“Nice restful holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2012

Arrived back yesterday from Picafort Park, our 9th visit in six years. We decided to take my grandson 28, who has a few Special Needs for a nice peaceful week. We paid extra for a suite, and were allocated F103, it was satisfactory re position, but i was a bit upset when i saw wall next to the bed was mouldy and soaking, and in the wardrobe also black mould and mildew, this i believe was from the shower and where it was placed. Obviously due to the health situation i reported it, and we were told the maintenance man would see to it in the morning, which he did, WELL sort of, covered it so it looked better!!!! We felt that since it has gone AI the food quality and Selection have slipped a bit. Mostly we found something to eat that we liked, but ate out a few times. Apart from the sweet selection which hasnt changed too much, still very nice and well presented. Paco and his staff are still very nice, courtious and efficient. Bar staff, apart from a couple also good, But theres always one eh? I would like to point out the hotel has NEVER been a 5 Star, as stated in one review, it was a 3 and not that long since got a four, but in my opinion should still be a 3, unless it gets some TLC The hallway as you go into your room was filthy stained, and gives off a very bad first impression. I think whoever checks from Thomsons need to look further!!!! Entertainment really gone down, Nobody from the proffessional entertainers like weve had before, in fact it was pretty abismal. Lesley and reception staff very good as always. Would we go again? Why not, on the whole it is a very peaceful holiday, good position Beautiful weather, So all minor hiccups are forgotten

Room Tip: F103 Suite so peaceful and Room B103 end room very quiet too

Me and the wife stayed at pickafort park Sept 25th -Oct 9th two weeks, the park does cater for the older age group but that was no problem for us,Staff were friendly and helpful, food was good especially breakfast, evening meals were a bit short on choice but never the less enjoyable.pedro worked hard in the dining room to get everyone seated. But the stars of the entertainment were Deano and Stacey they did a superb job through out the two weeks.I would go there again.

Room Tip: No lifts so be careful if you have a problem with steps top floor rooms are three storeys high.

My wife and I stayed here for a week from 16th September and we loved it. After our initial shock at the sight of everyone asleep around the pool when we arrived in the early afternoon and the lack of any noise apart from an old man snoring we found our room which was exceptionally clean and well furnished.

There were plenty of towels, shower gel and a hairdryer plus a flat screen TV and even though we had gone for the all inclusive option I was then a bit miffed to find I would have to pay extra money if we wanted to watch BBC and ITV and out of principle I refused !

The welcome into the restaurant every time we went in was brilliant and the waitress service and food was excellent with plenty of choice and even full English Breakfasts available - the highlight of the week was the Roast Beef and the Chinese night !

The entertainment was very English and we loved it with Deano and Stacey being fantastic hosts - we especially loved the quiz in the afternoon and the evening and also the bingo and the resident duo "Jango" were also very professional and entertaining. The "professional" acts were generally good but I would have liked to have seen something a bit more Spanish perhaps rather than for example one night where some German men were trying to sing Bee Gee songs

The bar service was very good and I would certainly recommend the all inclusive option.

In conclusion we would definitely recommend the Picafort Park and may even return in the future !

Me and my husband went to picafort park in july, Do not go only if you are over 60yrs old, Has soon as we walked in the pool area to go to our rooms, we got the look!! They did not like it if you made a nosie even in the pool, people was swimming in the pool there was not even a sound of water, every one was old The food was ok breakfast was nice evening food was nearly the same every night, chicken, pork, it was allinclusive but you had to pay for food around the pool, The only food that was allinclusive around the pool was a dryed up sandwich,Any other food around the pool you had to pay for, you was only allowed two drinks at a time from the bar,I always go allinclusive where you dont pay for anything this hotal is not allinclusive, would not go there again.

Room Tip: Rooms at back look over the sea.

This hotel has been awarded 5 stars but, in my opinion, it doesn't quite match up to this. All public areas and the restaurant are clean and tidy, as you would expect. The rooms are located in 8 separate blocks spread around the grounds but there is no covered walkway between each block and the main reception area or the restaurant. This means that on a windy and rainy evening umbrella are essential.
The food is fairly basic but there is a wide variety and it is well presented.
The allocation of rooms can be a lottery but the one we had (H305) was ideal for us in that it had no direct sunlight throughout the day and it looked over the back of the grounds to give sea views. We heard one or two other guests asking to be transferred.
This is the first 5 star hotel we have visited which does not accept credit or debit cards. We wanted to upgrade to 'all inclusive' so had to pay cash which wiped us out of liquid funds so we had to fine a cash dispenser quickly. Despite being 'all inclusive' we were disappointed that supplements were payable for some wine and drinks, for the use of the room safe and to see BBC/ITV/etc. channels. Only CNN and Sky news were available otherwise. Packed lunches were not available when taking full day trips.
To summarise, the hotel nearly got there but its reputation was slightly tarnished by the corners being cut.

Room Tip: For views over the pool area, select rooms numbers xx6 to xx9 in each block. For quieter rooms selec...

As a couple in the 50-55 year age bracket we decided on the Thompson's Gold adults only option for the relative peace and quiet this should offer (bearing in mind that I still personally believe that I am more of men behaving badly than from May to December).
My initial reaction after a very impressive booking in procedure was that I had walked onto the set of "Cocoon" and because of this I wasted a couple of days in this mind set when I should have embraced the culture of the rest of the guests who were not only there to enjoy themselves but were actively doing so.
The remainder of our holiday was sheer delight enjoying the company of 20 to 80 year olds all of whom were living the holiday dream of rest, relaxation and ggod fun.
The hotel offered very good food and although it was self service the staff attending to the tables for drinks etc were friendly and efficient.
The bar staff worked tirelessly to serve all the the guests especially during the 11am to 11pm "all inclusive" times and despite an occasional bit of disguised grumpiness they were non stop throughout the day.
The entertainment provided daily was excellent with acts from outside providing a varied mixture of comedy and great singing. Thompson's own entertainment staff seemingly led by Deano and Stacy were on top of their game and the whole hotel was joining in laughing and singing along to tunes/jokes old and new.
We left the hotel with fond memories of the people we had met and also without my wife's Kindle but after just one brief email to the hotel Lesley on reception slipped into her "wonder woman outfit" and the Kindle was recovered and despatched without delay.
So good food, entertainment, surroundings (pool, bar, restaurants etc) what about minus points.
Our room could have done with a bit of an update as it was looking tired and I know we were not alone in this observation but I was also assured by other guests that the upgrade process was already in hand.
The usual moan about paying over the odds for a safe in the room that must have been paid for 20 years ago.
If someone in the Television room decided to watch sports then that was automatically broadcast to all hotel rooms in favour of the Sky news channel.
A bit of a climb back to the hotel from the seafront for those with mobility difficulties but there was a bus and "train" that ran regularly.
We heard other niggles from some other guests but did not witness them so will leave them to report if they feel aggrieved.
15 - 20 minute walk to Can Picafort main beach and shops. Good value bus service to Alcudia and Puerto Pollensa. So plenty to see and do for the more adventurous but in all honesty you did not have to leave the hotel if what you were looking for was a peaceful and relaxing break.

We have just returned from an 11 day holiday at this hotel having read some of the reports just before we went was wondering if we had made the right choice.
On arrival we had a smooth checking and were soon in our room the room was on the ground floor with no sun and no view. We went back to reception and asked if they had any other rooms available facing the pool area unfortunately there was nothing available for 3 days but they would be happy to move us then. We were okay to wait and true to their word we were given another room. What a difference this made we were on the 3rd floor nice view and plenty of sun. Although the rooms were a bit dated they were large and spotlessly clean and were kept to this standard for the rest of our holiday.

We found all staff very friendly through out the hotel always had a smile for you.The pool and grounds of this hotel are really good plenty of sunbeds. There was always the early birds who had to put their towels on the sunbeds but this was not necessary as there were always plenty of vacant beds throughout the whole day,

A special thanks to Deano and Stace what a great couple keeping everyone entertained in the day and the evenings along with the duo Hannah and John who were also very good. The Thomson Entertainment team who did the shows were also vey talented, the shows were very good but think Thomson need to update the shows had seen the same show twice before at Thomson gold hotel in September last year in Portugal and June this year in Cyprus.

The only downside we have on the hotel is the food in the resturant again the staff where lovely but the food has got to be the worst Gold Hotel food we have ever had and no way is 4 star. The breakfast were okay and so were the desserts but the main evening meals were awful the choice was limited and presentation poor the crockery look like it had had better days and they were always running out of plates it was more like a works canteen but worse.

The hotel was situated very well bus stop outside hotel with buses every 15 minutes or a short walk to the sea front.

Would we go back only if the food improved.
