“Excellent first family holiday abroad.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2014

Stayed here in 07/08/12 with my family of 6, it's a nice big resort situated in a quieter more relaxed part of Spain, our s/c apartment was excellent for what we needed it for it was a nice base for us to return to after exploring the costa del sol, lots of things to keep everyone occupied in the actual resort too nice big pool and health suite, gym games area etc, the onsite restaurant and bar was good too, local shops and beach where accessible by daily shuttle bus service provided by the resort, all in all a great holiday, would defo return, they do invite you to attend a short timeshare seminar with the lure of a bottle of proseco but this is at your own discretion no need to attend if you don't want.

Room Tip: The s/c apartments are clean, fresh, big and well equipped for family needs.

The refurbished apartments are really nice, but still don't have a dishwasher which makes a self-catering holiday much more arduous - surely not acceptable in 2014?! The pool area felt quite cramped and hemmed in, even though the resort wasn't busy. You need transport to get to the beach, but they do have a shuttle bus. The location is good for trips to Malaga, Gibraltar etc., though be aware that if you use the toll road this can get very expensive! Don't bother with the timeshare spiel unless you're really interested in buying - they waffle on interminably without properly answering any questions! Given that it was half term, there didn't seem to be any organised children's activities - even the games room was permanently locked. The buffet breakfast was very good, and very reasonably priced at less than 7 euros. Some British hotels which charge £20+ for similar should take note! Also note that wifi is only free in the common areas, and is switched off at 6.30 p.m!

We used this resort as a “base” from where we visited all the beautiful places in Costa del Sol or up North. We were here in Winter (Mid of Dec to end of January) and the place was quiet. It’s a different story if you come here in the Summer (too many people and too many cars EVERYWHERE you go). Talking about cars... You’ll need one. It’s a great place but there is no transportation (just a shuttle to go to the supermarket). By the way, the food and the prices that you’ll find in supermarkets (there is a Mercadona about 10 blocks away) are much better and cheaper than Toronto (about 40% cheaper)
As a resort, you’ll get everything you need to have an enjoyable stay. Apartments with 1 or 2 br, full kitchen and a washer although they will charge you 28 euros p/week for electricity and, if you need Internet it’s 10 euros p/week and the service is generally good). Also, you get FREE Internet if you go to the restaurant (Cafe Marbella) from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm.
The hotel is well located, well kept and the staff is very friendly (no language problem either). You’ll have billiards, squash & Tennis courts, mini golf, two huge heated swimming pools (indoor AND outdoor and a whirlpool)
Crown resorts have 4 more resorts in the area with similar style. (All of them very recommendable). Basically, we have NO complains.

We recently stayed here with friends and though the staff were very pleasant, helpful and friendly, we found the layout of the resort so compact that is almost felt claustrophobic at times. The whole resort also seem very old, out of date and desperately in need of modernisation. The accommodation itself was clean, functional and well maintained, as was the pool area, bar and restaurant. Our only significant complaint was that we had a very noisy heat pump just outside our bedroom window (which we believe is used to heat the pool), as it ran continuously day and night making it difficult to sleep. Also the walls between apartments are very thin and you can hear every word spoken by your neighbours, this was especially bad as the neighbours on one side of us persisted in having loud conversations every night, and until at least 5am in the morning.
In summary, we believe that this offers a reasonable place for a base to explore the area, and this area has many beautiful things to see, but we would only ever use it as a base.

Room Tip: Do not stay in rooms 102 or 103 if you want a decent nights sleep.

If you are looking for a relaxing family vacation, this is the resort. We visited for 8 days in early November and were sad to leave. The pools (1 indoor, 1 outdoor) are well maintained with plenty of seating and a lifeguard at all times. There is mini golfing, ping pong and a small gym. You are within short driving distance to larger cities for a better variety of restaurants and shopping. The resort has an activities director who is good at creating various activities for all ages. The facilities are absolutely fine. It is not a new resort, but our room was updated, clean and came with all the essentials for cooking, washing and ironing. They do have day trips available through the resort to various places, including Gibraltar and Tangier. We did one day trip to Tangier, Morocco, but once we saw the resort's itinerary we knew we could get more for our money with a personal guide. Best decision we made. Tangier is fab and if you ever decide to visit contact Aziz Saint Laurent, he will not disappoint. Overall an excellent family vacation, and we would absolutely stay again.

we booked 8 days in November. could not fault the staff for service . including reception sports a pool staff and cleaners.the rooms were spotless.with all the tools required for cooking .washing ironing.there was a good selection of food for breakfast.both indoor and outdoor pool were heated. gym is small but adequate .not being able to book in till 4pm then having to be out of the room by 10 am was the only downside. Thank you crown we will be back
