“Luxury apartments at budget prices”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2012

I would like first of all to reply to a couple of criticisms left by other Trip Advisers.

1 Gardens had seen better days? - They must have visited in August at the height of a heat wave? We were there for the Winter solstice and the gardens are an utter delight. The only place in the UK that rivals it are the semi-tropical house at Kew Gardens. The sheer fecundity and outrageous size of the luscious plants - first time I've seen a banana tree in fruit - on December 21st is wonderful.

2 Apartments are shabby? Well perhaps a little BUT the price that we paid reflected this. Remote control CH thoughout, Flat screen TV and bedroom TV, HUGE balcony with sunbeds AND dining table and chairs with parasol(natch) - we needed it the weather was GLORIOUS 70 degrees for 8 straight days with slight rain only at night. A separate kitchen alcove with washing machine (my wife loved having a washing machine), fridge/freezer full cooker. A full bathroom and shower en-suite with a spa bath. A welcome pack with tea, coffee, milk, washing up liquid and soaps and even bubble bath for gawds sake. Maid service twice weekly - they even remove the rubbish.

The Grangefield Oasis(GO) club was a delightful home from home for us for 8 glorious days. Thank you Natalia for making our stay so restful and refreshing.

Now there are a couple of snags? Might be a benefit for others? WiFi was rubbish - there was no signal available in the rooms and although free in the lounge the reception here was not good either. My tip to GO - get a tech company that knows their business the one you have at the moment are well below par.

You need a car and a good up-to-date sat nav. The GO is situated in a rabbits warren of streets with dead-ends and one-way streets which is literally miles away from anywhere.

However despite the drawbacks we paid hostales prices for a lovely suite of rooms with a large balcony with sea views and amazing dawn views.

Room Tip: Ask for J-L top floor rooms in winter. They have separate and plentiful parking at their doors. Othe...

We were offered this place through the dealcloud promotion from Petchey Leisure as an alternative for their Almeria resort which was closed due to floods earlier in the year. We upgraded to a 2BHK apartment on the higher floor, and expected it to be for no charge since we were there at off-season (16Dec - 23Dec) but the manager insisted on paying a discounted fee of €50 for the week. It wasnt a bad option to upgrade since our year and a half old daughter really fancied sleeping by herself in the other bedroom which was a blessing. The apartment itself is nice and well furnished, TV, sofas, complete kitchen with all amenities, washing machine in a separate room attached to the kitchen, large terrace (not overlooking the pool though). The housekeeping cleans the apartment once a week but at our request, they did do the maintenance mid-week during our stay. The indoor pool/spa was good though slightly cold for the time of the year, and the outdoor pools were good for sitting besides on the sun loungers. The children's play area adjacent to the property is also good though only limited set of activities possible. We ate at the restaurant once, the night we arrived, and didnt opt to eat there again which perhaps speaks about our view of the food and choices there. However, we did order home delivery (our daughter sleeps early and was too tired each day from being on the beach/sun all day) from a nearby Indian restaurant (Korma Indian restaurant) which had prompt delivery and good food. All in all, a good place and we would go back again.

The resort is located quite far interiors though, and since we had hired a car from the airport it wasnt a problem. We did lose our way a couple of times when we drove from the airport but managed to find it eventually following an alternate sat nav route (yes, we were carrying two different sat nav systems and glad we did!).

Room Tip: Higher floor, opt for 2bhk if with babies/infants.

Of all the apartment complexes I've stayed in this one seemed most complete; in other words, less to moan about, more to praise.
The apartment itself was superb; compact, but fully equipped kitchen, spacious living area with TV, HiFi, 2 sofas/beds and a large round dining table, large double bedroom with masses of closet space and roomy on-suite bathroom.
One feature wich struck me, (many people may find it insignificant), was the numerous electric sockets. No scrabbling under the bed or behind the TV to charge up the ipod/phone/camera etc.
The complex as a whole was fully self contained with restaurant (good food but a tad expensive), shop, bar and games/play/internet area, gym and indoor pool.
The two outdoor pools are an absolute delight, with plenty of sunbeds and a resident life-guard.
Two small downers. There are a LOT of steps, being built on a hillside (NO lifts/elevators), so access for those with limited mobility would be difficult. Also, a car is a MUST if you want to go out for a meal etc.
To walk to the main coast road is about 1.5 km mostly downhill, but the return needs a cab ride costing 4 or 5€. (or the assistance of Sherpa Tensing !!).
Ask for a top floor apartment for most sun and views. I had L8 which was perfect, overlooking the pool.
All in all a lovely compact complex with friendly, helpful staff and all you'd need on-site.
I'd certainly recommend The Oasis, but a car, I think, is a must.

Room Tip: Top floor overlooking the pool.

We recommend staying at this place, staff were great, very helpful and always had a smile or a hello from them. There were a sufficient amount of actiivities to do such as pool table, air hockey, darts, table tennis, tennis, mini golf, a gym, swimming pools, sunbathing facilities, computers for use and laptops for rent with reasonable prices and even board games behind reception so you could never really get bored.
TV was ok with a couple of English channels and you could even watch your own dvds. We had two nice balconies but sadly it wasn't hot enough for us to stay out there. Bed was comfy, nice size rooms, kitchen had everything you needed. The negatives however were that there were mini ants in the kitchen and living room and they only cleaned the apartment once throughout the week, it should have been done at least two or three times out of the 7 days. The resort itself was always clean and tidy and very well kept. The nearest shop was 24 minutes away via a downhill walk which meant a longer uphill trot on the way back after a tiring day out so a taxi was necessary, the walk however would mean you would see fascinating views and amazing scenery - see it to believe it - and is well worth a daytime trip!
Food and drink was available from 8am to midnight and was quite nice and reasonably priced. The fresh orange juice was lovely and reasonably priced at 2.95. The breakfast buffet was good as there was more than enough food however if you are not an early riser then would not recommend it as it finishes at 10:30am. It was enough to fill you up until mid afternoon. Overall, a pleasant stay with no major problems!

We stayed here for a week, and were pleasantly surpriesd by how well equipped the apartment was. There were two of us, in a 2 bed, 2 bath apartment. Furniture was better than usual standard, and included a DVD player and wall mounted flat screen television. The kitchen was very well stocked, including blender, juicer, and even linen table cloth and napkins! The apartment had a huge balcony with table, chairs and sun loungers.
We found staff at the resort to be very friendly and helpful. Wifi is available, there is a bar and mini market on site. The pool areas were very clean and well maintained.
The complex is quite a distance from the main road but we live in Spain, about 4 hours north, and had been able to drive there, so this was not a problem for us...otherwise I would recommend car hire!
The location is very good in terms of accessibility to Fuengirola, Marbella, Estepona etc, and was an easy drive to Gibraltar as well.
Overall we thought the apartment was of a very good standard, clean, fresh and with good quality towels and bedlinens.

Room Tip: Ask for one looking over the pool area rather than the road as this will be a bit quieter!

If its the Ritz you are looking for your in the wrong place. The bad bit first, its a little bit far out. But other than that Grangfield,is clean and tidy and the staff are first class give you all the help that they can.It is about half an hour walk down to the beach and shops, down hill and about forty five minutes back up with a few stops. Or 6 euros by taxi. The shopping center two well stocked supermarkets, few restaurants, bank, car hire, pizza shop. The bus stops on the main road £2.50 gets you into Fuengirola Blackpool with out the fair, but you can get the bus 0122 up to the Village of Mijas cost 2.50 a must will not disappoint a good day out. I have just returned from a 12 day stay, but i did read up a lot about Mijas from the net.

We spent one night here last week. It is ok, clean and adequate but nothing special. We thought it was in the village of Mijas which is a lovely place to stay, but it is 12 miles away, not the same sort of resort as the village location so we were a bit disappointed and stayed only the one night and moved on to somewhere else.
