“Our Week Stay at Hotel Cala Bona Cala Bona Majorca Spain in August 1990”
Reviewed October 8, 2011

Myself and parents enjoyed our week stay in August 1990. It was our first holiday abroad after a few years and we picked a good hotel in Cala Bona Majorca. Even though it is 21 years ago since we stayed there, the internet did not exist when we stayed there. The rooms were lovely and the food was self service and it was Full Board. The food and drink was great and the bar area was lovely with a pool table and lots of entertainment every night. The swimming pool was great too. Lots of young people without children and teenagers away with their parents like myself at the time staying at the Hotel Cala Bona and older people away on their own too. The beach was only 50m away and Cala Bona is a lovely sandy beach. Used to go to Cala Bona Beach every day after breakfast at the hotel then go back for lunch at Cala Bona Hotel then back to the beach then back to Cala Bona Hotel at evening time for a sit at the hotel pavement cafe for a cup of coffee or tea or milkshake or beer and have a nice cake and watch the world go by, which was a lovely thing. Then have a nice swim in the pool then go back to room to get ready for the dinner at the hotel and then a night out either to Cala Bona or a stroll to a bar in Cala Millor the neighbouring restort to Cala Bona and then back to the bar at Cala Bona to spend the rest of the night and listen to the entertainment at the hotel. A lovely hotel The Cala Bona.

Stayed at this hotel for a week in July with my sister, mum & nan. We has 2 superior rooms which were lovely (decorated ikea style) but would definitely book rooms on the opposite side of the corridor with a sea view if we went again. The balconies were too close to the next block & there was no real view.
Food was nice ... Didn't eat at the pool bar for lunch; went to bars around the harbour ... Restaurant food was nice a night, same table but as others have said; little bit samey - meat was beautiful.
Played bingo some nights; others we walked to shops nearer cala millor ... Only downside is that there is nothing to do after 12pm ... The resort is buzzing until 11pm during cabaret etc. But after that it dies down very quickly.
In general though the hotel & resort are lovely & I'd go back ...

We have just returned having enjoyed a lovely holiday (as usual)... The main block at the HCB (Hotel Cala Bona) has been renovated over the 2010/2011 winter to a very high standard, but we have been delighted to find that the 'ambience' of the Hotel is unchanged... we have been visiting this Hotel since 1996 and have made many good friends both amongst the Staff and guests from all over the UK and Germany. We all gather for the 'Tourist Week' at the end of September, and must place on record that the Gala Dinner on the last Saturday in September is an experience which should NOT be missed . The cullinary delights to be viewed and consumed is something very much out of the ordinary.Another new feature this year is what is called 'Show Cooking' where your food is prepared as you watch... and the Stir Fry, and Crepes are something SPECIAL. Guests are treated with the utmost respect by friendly, efficient staff who will ensure that any request no matter how small is catered for with the maximum speed and the minimum of fuss. The Hotel is situated facing a lovely Harbour where boats can be used almost like buses to both Cala Millor, Cala Rajada, and Porto Christo should you wish to venture further afield. We went by Taxi to Palma to visit the Cathedral... What an experience! A visit to neighbouring Son Servera market is a Must...This is a small town with a big character, and has many small Bodegas and restaurants which are well worth a visit BUT... back to the Cala Bona Hotel (HCB)... IF YOU DON'T ENJOY YOURSELF HERE,,,,YOU WON'T ENJOY ANYWHERE!.

We returned to celibrate the fact we spent our honeymoon there 40 years ago ! We expected a lot of change but were pleasurably surprised. The hotel had extended, of course, but it was still a great place to stay. . The staff are so helpful and happy, the rooms are clean and its great if you have a sea view (which we did complete with balcony) The buffet style food served in the restaurant was good, but after a while it got a bit 'samey'. It would have been nice to have a complete Spanish option each night. Its pleasant in the evening to enjoy a drink sitting outside the hotel overlooking the harbour....it also gets you away from the nightly Bingo session! The drinks are reasonably priced and you have the added attraction of free street entertainment. Although there is cabaret every night at the hotel. The area has not been over developed and still has a villagey feel. We shall be going back

Just returned from our 3rd visit to the cala bona and it was even better this time. The staff are so friendly and nothing is to much trouble. Would not recommend it for teenagers as there is not alot for them to do but ideal for younder & older people. Booked again for next year . A totally relaxing holiday and just a lovely place to go to.

Room Tip: Well worth paying a bit extra and booking a sea view

Lovely hotel in great location right next to the harbour. The view is just gorgeous. Turn left out of the hotel walk past the harbour and you will come to some lovely pavement cafes with stunning views out to sea. Turn right out of the hotel and you are on the main cala bona strip which leads very easily into Cala Millor. The 2 resorts are inter-linked so when you want more action head into Cala Millor. At the front of the hotel at night street entertainers and artists arrive every evening around 8pm. It really is lovely.

The staff at this hotel, I agree, are the friendliest we have come across ever. This was our first visit to Cala Bona and we can see why guests return year after year.
We had a superior room which was beautiful, kept really clean, although we didnt have a sea view (maybe next time).
The food was good - spanish buffet style, presented to a high standard although after 4 days we did eat out as it got a bit "samey".

The only gripe we would have (hence the 4 stars and not 5) is the pool area. Guests would be out at 8am to reserve sunbeds and parasols. A lady asked politely if she could use a parasol that was not being used - the reply was no, we will be using it later! Also, at the time we were there - mid September - guests were piling 2 sunbeds, one on top of the other to lie on! We could not find a sunbed without a towel before 3pm despite there being a notice saying that if guests do not return within an hour you have the right to remove the towels.
We went out walking/sight seeing during the day and used the pool around 4pm due to selfish guests.
All the guests seemed to be British at the hotel as it is a Thomson hotel (the Thomson Rep I might add was very good and I enjoyed talking to her).

We would recommend this hotel for a very relaxing and calming holiday.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main complex.

Great hotel, good food, and in a fantastic position right on side of a picturesque harbour.
Staff are so helpful and the hotel is very clean.Good evening shows and bingo too(if you like that sort of thing).
Went there with my Wife in June this year, and really enjoyed it.
Would definitely return. This was our second stay there,so it must be good!

Room Tip: if possible get a room in the main building as the dining room is in there. There are more buildings...
