Stayed at the hotel after deciding to visit the International Food and Dance Festival on 8.6.13. Not actually staying far away we journied to Mijas earlier in the week afte researching all the hotels.Went to Trh and were quoted 68 euros for one night so we left and booked on their own website and secured a room including breakfast for 53 euros.

After this ploy we were expecting to be allocated a lesser room however we were surprised to be given one on the second floor overlooking the pool with a stupendous view off the little balcony towards Fuengirola and the coast. the room itself was a little tired with quite worn carpet and furniture that had seen better days.,nevertheless the room was replete with complimentary toiletries including toothbrushes and a razor

Breakfast the next day was very good with an excellant choice of fresh fruits, cereals, brads and pastries. There was also a cooked breakfast with bacon sausage and fried eggs as well as the ubiquitous scrambled egg served in most hotels. All in all a pleasant sojourn in this delightful little town

Room Tip: try and choose a second foor room with balcony you can sit out on .ours was 39

The actual hotel is lovely and very Spanish. The facilities are good including a swimming pool, bars, computer area, spa facilities and a pool table. It has a really lovely relaxed feel to it.

The rooms however, really need refurbishing and updating - the carpets are old and stained, the TV's are "huge" and there are no satellite stations. Also, WIFI is only available in the reception area. I would also like to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room. There is a safe but you have to pay for it on a daily basis and there is no fridge unless you want to pay for one at 4 euros per day. For a four star hotel I think these should be included. The buffet breakfast is quite varied and plentiful.

The location of the hotel is perfect, just a stone's throw from the centre of Mijas.

We found the staff friendly. I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with one of the larger balconies. We had room 57.

Stayed at this charming Andalucian style hotel in May. First impressions were good - lovely Spanish antique furniture and cool marble floors in the foyer area. Our room was on the second floor - also liked the Spanish style decor. Reasonably good size with a great balcony and best of all - the view - lovely hills and the sea in the distance.

We stayed half-board and were quite happy with the food - nicely presented and good selection.
Also liked having crisp white tablecloths and napkins - nice touch. The location of the dining-room takes full advantage of the sea-view.

The village of Mijas is a few minutes walk away. It has lots of restaurants and cafes which are generally good quality and good value. As we were half-board in the hotel we just had lunch in the village restaurants and found them very good and very reasonable. The old part of Mijas was a lovely surprise - not touristy at all - village life goes on as it always did.

The staff were pleasant and hardworking - especially in the restaurant.
We had good weather, charming hotel in a pretty cillage - what was not to like!

Room Tip: We were on second floor to the right of tennis courts - No.218- Had no problem with noise I think w...

Just returned from a week at this hotel. I personally found the hotel to be very good. Having read some of the reviews, I was a bit apprehensive and not expecting too much from the hotel. the food or the staff. There was no need to worry over any of it. The room was very spacious and kept spotlessly clean, the food was plentiful and a very good selection (if you could not find anything you liked, I suggest that you lower your expectations and accept that you are not booked into a Michelin star property) and the staff were always polite and treated you with as much respect as you treated them, So don't be put off by anything you read on these reviews - keep an open mind and go and judge for yourselves.

Went for 4 nights in May with my sister and was gorgeous.....I'd seen the mixed reviews and was a little nervous but there were so any good reviews too and for the price paid just thought worth a gamble and was totally glad we did.
Went b&b and glad of this too as too many nice places in mijas to eat in a hotel every night, Mijas is stunning and I can't believe never heard of it before, definitely going back.
We had a view to die for from our room, it was very clean, oldy worldy antique style hotel, authentic Italian...very charming. Pool area beautiful views all around, very tranquil feel to it, yes sunbeds could be better but not a major gripe. Location 5 to 10 mins walk to town so couldn't ask for more, Breakfast very nice, good choice would definitely come to this hotel again, wouldn't bring young children though as too relaxing atmosphere, kids would spoil that ha ha...

Recently returned from a weeks stay at TRH Mijas. Hotel is 'very Spanish' in style, more like a 3 star than a 4 star. We stayed half board and thoroughly enjoyed the food, plenty of fruit, salad, veg, fish and meat dishes. All local specialities so if you are a 'fussy' eater you might not enjoy it. We loved it. Stayed in a superior room which was nice, had no problems with the room although I understand that some people with a standard room were disappointed, so might be worth paying the bit extra for a superior room. Bus stop close to the hotel which we used, it was great for taking us down the coast to visit other resorts. Mijas itself is the prettiest village we have stayed in, loads of bars and restaurants although we didn't use them as we were half board.
Overall, would highly recommend a holiday here and would definitely consider visiting there again. Not sure that it would be suitable for families with teenagers.

On the plus side, the Hotel Mijas occupies a superb position looking down over the Med from an altitude of almost 500 metres. The pool area is well kept and the shaded bar area offers a relaxing place to escape the midday sun. A supermarket is a minute's walk away and the town centre a few minutes further on. It is also an excellent base to explore the Andalucian region of Spain with its lovely scenery and places of interest.

The hotel itself is a bit of a disappointment considering its four star rating. Some of the rooms are markedly better than others. The food was adequate for me, breakfast especially, but the quality at dinner might be below what others would expect. I suppose my biggest gripe would be the attitude of some of the staff, often surly and unresponsive and, well, just bored. The number of staff on duty at busy times seemed inadequate. The pool bar/restaurant area could have done with at least one more pair of hands at lunchtimes, as could the upstairs bar in the evenings.

Would I return to Mijas ? Most certainly to this beautiful area of Spain but I'll be staying elsewhere next time.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the newer part of the hotel, preferably facing South. Avoid the older rooms adjoin...
