“Mixed but ok I guess”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2013

Stayed mid June 2013 for a week half board. It's true that the hotel is geared mainly to Germans but don't let this put you off. I certainly didn't lol.

The rooms are really poor quality. Please be aware that if you are single and book the standard room you will get an 8x6 room with bathroom you can't turn around in. I was lucky enough that the lovely caty on reception tool pity on me and arranged for me to move to a slightly bigger room- thanks caty.

Ok so once settled in now the food. To be honest I thought it wad fine, ok I do like continental food, so it was no surprise to find rabbit casserole on the menu. Breakfast ok, plenty of cold meats, cheeses, bread, olives, toast, cereal, fresh fruit and jams or preserves. Cooked option was plentiful always found something - bacon, eggs fried, boiled or scrambled, beans, sausages, tomato etc. Please do not come here expecting your English bangers as it will be a disappointment, but I found breakfast very adequate. Coffee could do with being better. Would recommend you bring your favourite brand of instant from home and use the hot water from the machine.

Dinner was good though nothing special. But loads of choice and all fresh - salads, hams, cheeses, hot choices included lasagne, spaghetti, veal casserole, roast chicken, fish cooked to order, pork ribs and the usuals - rice, chips, potatoes, vegetables and salad. Plenty of sweets and desserts including fruit, cakes, pastries etc.

Interesting is the help youself all inclusive drinks red white and rose wine and beer, fruit juice and water. It costs 4 euros to use this per person which actually is reasonable as a pint of beer costs upwards of 2.5 euros in resort. I didn't go all inc but paid for dinner drinks once or twice drinks were ok v reasonable.

Beware mosquitoes near beach area I got bitten on day one lol they always come for me.

What sets this hotel apart Is the extremely good customer service. Nothing is too much trouble and all the staff wear smiles. It's the guests that need a bit more jollity really. No offence intended to the Germans as I would prefer to our sometimes British louts you can find in all inclusive in Spain.

I would recommend a visit but do this with an open mind and be prepared to work on getting under eath the German reserve.

We stayed for 7 nights 7th - 14th October 2012. The hotel was spotlessly clean, all the staff were very friendly and spoke English. The food was hit and miss - my husband ate very little of it and said it was disgusting, I'm less fussy so found it mostly ok - although one breakfast was belly pork and broad beans! The pool area was small but nice - although it doesn't get a lot of sun as there are large buildings around the hotel. It was however very clean. The entertainment was limited and mostly catered for Germans (but as they were all German, it isn't surprising!)

The room was basic and a bit dated, but perfectly adequate with a small balcony. The maid came in everyday and left the room spotless. The barman was a charmer and made us feel welcome and all the staff had a smile and would always help. Diddy, the entertainments person, was always friendly and chatty and spoke a few languages.

You will find the beach a couple of minutes walk down the hill from the hotel and it is lovely. White sands, clear water, all the shops and facilities you need there - there are a lot of people coming onto the beach to sell watches etc, massage (which I did get and was well worth 10 Euros) but they are not intimidating, just irritating!

All in all, we wouldn't go again, but it was a lovely place and we had a great holiday.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front would be quieter.

We did what most people do and read reviews before booking this hotel however booked 10 nights for August , this hotel was great there was always something in the resturant but not a hugh selection but what do you want in a small hotel . Pool could be bigger but again forefills the need , if you are looking for five star this is not the hotel for you , however if you are looking for value for money try this hotel , and the germans and staff are friendly so please try it you might like it :-)

Room Tip: fitness centre is located else where but only 5 minutes walk good exercise

We went for 10 day's and i have to say it was the worst holiday we have ever been on, were to start about the hotel!! Well if your British, don't go, if you like good food, don't go, milk was like water, so couldn't even have cereal for breakfast, pool area very small, Rooms very dated and beds very hard, On the only plus side was the staff were friendly, we stayed from the 04/08/12 to the 14/08/12, Apart from the staff we never spoke with anyone else in the hotel as the german people were not friendly at all

Stayed at this hotel 31.7.12. for one week. Upon arrival, were told that there had been an over-booking, when did we book? Told them booked and paid for in May. We were offered a room for that night and promised one of the best rooms in the hotel from the following afternoon, which we accepted. The first room was little more than a box room with a tiny bathroom. The next afternoon, we were moved to a bigger room with a corner balcony and larger bathroom which was much more acceptable, although none of the rooms there appear to be anything more than basic. Upon talking to other English people staying there, we found that they had also been "over-booked", and were offered various things, eg, all inc instead of half board, free safe, etc., until a better room could be found. The clientele were predominantly German, which was not a problem for us, but we wondered how many of those had been "overbooked". So, room basic, nothing more. Staff we found were friendly and hard-working, especially Valentino in the bar and the young blonde girl doing the kids' entertainment (in German). The hotel was clean, but not spotless, and you didn't see cleaners working all the time like we had experienced in other Spanish hotels. The location of the hotel was quite good, couple of streets back from the beach, and the beach is the best thing about Can Picafort. Fine, pale sand and mountains in the distance, although it was very crowded when we were there and they charged you 10 Euros per day for 2 x sunbeds and parasol if you wanted them. There is a long promenade alongside the beach with bars and restaurants aplenty, and shops selling "beach essentials like water, ice-cream, toys, etc. The main shops are in the street behind the promenade, but they all seem to sell very similar things at similar prices, so not very captivating. Seemed to be very family-orientated kind of place. We went all-inclusive and found the food to be adequate but not very inspiring. The meat was usually quite bony, although we did have some nice chicken legs and some spicy pork which were tasty. The "yoghurt" for breakfast was more like Angel Delight, and it was generally budget food on offer. You would not go hungry as there was plenty there, but sometimes to get a decent-tasting meal involved some unusual combinations of dishes on offer. The AI drinks were another disappointment. You could have cocktails on AI but there was so little alcohol content that you may as well been having squash (by the way, ask for juice, you get squash). The drinks poured were very generous and still you would find it hard pushed to get tipsy on them. All in all it was just about acceptable, but I would avoid the JS chain of hotels in future. Its a good job the weather was as good as expected (not down to the hotel). A number sunbeds were adorned with towels regularly with no owners appearing, but there was a notice posted on the door after a few days saying this wasn't allowed so somebody must have complained. Not over-impressed with this hotel or Can Picafort in general and would not recommend or return to either. By the way, complimentary toiletries amounted to one sachet each of shower gel and shampoo per stay.

Room Tip: We had 221 which has a corner balcony.

Just got back from a week in JS Yate. The only positive thing about this hotel was our room, it was large but it needs updating. Food was pathetic. Some days were bad and some days were not so bad. Yes, we could always find somthing to eat but we did not enjoy it. Pool area... this was one of the worst i have seen.

This was my 64-years old father´s first holidays ever and I was very worried as he is not easy to please. He also suffers from a coeliac disease so I was very worried about food. But it was excellent. The hotel is not in the main street therefore not noisy but still in the centre, the access to the beach was just perfect, about 100m. Lots of shops and restaurants around. Close to bus stop.
I can only recommend, there was nothing much to complain about. The food was excellent and despite his limited choices he was never able to try everything. Everything was fresh and lots of choices. Plenty of drinks, hot and cold, and alcoholic drinks such as beer and wine or coctails. The accomodation was good too, maybe bathroom was not the biggest and modern, but all good for 8 days. Cleaning was provided everyday as well as fresh towels.
Most guests were from Germany and older people as it was in the middle of September and couple of Russian families, therefore, friendly and not noisy. Personnel was friendly and very helpful.
I highly recommend for those who don´t look for snobby but still very good place to spend holidays.
Clara from CZ

Room Tip: The rooms above swimming can be quite noisy because of the late music
