This hotel was probably quite nice when it was built, probably in the seventies. Today it is out of date and badly in need of renovation. The palm trees are brown and dying, which is a suitable metaphor for the hotel itself.

Service is shockingly poor. The only coffee available tastes like dishwater and is very weak. Most drinks stations are self-service. There is no table service anywhere in the hotel. If you want to drink anything it must be out of a plastic beaker. There is no water available in the rooms and the only possibility of getting any is to walk 5km to the nearest supermarket - the hotel has NO room service whatsoever. We were almost laughed at by the staff when we asked why such basics are not covered.

The room is insufficiently powered. Smartphones and tablets can barely be charged from the wall sockets and the hob never gets warm enough to cook anything or boil water. There is no possibility of making a decent cup of coffee, so you have to traipse in the heat to a cafe if you want this in the morning. Unacceptable.

The bathroom is old and ugly, with motel-standard fittings and there is no soap or other toiletries.

The AC is functional but very noisy.

The food in the small buffet is extremely limited and repetitive. All wheat and sugar orientated, if you want to eat anything healthy then you are basically limited to fruit or salad. Otherwise it's bread rolls, chips, cakes, tarts and ice cream galore. There are limited meats and cheeses available but after two or three days of the same, you can't look at them anymore.

The Internet service barely works at all. The only positive thing I have to say is that the room is clean.

We paid a luxury price for a very substandard service and shall never come back again. Our dream holiday has been an endurance test.
