Two week self catering at the resort in "G" block. Rooms clean although noisey (kids running up and down corridors/doors banging/kids shouting) which is not good when you are on holiday trying to relax.
The pools are far too small for the amount of people staying at the resort - there's no way you can swin a length at anytime during the day unless you are at the poolside first thing in the morning due to the amount of people in them. The images in the brochure make them out to be quite big but they are not.
Sunbeds start to get reserved at 1am in the morning, yes 1am!! To get a bed around any of the pools you need to be up and out of the appartment by 5am to get a sunbed that is in a sunny spot.
This is a German resort. The brochures should state this as with kids there's no interaction in the kids clubs or any activities around the pool.
Pool areas are cleaned but in a very hap hazzard way. Bins are emptied throughout the day which we were happy with as with it being an all inclusive resort (mainly) there are a lot of food wrappers / glasses lying around.
Short walk to Cala Bona which is a family resort - quiet. Cala Bona starts to close at 11pm but you can still find a few bars open.
Nice restuarants (Smithys/Janet and Johns/Costa) Weather for first two weeks in August was faultless in the 30's everyday - a few spots of rain but overall 14 days of sun.. If it was raining then we would have found it very very difficult to find something to do. We went to the beaches due to the fact that we could not get a sunbed - 8 days out of the 14 we went to the beach because of this. Calo Bona not very nice beach due to the seaweed and rocks. Calla Millor much better about 10 mins walk along the front. As with the pool, the beaches get very crouded and you may need to sit on the sea wall and wait until a sunbed becomes free !!! Take a lilo to lie on if going to the beach and then try to find a free piece of sand. I would avoid the water park if considering it - 10:30 arrival and que after que for the slides meant the kids got on 3 slides before we headded home (just over 1 hour wait per slide) they ended up staying in the wave pool with a ball.. 4 travellers (2 kids/2 adults). Would we go back - I dont think so.

Pro's - The resort is in a great location, only 5 mins to beach and promenade which gives you a lovely walk into Cala Millor. Cala Bona is a very nice resort with plenty of bars and restaurants. A short walk along the front takes you into Cala Millor which is very busy. Cala Millor has the best beach and the water is clear and warm, beautiful. Apartments are basic but very nice and clean. Rooms cleaned 5 times a week. Pools are great and there are three outdoor ones and an indoor one. Entertainment is OK and pretty much the standard reps doing their best. Food was very good and plenty of options. If you cant enjoy your food from this buffet its your issue.
Cons - There is really only one. The resort is 95% German and Dutch. Not a problem for the wife and I but my 6 year old found it hard going and the kids club was a no go. The films being shown were all in German as was most of the activities at the kids club.
Overall - A very nice resort with nice staff and surroundings but not the place to be if you are taking young english speaking kids. I will definitely be going back to Cala Bona but will stay at the Bonaire that is more english speaking and has the best kids pool (pirate ship with slides etc.) - Also if you are going to Majorca soon avoid all excursions. The wait at Aqualand was an hour or two per ride and the caves at porto cristo was 4 hours.

Very good hotel complex. Lots of pools, gardens and play areas. Plenty sunbeds for all. Management did not enforce the "No towels on sunbeds till9.00 rule." Mostly Germans, brits, spanish and scandinavians - which was OK, but spoilt by the totally charmless east europeans. Self centered and rude.

Room Tip: Didn't know you had a choice?

We booked 10 days self catering at the Floriana for a family of 4. The hotel is very clean, well maintained, and is based around various blocks on a fairly large site and three seperate pool areas. Staff were friendly and rooms were cleaned regularly.

Room sizes were ok for 2 adults and 2 children, and the kitchen had the usual electric 2 ring cooker, fridge and microwave. Decent bathroom and good sized patio. Black out blinds and free air conditioning were ideal, and there was a safe for hire (2 euro a day). Thin walls, although it was very peaceful in block G when we stayed.

The main pool area has a nearby stage area for shows and 'the animation team' who organise afternoon music, games, volleyball and water polo for teenagers and grown ups (In German and English).

When we visited, the hotel was almost completely German with some Scandanavians and Dutch, which wasnt a problem for us at all. However please beware if you have small children as the mini club and disco all seemed to be in German, and I saw one English mum complain vigorously about this at reception. Our children spent most of the time in the childrens pool but yours might not, and a lack of accessible entertainment could pose problems for English speaking youngsters.

Yes the usual cliches about towels on sunbeds persist and they were out there well before breakfast, although the hotel info said they would be taken away.......but if you cant beat them join them.

Can't comment on the food personally, but my brother was half board and said it was fairly good. All in all a very good hotel, but maybe double check on the childrens entertainment before you go.

We stayed at the Floriana for five days for my partner’s birthday; from the moment we arrived to the time we left I could not find any fault with this hotel and believe you me if there was one to find I would have found it as I own my own hotel. The staff, cleanliness, rooms, food and the prices of the bar were brilliant. It was my partner’s birthday while we were there and after a lovely day on a boat trip we got back to our apartment to find a bottle of bubbly in the fridge with happy birthday on it, it made his day.

As the other reviews mention that this hotel is full of Germans and the entertainment was all in German it is not a problem because all you have to do is go out the side of the hotel and in 5-10 min you are on the prom of Cala Bona.

Cala Bona is one of the nicest places I have been to; there was plenty to do if you wanted to do it and if you didn’t there were plenty of lovely bars on the harbor to sit have a drink and watch the world go by.

They are much geared up for bikes; there is a cycle lane all along the prom. You can hire very kind of bike you can imagine for as long as you like at a very reasonable price.

The Cala Bona Hotel on the harbor has fantastic at night time, the band and singers there were fantastic.

Thank you to all the staff at the Floriana Hotel.

What a brilliant Holiday.

The Floriana is a wonderful hotel, very clean, well run and in a great setting about a 5-10 minute walk from the harbour. It is 99% German holidaymakers, though, and being a Brit in a German stronghold you will certainly get a few odd looks if you stay here - not to mention we found them the rudiest people we have ever encountered on this planet.

But that's an age-old story and everyone is aware of many German's social short-comings. Put that to one side, and the Floriana is fantastic. Plenty of choices with what to do with your day - which pool to hang by, tennis anyone?, a half-decent gym - and although we were a couple there seem plenty of entertainment for kids throughout the day. Despite being a reasonable distance from the main entertainment are - Block E - between 8-11pm it's hard to hear yourself think the music is that loud.

We were self-catering so I can't comment on quality of the food, but our room was very clean and we had adequate kitchen equipment and utensils to russle up scrambled eggs and toast at breakfast and have our baguettes at lunch.

Only let down was that our 'clean' pillows and bed linen and someone's blood stained on them which wasn't the nicest thing to see as you prepare for bed, but we had it sorted no problem and there was spare sheets and pillows in the cupboard anyway.

As for Cala Bona itself it is a glorious place and you will be amazed by teh amount of good, quality restaurants round the harbour. Papparazzi is exquisite Italian cuisine and superb value for money. I had the Veal Saltimbocca and it was divine as was the Crostino Al Pomodoro for starter! Also had an icredibly tender fillet steak at Es Mollet and manager Seve is the most charming guy in all of Cala Bona.

One tip - and it's a little hidden gem - is to to go to the Son Floriana Restaurant. It's just up from the hotel reception (off to the right as you get to the junction between the Floriana and its sister hotel Bahia Azul). We had the best meal of our lives in Son Floriana and is a proper rustic Spanish style restaurant set in a colourful garden. Though it doesn't delve into the predictability of Paella and Tapas, they offer superb fresh fish, duck, steak and vegetables cooked the Mediterranean way. Absolutely delicious, but can be a bit expensive so maybe a place for a special dinner on your travels.

We have stayed at the Floriana Resort before and sometimes you wonder if returning to a place is a good idea, will it still be as nice ?
Well the Floriana was just as we remembered, though this time despite it being school holidays the resort was very quiet though this was not a bad thing as the pool was lovely and quiet.
The staff were very friendly and the apartments still kept very clean and comfortable.
The kitchen space is small but big enough to get a sandwich together.
The resort of Cala Bona is full of restaurants all surrounding a beautiful harbour.
I hope the Floriana doesn't change it really is a lovely place to stay.
