We very much enjoyed our two-night stay at the Parador de Ubeda. Located in the south-east corner of the town the parador fronts a beautiful open square with churches and other historical buildings adjacent. After stopping to drop off our luggage on the street in front of the square in front of the parador we were directed to free parking nearby - all quite easy.

This 16th century renaissance palace, and the buildings surrounding, ooze history. There is a wonderful courtyard perfect for a drink or light snack. Our second floor (superior) room was on the front of the parador facing the plaza. Very tastefully decorated, with beautiful tiled floors and a wonderful comfortable bed the room's ceilings were impressive for their height - no doubt something like 16 feet, creating an open large feeling within in the room. The bay window led to a small railed balcony providing a great opportunity to view the activity in the square - including all those taking photos of the parador. Perhaps due to it being a bit off season (April) as an Amigos member we took advantage of a two night special - 108 euros per night - breakfast extra - a great value for our beautiful superior room.

Breakfast was as at other paradores - an extensive buffet of interesting choices with more than one could ever eat. We ate dinner both nights at the parador. The dining room is somewhat compact, with a bit of a crowded feel to it. The food, as we find at all paradors was certainly good but never quite excellent; an enjoyable meal but not one that you will consider as your most memorable. And like other paradors dinner is quite expensive. Service was attentive and excellent.

Wandering through Ubeda, particularly the older sections around the parador, is very pleasant. Ubeda is a nice size pedestrian friendly small city. Although we are not museum people there were a number that no doubt would be very interesting to those who are.

Like many paradors Ubeda has a classy formality about it, with nice stone and artwork throughout providing a wonderful ambiance. A very nice city, a beautiful room and nice dinner all contributed to an excellent destination.

Room Tip: We imagine an exterior room, in our case a superior room looking out to the square, would be preferable over an interior.

Gorgeous, high-ceilinged room opening onto spectacular central, roofed courtyard. This hotel is a tourist attraction in its own right. Centrally located and easy walk to anywhere you like (except the potter street which is down a steep-ish hill so might be a challenge for some coming back up). Didn't eat in restuarant as got a great value menu in a place around 5 minutes away. Hotel itself was lovely. No food between 4pm and 8pm which scuppered us for a late lunch but such is life. Stayed here as part of a 3-night deal across the paradors of Cazorla/Ubeda/Jaen. Good base for exploring Ubeda and easy to get back to quickly if it rains (as it did when we were there). MOre spectacular than Cazorla building but we thought the Jaen one was best overall. Covered courtyard in middle of hotel is the highlight here. NIce place to chill-out/drink/read. Good breakfast. Free wifi.

Ubeda was recommended to us and is a very attractive town surrounded by olive groves as far as the eye can see. The parador was also recommended and did not disappoint. It's a converted palace that sits on a large square next to a church. Inside the staircase, pictures and other historical items are worthwhile spending time at. rooms are spacious with great characters curing a great outdoor balcony. The breakfast was good value. Parking is free and you just park your car in a public car park around 200m away.

Stayed here as part of a Parador hopping tour. Good proximity to heritage buildings for which Ubeda is renown. The Parador is full of character. I paid €30 extra for a ground floor room with access to a private garden. Absolutely lovely!! The only criticism is the intermittent and weak wifi connection. Not acceptable at all, hence the less than perfect rating.

My wife and I stayed at the Parador for 2 days and enjoyed it. I called the Parador before going there and asked about parking. The clerk told me that I could park on the reserved place on the street in front of the Parador. They would then call a man who rented his garage for 12 euros a night (compared to 20 euros a night for a commercial garage). This worked out for us and after we checked in I gave the clerk my car key and told her I would leave in 2 days at 9 am. The car was promptly there at that time.

Our room was fine with the standard parador furnishing with period furniture. The bed was queen size and I would have preferred a king size bed. The bathroom was modern and it had windows you could open to ventilate the room.

The breakfast buffet was fine. You could ask the waiter to make you a fried egg, if there was none on the tray.

The location of the parador is the best, in the center of the monumental things to see. The desk clerks were very friendly and helpful.
