and slippers each and fresh fruit had been left. We opened the curtains to a lovely balcony with a sea view which was amazing. The food was 5 star, lots of choice, fresh and cooked how you wanted it. The staff were all really friendly and the service received by all was amazing.

We went to the sister hotel next door, Levante, as they provided evening entertainment. Although this was mainly aimed at the over 60's it was really fun and the drinks very reasonably priced.

I would say this is more of a couples hotel than family hotel.

Room Tip: Room 209 is amazing

Stayed at this hotel fo 5 nights with my mum. The hotel was beautiful and immaculate. our room had a lovely balcony over looking the beach and on arrival there was fruit, slippers and robes for your use in the room. The hotel provides beach/pool towels which is great.

The breakfast was amazing and had a great choice. Bacon and eggs were cooked to your liking.

We ate in the restaurant twice and couldn't fault the food, it was amazing. Look forward to returning.

Room Tip: Ask for 209 this is right on the front with sea view and a balcony.

30th October 2012 just returned from a break at the Gran Sol. Our first impression was one of WOW this is a lovely hotel. This changed very quickly when we ate our first meal, it was a breakfast, we sampled a cooked or should I say burnt meal of bacon, eggs and tomatoes and yes I didn't think it was possible to charcoal either eggs or tomatoes, but the cook managed it very professionally it looked like she had been doing it for years (this wasn't a one off , we gave it a second chance that was exactly the same. The evening meals did not fare much better the food was very bland, we would suggest you try eating out, there are some excellent small Spanish restaurants near the harbour to try, believe me your taste buds will thank you for it.

The indoor and out door swimming pools were not much better than swimming puddles, two strokes and that's one length completed, and as for the gym well all the equipment needed replacing and had seen better days. It's not all bad however, the hotel is lovely it just needs some TLC in certain areas. Would we go back? No defiantly not. Next year it will be back to the Illa d'Or at Port de Pollenca, check it out yourselves, Agatha Christie used to holiday here, it really is much better than the Gransol in ALL aspects.

We Had two holidays to the Gran sol this year, both excellent in every way.we travelled in July and August. ll on the plane and ended up in Hospital for 3 days in Palma! My husband went straight to The Gran sol, it was our fourth visit. The staff really looked after him, and I had peace of mind knowing he would be looked after. When i came out of hospital, the staff and rep went out of there way to look after us. we ended up staying an extra 5 nights, and even when the weather changed, for the worst, we found the Hotel so relaxing. I wasn't able to walk far of lift anything and my husband is in a wheelchair. bu the help we received from all the staff and Manager Sylviai was amazing. we would recommend this hotel highly.!

Room Tip: speak to rep or manager about your requirements.

We have just returned from a brilliant week's holiday at the Gran Sol and simply had to write this as it was so lovely.

We have travelled quite a lot and this is easily one of the nicest hotels (if not the best) we have stayed in. The rooms are lovely- immaculately clean and very modern. The extensive choice of tv channels was brilliant, the bathroom fantastic and the bathrobe/slipper sets were a lovely touch. We had room 310 which also had the most amazing view from the balcony overlooking the sea. The grounds of the hotel follow the same standard and although personally I found it was a bit cold to go In the outside pool (obv nothing to do with the hotel- it was October after all & I'm just a bit of a wimp!), the option of using the inside pool was perfect.

In terms of food, we were on b&b and the breakfast was superb with a wide range of options. For a tip- try the poached eggs!! We also ate in the restaurant one evening and although I will admit we were slightly disappointed with the quality (as we didn't feel it was quite as good as we had expected), it was still very nice and great value at 13€ each.

The staff really make this hotel what it is though with 5 * service-they deserve a huge amount of praise. They were all so friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

As other reviews have said, it is true though that the nearby area of Cala Millor is a bit tacky and yes- we agree. But it is what it is- and there is Cala Bona after all which has a lovely small harbour with lots of nice restaurants. We would also recommend going to the market at son severa on a Friday as this is a really nice Spanish village and as far apart from Cala Millor as you can imagine! Hiring bikes from the rental place directly outside the hotel is also really great value and the cycle lanes make it really easy to get about. Just watch out if you're walking though !!! Although we didn't quite make it there, we also heard from another couple that Cala Ratjada is well worth a visit too.

We don't usually return to hotels but I can promise we will definitely be keeping an eye out for future deals here as it was just wonderful and most definitely recommended.

Thanks again for a wonderful holiday- we couldn't have picked anywhere better:)

Just returned from another trip to the Gran Sol and it was simply superb.
Fantastic, professional staff throughout really add value to this hotel and make your stay relaxing.
The quality of the hotel is well known but bearing in mind the hotel will close for the winter tomorrow the overall cleanliness and condition of the hotel still looks like brand new.

I can not praise the Gran Sol highly enough and look forward to returning next year.

This IS a gem of an hotel, very laid back and with a 'light touch' management. The staff are very efficient and friendly. Particular praise should be given to Miguel and Ms Angeles in the restaurant, the food is excellent with service to match. (We were on half board)
The hotel is small and located right on the beach in the small resort of Cala Bona. The rooms and balconies are neat but adequate and we considered the very small supplement to have a sea view very worthwhile. The beds are extremely comfortable and the air conditioning is excellent. The shower is in the bath and we heard an older holiday maker remark on its unsuitablity for them.
The 75 minute transfer passes through cultivated fields with typical Majorcan style houses and makes the journey full of interest. This hotel exceeded our expectations and we would most certainly return. We would however avoid the last week of the season as there was evidence of winter closures in the resort.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are very good and only twenty metres from the sea.
