“Just right, after strenuous climb!”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

Capdepera isn't the easiest town to drive in, we had to reverse back through narrow streets to find a parking place, then we climbed to the castle (fabulous views, well worth the climb), then I had trouble coming back down the path in the castle, it was very steep and very slippery - so after all that we just wanted a cup of tea in any old café. But this is NOT 'any old café', it is a restaurant we would deliberately head for on our next trip to Mallorca. We were welcomed warmly by Stefano, and also by an English couple who were just leaving but told us how special this restaurant is. The building is very old and the layout and furniture have kept its character. We had 'chef's choice' tapas, and the chef chose exactly the dishes we would have chosen ourselves, varied in appearance, taste and texture, with a glass of local wine and juice from oranges that were pressed while we watched. The dessert-of-the-day was announced as 'an English dish - we would like your opinion': it was Sticky Toffee Pudding! We perhaps wouldn't have chosen this from a menu in Spain, or even in England, but we shared one helping, and it passed the Cartmel test, it was delicious. We hired a car for just one day - if we had been able to, we would have been back for each of our four days on the island, very highly recommended.

“Very good”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

The food and service was very good, and the whole ambiance of the place is wonderful. It is a small restaurant so it is better to make reservations.

“Great before or after the climb to the castle”
Reviewed June 27, 2013 via mobile

Great food, very tasty beer and reasonably priced. Not huge inside but very cosy with own style. Has a balcony with a nice view but a small one for 4-6 people.

“A lovely first night meal in Mallorca.”
Reviewed June 15, 2013

Es Castell is owned and hosted by the wonderful Stefano. He takes great delight in personal service and making sure all is well. He serves up a selection of very high end Tapas dishes together with a few pasta / grilled meat plates. My Entrecote ( from Galacia ) was one of the nicest steaks I have eaten for many years and was cooked to perfection ( on the raw side of rare ) and my partners fish course was also excellent. As we had booked ahead, the 2 seat outdoor balcony table was ours for the night and we stayed until everyone had left apart from our host who drank home made ' Orangecello ' with us and put the world to rights, into the small hours. Stefano is gem and his cuisine is both simple and of excellent quality , that's why he is in the top 100 Mallorcan restaurants guide.

“Another fantastic dinner”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

We returned this year to the wonderful restaurant that we discovered on our last holiday to Mallorca. It was still the same owner an Italian guy called Stefano who could not have done more for us. There was a new menu and also a small terrace which was not there last year.I had provelone followed by duck. In all the restaurants here in Mallorca I have never had a provelone like this one on a bed of aubegines, to die for. My husband had the deep fried camembert followed by a steak. We shared the assortment of cheesecakes. We could not fault the service or the food and we are glad that we returned to this delightful place, We loved your choise of music Stefano, and sitting on the terrace on a warm evening really made our holiday something special. We hope you continue to do well as you deserve to.
