“Stylish plaza mayor”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

Plenty of cafes and the little bull to look at. Two beautiful Art Deco buildings. Teruel is not big so wandering from the square took us to churches, towers and windy streets a plenty!

“Tiny but handsome Torico”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

If you expect a huge Toro at this plaza, you will be dissapointed. The Torico is just a tiny bull on top of a pillar of a charming fountain. But the plaza itself is the loviest of Teruel and is the heart of the city. It´s surrounded by beautiful buildings. You can find many fancy shops, bars and restaurants at the plaza. The cathedral is just behind the plaza.

“The Main Plaza of Teruel”
Reviewed January 9, 2012

The main plaza in Teruel is the Plaza del Torico. It is adorned with a fountain in the middle of the plaza. There is a statue of a small bull on top of the column in the fountain. There are small heads of bulls as the spigots of the fountain that come out of the column. Why does this fountain have a sculpture of a bull? It seems that when Alfonso II of Aragon went to the area, there appeared a small bull that led the way to the plaza, so this is where the town was founded. Teruel’s symbols are now the bull and the star.
