I booked Palacio de la Rambla for a one-night stay, and it didn't disappoint. The Palace itself is stunning, and is in the old town of Ubeda, which is a city that is well worth a visit.
All the rooms of the palace are set off a central courtyard, that was even more beautiful than the photos showed. We stayed in room no.1, and to get to it you get to enter through a small living room, that is shared with room no.2. Our room was enormous! It had a lovely sitting area, and a small bathroom (though the bath was brilliant!). My only complaint is that I had booked a double room, yet we ended up wiith twin beds. This has been my experience in a number of places in Spain, but I had expected that at the price I paid, to at least get a double bed! Nonetheless, pushed together it was fine.

Breakfast was great, we were greeted and offered a choice of hot drinks, and then we had a buffet of sorts with ham, fruit, croissants etc. And then we had a choice of eggs, bacon etc. The scrambled eggs was probably the best I've ever tasted!

We were able to leave our suitcases the next day, which suited us perfectly, and the staff were able to give us great restaurant recommendations.
I would definitely go back to this beautiful hotel!

Room Tip: If you want a double bed, specify!

We drove into Ubeda and unlike other towns and cities in Spain, it is not too difficult to drive to the hotel. The hotel has limited parking on site, best for small cars at around EUR 10 per day. We had a medium sized family car and found it easier to just park 100m up the road at the public car park for EUR 16 per day (24 hours). Once you're in Ubeda, there is no need to drive unless you are going to the neighouring town Baeza (which is also lovely for half day trip).
If you are after some place that is different and very historical, then this is the perfect place to stay for you. The room we had (Room 4) was quiet, clean with a very big modern bathroom (water pressure not great if someone else is using water elsewhere in the building, but expected in these kind of properties everywhere in Europe - also a slight musty smell that you get used to). It gets so quiet at night that we had to unplug the bar fridge in the cupboard as it seemed very loud. This is a family mansion so there is a small chapel and sitting areas, and as you walk around it is just like as if you are in a museum. So you have to ask yourself whether you would enjoy this kind of accomodation but having slept in others like this, we all agreed this was the best one in terms of value and service etc.
The breakfast comes with the price and the lady who makes breakfast was one of the nicest people we met on our holiday in Spain. She spoke very good English and always made our choice of eggs with a smile. There was also freshly squeezed orange juice, choice of freshly brewed tea or coffee, toast, cereal, ham, cheese as well as eggs and bacon made to order.
There was three of us in the room and the extra bed that was brought in was surprisingly comfortable. However if you are all tall adults then you won't fit as it was just long enough for me to lie on top to bottom (5'7).
Ubeda is a really nice town with a good vibe. The buildings are beautiful and it's at its best when the sun is going down as the stone buildings seem to glow.
Would highly recommend both the town and the hotel.

Ubeda is a terrific place to stay with all those Unesco World Heritage monuments and buildings nicely illuminated at night. The Palacio de la Rambla is situated in the middle of the town. There are parking problems in town but the Palacio has a garage (7€ per night). Breakfast is really marvelous and you can have a free afternoon tea with cake and the biggest tea-cups on earth. The rooms are large, very different, nicely furnished and 100% authentic. The special atmosphere has one negative aspect: our room smelled mouldy and it didn't help to keep the windows open five days and nights in a row...

Ubeda was a total surprise on our trip. Our suite was large and lovely with separate sitting area with fireplace. Gorgeous throughout with halls overlooking the courtyard. The staff seemed surprised to have American travelers, but they were engaging and offered a great wine bar option the first night of our stay. We ended up parking on the street rather than at the hotel, but there was no problem finding street parking.

Housed within a 16th century mansion with huge rooms surrounding a center courtyard, the Palacio de la Rambla Hotel is in a perfect location to explore this UNESCO World Heritage city. We would stay here again. The rooms are decorated with love, and we spent the afternoon sitting in the garden outside the salon. The only complaint is that in the heat of the summer, the rooms need fans.

Room Tip: I saw three rooms and they are all charming
