As others have alluded to, the room was tired but spacious. There were two single beds pushed together and a third that looked a little out of place near the balcony. There was also a small kitchen area with a fridge and microwave. The beds looked uncomfortable, and at first they were, however once we had removed the awful plastic mattress covers they weren't too bad. The air conditioning was from another age; noisy, but ultimately effective. The worse thing about our room (2101) was the fact that it was over the snack bar so constantly smelt of cooking oil.
The hotel is about a kilometre from the beach at Can Picafort so takes about 10 minutes to walk to, although there is plenty of parking along the front. Can Picafort isn't exactly the most picturesque part of the island though and personally if a day on the beach is your thing then I would recommend the beautiful beach at Es Cana about 5 km away.
Most of the hotel’s guests are on a package holiday with German tour operators Alltours, and their ‘reps’ can often be spotted around the place encouraging games of Water Polo and organising the ‘evening entertainment’. I always avoid such things like the plague, but thankfully it was all in German so I couldn't really make out what was going on. I must say that I fail to understand my fellow contributors’ criticisms that most of the guests of a foreign hotel were for foreigners. Besides, I generally find Germans most agreeable, except for their chain smoking and their inability to grasp the concept of queuing. The entertainment made quite a racket, but thankfully ceased around 11 pm. The hotel is then mercifully quiet until 8 am when it sounds as though a building wide game of chess is taking place, with chairs and beds being used as pawns and knights. I assume this was the cleaners as it lasted exactly 40 minutes.
The dining experience was more functional than luxurious. The area is a little canteen like, but the food was always tasty, and there was arguably too much variety. I found the Paella and the pistachio ice cream to be particularly good (not together, clearly).
The pool area was spacious enough, if a little uninspiring. My only real criticism was that there are only two poolside showers and they are both quite hidden (for 4 days I was convinced there was only one), which doesn't encourage their use. I seemed to be the only person bothering to shower before entering the pool. There was a certain amount of sand accumulated in parts of the pool that should have been vacuumed.
Overall the hotel is fairly middle of the road. It’s not bad, but it’s certainly not somewhere that one would long to go back to. The owners need to invest if they wish to keep their 4 star status.
