We chose this hotel on the basis of it being relatively small and intimate, with just 23 rooms, in one of the quieter resorts. Having read the reviews and discounted the more extreme ones, we had a reasonable idea of what to expect, and accepted that although we were paying half board we might have to eat out! As it turned out we were pleasantly surprised.

We arrived late, but the night receptionist was expecting us and had a cold supper waiting. For what we paid we could not fault the food. Haute cuisine it was not, but we had no problem finding something from the buffet selection each night. As for breakfast, again a good selection, given the size of the establishment. I have had much worse in larger and more expensive hotels!

Our room was basic but spotlessly clean and comfortable. All the staff were very friendly and the whole place had a very pleasant ambience. The indoor pool was a gem, and we frequently had it to ourselves. A great way to cool off after a day in the sun. And the sun terrace, much maligned in another review, was a bright and airy suntrap and a great place to while away the odd hour with a good book in the early evening.

The hotel occupies its own block, just off the seafront, and has larger hotels on two sides, so don't expect a sea view. It is well-positioned for shops, buses and taxis. Parking is on-street, and we never had a problem. Entertainment from the other hotels was noisy at times, but never went on much beyond 11pm - and in any event, they were paying for it and we got it for free!

The pavement tables outside the bar provided a great place to relax with a pint (1 euro 50) or a sangria (2 euros) and watch the world go by. The bar staff were friendly and efficient.

All in all the Bonsai exceeded our expectations, and we had a very pleasant and relaxing break, so we can only rank it as excellent. We would certainly go back, as many other customers already do.

This lovely little hotel was a stones throw (literally) from the beach, Wonderful staff and ultra clean too. Chef came in early this morning to prepare some food as we were leaving before normal cooked breakfast would be served . The pool is nice Gym old - a lovely sun lunge area to soak up the rays, (ps. has a low wall. lots of sun!)

This hotel was great, very clean nice room although at back of hotel it was a bit noisy due to hotel opposite, but noise stopped usually by 11.The staff were very friendly especially night receptionist. He was very welcoming. The meals weren't " Gordon Ramsay " but you certainly would not go hungry. We were quite impressed by breakfast as we were just expecting a continental but there was a cooked breakfast every morning and the cook would do poached eggs to order.Hotel probably more suited to "older couples" There is no entertainment in hotel but give Crazy Horse bar a visit. Paco is MAD had a great couple of night there.Paco very funny with endless energy.Only thing that let this holiday down was the weather but no one can control this. Did pop on bus right at hotel and visited Palma and Porto Cristo
.

Room Tip: perhaps room at front due to bus stop at rear

We stayed here for 7 nights in May and we have to say it was lovely, we cannot complain for the price we paid, the rooms where spacious and very clean, the staff very polite and helpful and the bar prices excellant, not sure if we could stomach the food for more than a week but what we had was hot and more than enough.
we had a room at the back of the hotel, which if you wanted a siesta about 4 oclock was a bit noisy due to the hotel over the road having a very loud keep fit class, ask for a room at the front if possible.
All in all a very nice break and we would go back in the future.

The brochure and the reviews on trip advisor are not giving you a true picture of this hotel,
possibly because most of them are anon!! Quiet peacful it is not, it is located on a corner with very noisy roads on all 3 sides, a taxi rank at one end, another side having a constant supply of buses stopping right outside the balconies, close enough to shake hands with! On the same side there was a hotel with outside entertainment to blast the night away! also the hotel boasts of a lovely sun deck from were you can wach the sun set - it is basically just a concrete roof and only if you are a giraffe on stilts will you see the sun as it does this behind a 20 foot wall! On the other side of the hotel there were constant delivery vans/trucks and to top it all a bar which was under someones balcony. We were fortunate that we had booked to stay at a sister hotel for the first part of our holliday and we managed to change the booking thus avoiding this hell hole! ONLY BOOK HERE IF YOU DONT MIND LOTS OF NOISE AND FUMES.

Room Tip: Dont book it
