Hotel is nicely situated, with good pools and gardens, but everything is for the convenience of the German guests, who completely outnumbered any other nationality! The room was adequately furnished, but the air conditioning was set at 20, which was not cool enough! A small balcony, but with comfortable reclining chairs. Reception was spacious and generally helpful. The dining room was nice as it had several areas of seating, including a patio, but the food was disappointing as it totally catered for the Germans.
Would not reccommend this as a "Platinum" experience, The resort is nice, with lots of bars and shops, a small marina, but again, it is wholeheartedly geared towards the Germans, so didn't feel as though we had a Spanish holiday.

we read the reviews and was concerned on what we would find, our concerns disappeared on arrival. the staff were friendly , room was clean and tidy and was cleaned daily, food was good with a large choice of meals, during the day the hotel facilities were available and it did not appear crowded, early meals at 6.30 were a bit busy but eat bit later and it was fine
overall it was a good holiday in a fine hotel, beware of the sauna if you are embarassed by naked bodies

I returned early Sept 10. There are somethings that were very good and others that were very poor. The poor things unfortunately made my experience a disappointing one.

Good things
Service
Cleanliness
Plenty of sun beds
Quality of food

Poor things
Air con in bed room did not work. I asked others who were staying and they confirmed their air con too was not working. We had a 10 month old baby and needed a temp around 18-20 and took our wall thermometer. The temp never got below 25. We complained to the reception twice and was told the engineer had investigated and sorted it. We told them he hadnt and that we had a thermometer. Nothing was done to lower the temp.
The rooms were tiny. We had a cot in the room that didnt help, but we had nowhere to relax before or after dinner..
No safety glass in the doors. I know this sounds strange but a young german lad whilst playing ran into one of the doors at the entertainment area and instead of it shattering it smashed into pieces and cut the lad on his hands and face. Not a pretty sight and he was very very lucky.
Finally one annoying point regarding the crazy golf. They had an abundance of putters and only 5 balls. Very frustating. We had a tip off before we flew out and took our own. I suggest if you like to play crazy golf with the kids...take your own golf balls!!!

We've just come back from a 2 week stay at the Gran Vista. We were very happy with the hotel and have very few negative comments. Here's what we thought:

Room - As our rep had advised the hotel this was our honeymoon, they'd arranged for a bowl of fruit, bottle of wine and a 'towel swan' to be in the room on arrival (this was hugely exciting for me!). The only thing I would say about the room is that the bathroom doors take a bit of getting used to - it is made of frosted glass and is just a teeny bit smaller than the hole! This resulted in me ordering my hubby out onto the balcony every time I needed some privacy (if you know what I mean - I've worked hard to create my air of women's mystery and didn't want to undo it all on our honeymoon!!). The shower was lovely. There was a fridge in the room. The TV has 3 English channels - BBC1, BBC2 and ITV1. We loved our balcony which had a table and chairs and was perfect for playing cards on late into the evening. Our room was on the 3rd floor and overlooked the pools so we could watch the entertainment from our balcony if we fancied. I think the 3rd floor is probably the best as floors 1 & 2 don't have quite such a good view. By far the best thing about the rooms was how clean they were. They were cleaned every day and the cleaning staff were really friendly and happy! The only negative thing I would say is that the hard floors mean the furniture is a bit noisy - i.e. you can hear your neighbours pulling their chairs in and out, but this didn't cause us any bother.

Food - there is a good selection of food both at breakfast and dinner. I'm a bit fussy so stuck to salads and potatoes and things but my husband tried all sorts and really enjoyed it. Your dinner drinks are put on a tab which you pay on departure. Breakfast was my favourite (and I always had eyes bigger than my belly!). You could have cereals, toast, pastries, cooked breakfast - must be a Spanish thing to offer peas and carrots with your fry up though!. There was always loads of fruit and you could have omlettes, pancakes and smoothies made to order. There are tables outside but you have to be quite lucky to get one of these as they are so popular. The waiting staff were all really friendly and spoke good English.

Entertainment - the entertainments team work very hard to ensure there is stuff going on. It's not intrusive though so you don't have to get involved if you don't want to. During the day you can take part in water polo, aqua aerobics, volleyball and loads of other stuff. We also went horse riding along the beach on one day which was organised by the hotel and at a ranch just a 5 minute drive from the hotel. There is some kind of musical entertainment every night. This wasn't really our thing so we only watched a couple of them and the rest of the time we went to the rooftop bar or played cards on our balcony. The rooftop bar is lovely, you get a panoramic view of the bay and the waiting staff are all very attentive.

Pools - we spent most of our holiday lounging by the pool with a book. This was sooo relaxing! There are 3 outdoor pools in total (a lagoon pool, a kiddies pool and a more grown up pool for actual swimming). There are more than enough sunbeds for everyone but to get one with an adjustable back and a brolly you have to be quite early - we usually went down straight after breakfast and got a great position with no problems. You also get a pool towel which you can change on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Location - C'an Picafort was slightly disappointing so we spent a lot of time at the hotel, but seeing as it was so nice this was fine by us. The resort was a little bit tacky (like a mini Great Yarmouth) and the shops sell mostly tourist stuff. The beach is about a 10 minute walk away and the water is lovely. We didn't actually spend much time on the beach as it was quite crowded although there were sunbeds to rent. A 15 minute stroll to the right will take you to San Baulo where you can hire a jetski for 20 mins at 40 euros. There is also a bus-stop very close to the hotel. We got the bus to Alcudia for 1.5euros each and about a 30minute ride. Alcudia was very nice and tidy with a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops. There's also a pretty harbour and if you walk along it you can see Michael Schumacher's boat 'The Smooth Operator'.
Right next door to the hotel is a supermarket where you can get essentials. We got milk, bread and cheese and made our own lunch each day. Wine and beer is also cheap in here so we often bought a bottle of something and took it up to our room for evening cards.

Other - the reception is efficient and helpful. There are a lot of comments on here about German guests and whilst we would agree that this is the case, it really wasn't an issue for us. There was no rowdiness or rudeness, lots of people made an effort to chat to us in English (both staff and other guests), there were a few pre-school age kids around but they were all well behaved and well catered for by the kids club.
I didn't use the spa but my husband went for a massage (he got a bit stiff after the horseriding!). It was 40 euros and 45 mins and he said it was just what he needed.

just returned yesterday from holiday at grupotel gran vista can' picafort. what can i say!!! catered mostly for the germans rooms ok but needed facelift, disappointed at no coffee/tea making facilities too much fish and pork which was unfortunate as i like neither!! other alternatives were rabbit/chicken meatballs etc not on same night mind even the salads were fish related. desserts lived up to expectations though. would i return in an answer nooooo!!!!! staff were very friendly and helpful and maid service very good loved the walk-in shower . dining room was far too small for the amount of guests staying and had to queue on numerous occasions. on the plus side beach and water beautiful. hotel 5mins walk from beach - debatable depends on how fast you walk more like 10mins would not recommend it to friends unless they spoke fluent german!!!!!
