Hotel is in an excellent location as it's in the mountains and about an hour or so from Granada, Malaga and an hour and a half from Cordoba so a good base for exploring -recommend Cordoba Cathedral/Mosque especially, Alhambra always worth a visit of course (but be prepared for crowds, even in April!). Hotel is well run and staff v friendly and helpful, they were landscaping the outdoor pool area (they were making loads of sand into a beach!) so not available but we were warned and received a bottle of local sherry so fair do's. V nice gardens with turtle pond, bike trails etc. and also views across the maontains and plains. Room v spacious and also breakfast extensive -all you could want really, we didn't have an evening meal as we were out at other places.

La Bobadilla is a very pretty hotel, built as a pastiche "White Village", surround by a huge estate. It is owned by Barcelo, and feels a little corporate, considering its style and location. The emphasis seems to be on weddings,(there is a chapel at the centre), and beyond the immediate photo opportunity areas, the garden and estate looked a little uncared for. Our room was large and comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent. But dinner is expensive and extremely average. But never mind….there is a place less than a mile away, La Paloma, on the road to Villanueva de Tapia, where you can have a delicious dinner, on a flowery terrace, for less than half the price.

Dear Guest,

I´m very sorry to hear that your impression about our hotel is not 100% positive. We will work hard to improve it. Concerning dinner as you know there are always two restaurants providing meals service at night, Gourmet and Andalusian cuisine... of course there are several choices driving a mile away, the guarantee in our restaurants is the healthy and quality control that Barceló Hotels offer to its guests.

We all wish to welcome you to La Bobadilla again.

Yours sincerely,

GM

Our junior suite was very comfortable and the views out toward the Mountains were spectacular. Waking to the bird song and watching the sun rise was fabulous. This hotel is an easy drive from and back to Malaga airport which means it's a great place to stay for a long weekend or as a first or last stop of a tour. Best arrange as late a flight home as possible or, like us, you will miss the splendid breakfast. The early continental breakfast in our room was OK but not a
We took advantage of an unexpected half board special offer and ate each night in the El Cortijo restaurant. The menu was pricey and the "specials" remained the same each night but the staff were particularly good and embarrassed by any delay due to the place being so busyl.
We stayed three nights and had two full days to drive out to the beautiful Iznajar and Priego de Cordoba on the first and then Antequera on the second.
We took a late afternoon walk around the grounds which was good exercise and the pool was wonderfully quiet.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the mountains

We stayed here for one night after our tour of the Alhambra in Granada. We had a junior suite which was beautifully decorated and absolutely huge. The hotel itself is incredibly well decorated with the lobby one of the best I have seen anywhere in the world - it has been designed like a mini Alhambra. The effort the hotel puts in to be environmentally friendly is also a nice touch and something more hotels should certainly do. Breakfast was probably the best I've ever had anywhere!

The only problem with this hotel is that the restaurant is outlandishly expensive. I have been lucky enough to stay at some fabulous hotels around the world and have never experienced such a large differential between the price paid for a room and the price of the restaurant (dinner for two can EASILY cost you more than the room rate). It is a long drive to any other restaurant in the area and it is obvious that the hotel knows this...

Dear Guest,

First of all we would like to thank you for taking time to share with us your experience in La Bobadilla.

As you know there are three restaurants in our hotel, La Finca (Gourmet Cuisine), El Cortijo (Andalusian Cuisine) and La Plaza (Easy Eating)... Of course La Finca is the most expensive one, but there are two more choices available, both with reasonable prices.

We hope to see you again in La Bobadilla ¡¡

Yours sincerely,

This was our second stay at La Bobadilla, again in a junior suite, after a few years gap. We valued the elegance and generally excellent service, and the spacious accommodation. Good work was in progress to the outside pools, with an eye kept on environmental interests. Breakfast was very good.

The two restaurants appeared to have become more similar since our previous trip: El Cortijo classier than last time, and La Finca perhaps less formal than before, with the food at La Finca a degree better of the two. We agree with another reviewer who said that the hotel would be better served if the restaurants were more distinct in level.

We took a few car trips in the area during our 4-night stay and staff seemed genuinely interested in our reports. All in all, we greatly enjoyed ourselves. Walking around the large estate accompanied by birdsong was wonderful.

There were a few things we did not like. Both mattresses on our shoved-together bed creaked and had seen better nights: we did not sleep well. We discovered that there was a 20 euro per person per time charge for the spa, so we did not use the indoor pool. Then we were charged exorbitantly 45 euro for a lunch of two toasted sandwiches, two diet cokes and two coffees. A 10 euro overcharge on our wine at la Finca seemed to be an honest mistake.

We would still recommend this hotel to friends visiting the area.

Just returned from a 5 day stay here. Well located, just 50 mins from Malaga airport, and 50 mins from the Alhambra in Granada. The 3 km driveway up to the hotel provides the remoteness that the hotel promises. Fantastic room with huge well appointed bathroom and terrace overlooking views out to the Sierra Nevada. Exemplary breakfast buffet and attentive service throughout.
One slight negative is the limited choice for dinner, out of season only the Finca restaurant is open and that is a high quality special occasion type of restaurant. Concierge was happy to suggest other local alternatives though, which were all good but a 20 minute drive away.
Overall, though, a very distinctive, special hotel, with excellent, friendly attentive staff.

Had a two night stay with my wife and two children in mid-march and we loved this resort
It was off season, no pool, but we had a very relaxing time in the lovely setting the hotel afforded us. We had just toured barcelona, Valencia, and granada and the quiet peaceful location and charming hotel were perfect for us.
